There's been a bit of mystery surrounding the 31'st entry into the Transformers Studio Series line, initially revealed several months ago, SS-31 Voyager Class Battle Damaged Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Megatron. He's been appearing in some Asian distribution points, and we've even seen some video reviews over the past month or so, but information about a United States release has been scarce. We discussed in our latest "Twincast" podcast on Seibertron.com that SS-31 would likely be a Target exclusive in the U.S. Thanks to Seibertron.com member Survivefan23, we have confirmation in the form of an actual listing for the figure on Target.com! You cannot find the listing through conventional search methods on the Target website, so follow this direct URL instead. Unfortunately, the listing has Megatron as "Out of Stock," so you can't order him (or even pre-order him) at this time. However, you can opt to have Target email you when Battle Damaged Megatron comes in stock! Take a look at the product shots from the Target listing below to whet your appetite for this highly anticipated release for the Studio Series.

All this shopping for other people has been basically making a Walmart a daily destination....I'm getting tired of it but... I did see they got one case of the latest Deluxe assortment (39,40, & 41, with 22 as the repack of this wave)

It is odd. When this line was first release, I said I'd purchase a combining Jetfire & Optimus if they ever made one. I also said I'd definitely get Devastator. 2 componants are out, and the rest are coming. Lastly, when Cogman was first announced, I thought it was novel (but not likely), that it would just be a TLK re-release (which it basically is with improved paint detail).

As of now, I've seen in store all the ones I said I'd purchase, and purchased None of them. :( Unfortunately my priorities are some very pricey items from the :TAKARATOMY: Legends line, and Siege. I just dont have the funds for this line as well. Additionally, the numeration of the series is something that makes it an *all or nothing* thing for me as well. The last TF line with dedicated numbers I was drawn into was Alternators. I loved that line, and there virtually were no limits, i wish it had continued. SS will, I see, have a finite number of entries, at least until the next Live Action TF movie comes out.

I mean there are definitely anomalies in this line, and extenders such as having all triple changing characters released twice in different modes, cause they cant seem to figure out a triple changer for SS... ;)

But with nearly 50 entries in the line...where does anyone see this line ending? Even for arguments sake, if they end up re-releasing all TLK Deluxe, Voyagers, and Leaders as part of the SS line, do you think they will reach 100 before the next movie comes out? I suppose they could dig deep and release renditions of everyone from the first 3 minute sequence from BB.

Battle damaged Megs has been available on some UK sites for a couple months or so but I've not got it cos it's not sufficiently different enough to the one I already have. The paintjob is nice but to pay again for less of a head? Nah. And I painted my standard figure anyways. I may reconsider if I see it cheap but it's certainly not a priority.

o.supreme wrote:Additionally, the numeration of the series is something that makes it an *all or nothing* thing for me as well.

I thought that myself (I'm one of those number people) but while I've bought a lot of the figures I have managed to break the numeration in some cases due to various exclusives or hard to get figures or ones I simply just don't care for. My Sideswipe and Barricade are Takara ones which are numbered differently so throw my order out the window anyways. I had the Gold VW Bumblebee from the Retro Pop pack but sold it when I realised I don't really want much from the Bumblebee film I very much dislike (and I've been tempted to sell the standard yellow one too, I don't even like VW Beetles that much to begin with). This has certainly easily been the one action figure line in my whole life where I've bought so much from though.

OK so far I have:
01 Bumblebee
02 Stinger
03 Crowbar
04 Ratchet
05 Optimus Prime
06 Starscream
07 Grimlock (though sold and got Black Mamba Ancient Leader in it's place)
08 Blackout
09 Thundercracker
10 Jazz
11 Lockdown
12 Brawl
13 Megatron
14 Ironhide
17 Shadow Raider
18 VW Bumblebee
21 RotF Starscream
32 Optimus Prime
35 Jetfire

Takara
20 Sideswipe
21 Barricade

Bah, those two are bugging the heck out of me not being Hasbro ones.

Sorry for the list. That was more for my own benefit and wondering of how much money I've spent on this line. :P Goodnight :) :michaelbay:

