And yeah i knew it looked disproportionate as soon as i finished sketching in all the detail, but i wasnt willing to erase and re-draw so much work just to correct a small mistake, especially since its my first ever drawing of a TF.
Im a bit rusty as i havnt drawn anything in a while thanks to mental health issues, so dont expect me to be able to churn these out daily when we get started.
Like i told sylus id be more suited to the larger projects, like cover art and large set piece images, that way i can take time on them and not ruin everyone elses drawing schedule.
I like the cover idea, I think that covers would suit your style perfectly

We'll probably have you do Covers, landscapes and backgrounds, that is if you're ok with it.

Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.
Sonray wrote:Ok, here is my sample. I was going to draw him in Alt mode and photoshop in the mustang in the background but i couldnt be bothered.
Maybe next time.
This is my first ever drawing of a transformer of any kind so please forgive any crude anatomical or proportional mistakes i have made.

Maybe?
I posted these else where but here they are again, i drew magatron during a lecture on feminism in Art and then gave it a lash with ink, all in all we are talking less than an hour for that pic,
clocker took between 2 and 10 mins-i wasnt counting, or rushing, i was just admiring the toy.

With speed and quality like that you would be best suited to pencils.
But i think we should stop discussing roles so much and just focus on what we are best at.
Personally, and i know i havnt shown it here as i have nothing to show thanks to various re-installs of my operating system, but id be best suited to complicated pics that require lots of time and patience and detail. I cant churn out stuff in minutes and get good quality, but i can spend a few days on something and blow you away with the level of detail and action and movement i can put into a pic.
I dont wanan sound egotistical or anything, since in reality i have the lowest opinion of myself then anyone but im just pointing out what sort of work i am more suited, and more comfortable with.
Like, while everyone is spending time making two or three pages of story-driven comic art a day, i could be working on a centerpiece 2 page poster, or a cover, or a large set-piece action sequence that requires lots of detail and realism which does take time. We should all work on what we are best at, and what we are most comfortable with. This should afterall be about fun, it shouldnt feel like a job.
See what im saying?

Yeah, we can assign specific stuff to people at a later date.

Anyway heres a pic ive been working on for the past couple of hours just because im bored and i wanted to.
Its nowhere near complete yet, as i still have alot of detail to add to Prime as well as an explosive background but it is alot of fun to be drawing Prime finally so i think im gonna take my time with this one.
Hope you like this taster for now though. Lemme know what you think please?

gotta say i think it is very good, although i find it had to imagine working on a line drawing for hours!
I have made sculptures adn paintings which i have spent days even weeks on, but a line drawing? I personnal cant imagine it. What do u find takes the most time? Do u redo areas often, and do u draw out a "skeleton" of the drawing first and then draw over it?
p.s. where is primes arm pit!!! That is a great area for adding mehanical detail and i dont see any pipes or pistons! tut tut

I sometimes draw a skeleton for the mroe complex poses but usually i dont, liek this pic i didnt bother with one.
Erm, i guess im just slow really, i like to take my time since when i rush things they come out looking like crap IMO. Why waste and hour and come out with something looking lke crap when you can just spend another hour or so and get a much better result?
Just the way i do things i suppose, hence why i think larger scale projects like covers and centrepieces would be better for me.
I sometimes re-do areas but mainly because i keep adding detail to them, and perfecting their look making sure everything looks as perfect as i can get it. Im a bit anal when it comes to those things.
As for the armpit, that was funnily enough the next thing i was gonna work on anyway, but my hand started hurting so i decided to call it a night and thats where i left off.
Dont worry, his armpit will be full of mechanical goodies soon!
I ran out of bloody space on the page though so i cant get all of his Ion Blaster in there, since i need the room for the explosion and his trailer in the background, as well as maybe a few decepticons that he just ran over and are now flying through the air injured. I think you should be able to guess what scene i am trying to recreate by now?
Sonray wrote:Cut their hands off? Wow i wouldnt like to eb your student....sheesh.
I dunno..i just work better without guidelines most of the time. I sometimes do my best work when i make things up on the fly, i dont like being restricted by a guideline maybe?
Thanks for the compliment too btw