We're up to SS-44 Leader Class Transformers: Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime right now. I don't think the Studio Series will be slowing down any time soon. We've still got 6 more Constructicons to go, as well as a LOT of missing characters from all of the sequels, including Skids, Mudflap, Jolt, Wheelie, Acrcce, Chromia, Elita-One, Sideways, Yellow Rampage, Demolisher, Scalpel, Soundwave (satellite), Ravage, Grindor, Insecticon, The Fallen, Dino, Que, Roadbuster, Topsin, Leadfoot, Brains, Sentinel Prime, Shockwave, Hatchet, Soundwave (car), Laserbeak, Hound (AoE), Crosshairs, Drift (Bugatti), Scorn, Slug, Strafe, Galvatron, Junk Heap, "Two Heads," Steeljaw, Stupid Drone, Hot Rod, Hound (TLK), Squeaks, Daytrader, Dragonstorm, Stormreign, Dragonicus, Steelbane, Skullitron, Nitro Zeus, Barricade (TLK), Mohawk, Onslaught, Dreadbot, Berserker, Cliffjumper, and Shatter (jet). And that's just a mostly complete list of properly named characters from the movies! There's a lot more unnamed or unofficially named filler Autobots and Decepticons that can be used for more conceptual entries. The Studio Series has a loooong ways to go yet until the movie cast is completely represented. I'm hoping it has the legs to go another several years at this point.

For me, Sideswipe and Clunker Bumblebee have been the most rare. First one I saw was Crankcase. Then Barricade. Then WWII Bumblebee. I've only seen Sideswipe and Clunker Bee once, and bought them on site, along with my second sighting of WWII Bee. Now, I only see more Crankcases and Barricades.

Does anyone know off hand what the ratio is for this wave? Having five different figures is awkward, but if Hasbro is smart, they did two each of Sideswipe, Barricade, and Crankcase and left the two different Bumblebees at one a piece.

If I'm remembering correctly, Clunker Bee and Crankcase were the 2 short packed for the wave.

My Walmart used to have plenty of each of that wave's deluxe. Barricade, Clunker Bee, Sideswipe, Crankcase, and WW2 Bee.

Now, all that's left is Barricade and Crankcase, who join the shelf warming resident Dropkick, the remainder of POTP, and the overpriced G1 Prime.

Siege consists of the Battlemasters, Micromasters, and the wave 1 deluxes.

I'm waiting for Siege Megatron to turn up there, so I can use my giftcard on him. Otherwise, I'd half to go to Target him, with Prime

I'm predicting that when my local stores restock here hopefully soon, they will have mostly SS wave 5 stuff, at least I'm hoping to see the Wave 5 voyagers

Well, that half makes sense, I guess. Believe it or not, I really am impressed by SS-27 Clunker Bumblebee. The paint weathering and rust looks pretty good, and makes him a lot more screen accurate in his 70's Camaro form. I especially appreciate that the hinge on the hood and roof assembly now has a pin through it to keep it from popping apart every time you transform it, unlike SS-01 Bumblebee. It is a bit of a shame that the robot mode is lacking some paint detail for the sake of the rust and paint wear on the alt mode. Having SS-01, though, I was able to swap the forearms, abdominal piece, and the arm cannon around to restore some of those lost details on Clunker Bee. There's just a bit of black striping still missing on the robot mode chest and at the very back of the car (over the spoiler) on SS-27, but I can live with that. Clunker Bee with his SS-01 part swaps has become my definitive Movie 1 Bumblebee in my display (at least until the 2007 Concept Camaro finally makes an appearance).

I'm curious if we will see that. Considering we got the MPM 2007 Bee, and then now we are getting the MPM Megatron, it makes me wonder if they are planning to make SS versions of these since the MPMs are already out for them. the other MPMs either came out at the same time or after their respective SS version (except Prime, but it's Prime), so I'm curious.

I am begging for Dino and Wreckers though, come on give us those!

I don't think Masterpiece Movie versions will prevent releases of certain characters or forms in the Studio Series line, mainly because we've already had precedent with the likes of Ironhide, Jazz, and Barricade. Two of those came before their Studio Series version, and one is coming afterwards. Also, the Studio Series is all about internally consistent scale, and the MPM versions of 2007 Concept Camaro Bumblebee and Movie 1 Megatron are both way too big for scale properly with the Studio Series line.

Would make for very easy retooling which would make it even more appealing. With one design, you get the 2008, 2010 and 2012 by just changing the car shell and minor details. For that matter, retool Clunker into the AoE black one

I'm really hoping they don't go that route, unless they plan this line to run on for 5 years or so. That would be acceptable.

If we get a new DotM Bee, I really want him to be capable of having Stealth Force

So this version is better with the pin right? If one were to pick only 1 between the two, which would be best?

The worst part is, she’s not even mine, I GAVE HER AS A GIFT TO MY BROTHER! :BANG_HEAD:

I am not buying Shatter yet, I am sure we will get a better version now that Hasbro has gotten the correct CG models.

It all depends on your priorities in a figure. I suggest doing what I did and buying both versions and parts swap between then to your liking.

Thank You. I decided to do my own assessment, and came to relatively the same conclusion. Except I'm not sure if you meant up to 44 is out now, or we know up to #44 (I found up to #47 online, even though these are not out yet). So, even with 47 so far in this series, I was able to count almost 80 additional characters that would fit into the Deluxe/Voyager/Leader size class. I purposely omitted smaller bots like Frenzy, Laserbeak, Scalpel, Reedman etc... because if they are released at all, I'm hoping it will be with other larger figures, as we are starting to see now.

Still 80 +47 currently known, that is quite a bit. Additionally that doesn't count some toys released in TLK line, and other films, that didn't actually appear, so yeah, this line still has quite a lot left in it.

Most sources I've seen Credit 20 releases for 2018, and it appears even more for this year (though to be fair, several of them are BB variants)....However, if we use a conservative estimate of 20 figures per year in the line, looks like there is enough for at least 4 more years, perhaps more, which takes us at least to the end of 2023...

Also, just a fun fact, it appears every bot from the first Movie has been done except for Megatron, and Frenzy. Movie 1 Megatron would no doubt be a leader class figure. Frenzy would be a nice little add on, since he didn't come with Barricade.

And Bumblebee in the more modern Camaro from the second half of the movie. :) I actually hope they do an all new mold for that cos I'm tired of several inaccurate aspects they keep repeating. Shrink down the MPM Bee please :D (with some compromises made for size i guess but try keep it as close as possible, hasbro) :D

I’d love all of the different Camaro Bees, but as long as we get one I’m happy. DOTM would be my preference, but It’d have to involve a new mold or some heavy remolding to get the chest right (and his lower wings are formed by his spoiler instead of the window pieces, but that was also true for TLK).

Also just got some new Studio Series acquisitions, but I’m going to wait to post them because I might be picking up another one today, we’ll see!

And the pin.
It's annoying. The Clunker Bee has a nice rusty look and that pin in the roof joint, but is lacking accurate paint in places that the first figure has (lacking yellow on the stomach piece, small parts of the forearms and most notably on the cannon arm).

See my post above. You can mix and match pieces with SS-01 Bumblebee to beef up the paint apps on Clunker Bumblebee. :)

I bought an ebay bargain that turned out to be a nice enough knock off of SS18/20 etc. Beetle Bumblebee, thing is I was expecting a deluxe and instead got something that's shoulder height with CW Ultra Magnus/TR Powermaster Prime. So my favour/question is, What height or class is the official mold?

Thanks, I'd kinda answered my own question by watching a review of the official toy. I've ended up with an oversize KO then, but it's surprisingly good quality and they've improved it a bit by enclosing the waist swivel front and back with some detailing to the front piece, The arm sword has some vaguely Cybertronian squiggles along each straight side of the blade. A lot of it is held together with screws, No Autoboot insignia or VW badges though, and no battle mask.

Well, the hasbro one is of pretty low quality, so I;m not surprised, does it tab together well in vehicle mode?

SO, I finally decided to just bite the bullet with Thundercracker after backing and forthing for a while. In the end, he's fine. He's alright. I'm not blown away overall. There are things I really like, things I don't, but in the end he's a figure that's okay.

So, good stuff. I love his headsculpt. The very spider-like eyes as compared to Starscream's more avian face makes for a nice contrast. The fact that it was TR Titan Master compatible was a pleasant suprise, but I was a little bit miffed it wasn't it's own bot, but that's no matter in the grand scheme of things. His cockpit looks like it could fit a headmaster in there too, which is a neat touch that they didn't need to add. His deco's pretty clean too. The blue contrasts well with his grey and the red and silver on the wings.

For not so good stuff. His transformation feels rough as hell, and even after doing it a few times it doesn't feel quite right. His legs don't tab into everything like they're supposed to. His altmode looks pretty good when it's altogether but getting it there feels nowhere near as satisfying as something like SS05.

Like I said, he's fine. I don;t regret him. For £20 he's a decent sized voyager and doesn't feel under painted or anything. I don;t think I would have got him otherwise though.

It holds together pretty well, about the only niggle in alt mode is a few triangular gaps in the roof line and round the windows and the rear engine lid dislodges with a touch. The tab underneath to store his gun arm on doesn't hold ('though the blade connectors are fine), the body piece isn't big enough to grip the gun hole and there's another one on the inside of the roof which can supposedly hold the arm/gun arm or blade in robot mode, none of them fit that either.

He makes a good companion for HA Bee.

Despite not being quite what I was expecting I'm happy with him, and at the price the deluxes are going for now and the QC issues I did end up with a bargain IMO.

Do the chest pieces in robot mode tilt upward like they do on the official? Because I have looked at every single KO of this guy and the MPM and they all have the chest pieces straight out like yours does, which leaves some gaps in the chest in robot mode. I'm hoping that's just a mistransformed chest

I love Thundercracker, my favorite Seeker got to use my favorite movie mold from the past several years! The head is cool, I love the colors, and the Transformation is really fun. Watch the tabs on the feet and inner knees, that might be where the jam up is in your jet mode.

Also, found these 2 last night. Still forming thoughts, but Scrapmetal is definitely the superior toy here

BTW, that stand is new, which is why it's in the background with a flying Prime

Good idea.

The shoulders are really weak, and for some reason, there is car kibble going the entire way up the back of her thighs and overlapping her back, really limiting her posing

Is that not just on the Movie Masterpiece Bee, they tilt up to reveal 'missile pods'? There's no further transformation in the chest past what's in the pictures, this is an oversized KO of the deluxe toy, not the MMP. There's only a side to side swivel which untabs the chest pieces for them to rotate up.

In that case, i think its best the discussion continues in the KO forum.

I spotted Leader Dark of the Moon Megatron last night at Target and picked him up! I saw him about a month ago initially, but wasn't ready to buy him just yet. I also saw Jetfire then too, and didn't pick him up at that time for the same reason. This time, Megatron was alone, though. I haven't had time to open up Megatron yet, but he looks fantastic in package right now. The sculpting and paint apps are top notch. I think he'll easily replace Voyager Revenge of the Fallen Megatron on my movie display shelf for the time being.

I found SS Blackout and SS Barricade for 4$ and 3$ respectively. Brand new and in their boxes. They are both fantastic figures, if a bit fiddly.

On a side note, also found a brand new Siege Sideswipe there for 8$, but didn't pick him up. Maybe next time

Not sure where I'm supposed to talk about this guy.
Here or the Bee Movie toy thread. But, he's Studio Series, so I'll put it here.

Image
From the get go I thought he looked neat., but was always on the fence about whether or not I'd pick him up. Well while hunting other TF prey, and in an impulsive fit of plastic crackheadedness, I got him!.

So pleasantly surprised how cool he is. I'm not a movie fan, but I like a good toy. And this Prime is a really good toy. Aesthetically for me, he is the perfect combo of traditional Prime design and Movie madness. The transformation is really nice. Actually the perfect combo of what I just described for his aesthetics. A bold statement, but it's boardering on MP level. And unlike his SS Movie co-star, he tabs together like a dream. Clean as a whistle! The legs are a bit fiddly, and in truck mode there is an odd gap in the rear section.t There are a few other minor nits I could pick, but I won't, because none of them ruin the fun of this toy.
He has great articulation in bot mode. Especially the feet. Gotta love good foot articulation. He has well done and generous paint apps. And NO FAKE CHEST! Always a plus for a Prime figure. Just a solid Transformer in both modes.

I hate you, and the horse you rode in on!!!!!!!![/jealousjellies]

Man oh man, I've been through the circuit of all 8 Walmart's and 3 Targets in my area 4 times in the last two weeks trying to find this guy. No dice. One store had a single Seige Soundwave and Starscream, and another store had one case of wave two siege deluxes. That's it. That's all I've found, and all I really want is Prime 38. Sure, I've got it preordered, but I'm old fashioned and still love to find figures in the store.

I wouldn't say that's old fashioned at all. Sure, online shopping is more convenient, but nothing beats the thrill of the hunt.

I know you don't mean that, ol' buddy. Plus you've met my horse and you guys hit it off!Image

What's rediculous, my tale is almost exactly what you described. All those Walmarts, again and agin, over the past two weeks. I have been searching for the wave 2 Siege Voyagers, and after all that hunting this guy shows up. I think it's why I impulsively jumped on him. After all that effort, I wanted to bring home some kind of prize.

The good news is, no regrets! SS-38 is all that and a bag of chips!
Good hunting Densh! ;)^

How di you get a Blackout for 4$?! That's a ridiculous deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats!

Thats amazing compared to what I have, which is absolutely nothing. All I have for siege is Wave 1 and the latest wave of Studio Series is the one with helicopter dropkick. Canada has had nothing remotely new for those lines in 3 months time at TRU or Walmart.

Oh and Cobo, I like my Primes the same way I like my women, with real chests.

I think from reviews I've seen you can store the gun in between the legs to help fill out that gap and integrate it a bit more.

Optimus and Rampage showed up at my Walmart as well, 4 of each. The Prime figure in robot mode looks just as hideous in hand as he did in pictures, but I'm softening on the truck mode a bit.

I wasn't gonna collect the SS Constructicons, but seeing Rampage and Scrapmetal next to each other kinda makes me want to...
