I agree, but for whatever reason that's the horse Hasbro is backing right now. They've given them the Ectotron exclusive and in Canada they've become their default store for exclusives to stores that don't exist in Canada.

Also, for anyone who's curious, Ironhide's code is TRITHYLLIUM, and Sixgun's is METROPLEX (no surprise there).

I'm liking the way those fire blast effects from Firedrive look on Chromia's back thrusters in alt mode. Have you tried experimenting with her transformation yet to find a suitable "big gun" mode for a combiner like Elita Infin1te/Orthia to hold?

It is tough to tell if he has waist articulation or not. All of the Hasbro digital renders have him mistranformed. The nose of the jet is supposed to fold under the cockpit but it isn't in the official renders (so very Hasbro). The Takara official photos have him correctly transformed, but I can't tell if there is a waist swivel or not.
An you're right. I mistook the crotch area for the nose of the jet but now I've looked closer at the stock photos of the bot and jet it looks like it's a different more detailed piece compared to the blank area of the nose and that waist articulation could indeed be possible. That seems quite clever improving on the functionality of the G1 design while still looking very similar.

As a bonus, someone else posted a photo from Toyfair confirming the waist swivel.

The end of the nosecone folds down, so the cockpit in the chest is the same from the alt-mode, but the part below the waist is not.
Posted by Counterpunch on March 14th, 2019 @ 10:43am CDT
That being said, I cannot see it as anything other than a soft reboot of Classics/Generations. Everything has a consistent design and also seems subject to a 0.75x multiplier on the height/size of deluxe and voyager figures.
I feel like some figures from Siege kind of have the option of floating up or into the older Generations territory. Skytread, Cog, Brunt, Reflector...but the more mainline characters are dwarfed by older incarnations or characters who they should otherwise be paired with.
All of this is cool btw. Not being critical at all. I'm an adamant Generations collector and honest reflection on the line and scope says that it's pretty much drawn itself to a close.
I also think that there are some interesting releases from the past few years that are somehow forwards compatible with Siege. PotP Dinos, for instance, were definitely too small to be paired with other traditional Generations displays...but they scale damn well to Siege.
Honestly, after so many years, I think it was kind of just difficult to come to terms with starting a whole new Generations style display. But with a lot of thought into it, there's a lot of fun ahead.

Yeah. I mean I don't care for myself cos I'm not collecting this line and never been fond of boxy Jet/Skyfire but I like that Hasbro designed it that way for those who are going to be spending quite a bit of money on that figure.

Simulacrum Blaster - so it's like a blaster? It blasts likenesses?
Stethoscopic Detector - looks like a rifle to me, so what is it detecting?
Magnetic Inducer Launcher - ok a fancy way of launching rockets - cool!
I love that Siege names all the weapons and outside of these silly names, they are a lot of fun. Magnus's weapons are very customizable.

I agree some of the names are weird. Soundwave’s are weird too.
Back to Magnus. I’m on the fence if I like the black guns... they feel off.... attached to the silver gun. And using them by themselves they feel way too tall. They do make good leg armor/flip guns though.

They look cool, but feel unnecessary. I wish they could peg together to make one thicc gun. I found that if you peg them into the backs of his legs, they just disappear.SpikeyTigertron wrote:Back to Magnus. Another user shared this clever use for them as well.
They'll end up in my un-loved accessory drawer ultimately though.

I've found that they scale well as a set of pistols for a combiner. Mine in particular are going to the Elita-1/Orthia Combiner, if/when Greenlight and Lancer ever show up.

This is why you and Scotty need to do the Classics/Henkei/Universe/Generations retrotake like you did for Masterpiece. I would even argue that even though most of Combiner Wars (the repaints as the Autobot Cars dont hold a candle to the Clasdics line) still slot in, and TR and almost all pf POTP still offered the same new takes as previous lines, Generations got away from the OG Classics/Universe mantra when it started being "serielized" with the Prime Wars trilogy. (Not that that is a bad thing, but it is a change) You might be able to make that pitch for the HFTD/RtS era, and maybe when they adopted IDW, but that was more of a relection of another trend rather than being a trend, or in this case a mainline release.

Personally I feel that a lot of the Prime Wars Trilogy stuff fits with Siege to some degree of success, and even some thrilling thirty stuff, but anything before that tends to look over-sized. Especially when you look at figures which were already too tall for what they should have been like Universe Sideswipe. Actually, if they weren't all redundant or too small, most of the original classics 2006 stuff scales pretty well with Siege.

It'll be okay, though. Siege + Classics seekers + TR Frenzy/Rumble + Prime Wars Insecticons + CW Devastator should be a fine season 1 lineup. Megs and SW alt-modes will be the biggest difference, and I can live with that.
Posted by Flashwave on March 14th, 2019 @ 12:56pm CDT
The smaller gun makes a great shpulder cannon and looks good as a pistol. I almost like it more than his actual rifle.
Yes, thats Club Side Burn behind him and the minicon is Universe Roadhandler who came with Swerve. Makes an excellent Powered Buggy
AcademyofDrX wrote:Notable exception: the Classics seeker mold is too short instead of too tall. They looked fine beside Megatron and Shockwave, and I think Soundwave will be okay, but Reflector is going to throw the whole thing off since the Siege seekers are voyagers.

For me, the Classics Seekers trump everything simply because I have 8 of them. The Og Trio, the Coneheads, Acid Storm, and the Botcon repaont of Ramjet as Dirge as a random seeker (because we totally had random seekers painted as other seekers, so it kinda works)

I dunno. Even way back before I switched to movie-stuffs I was buying Classics and I had Starscream and Skywarp and still felt they were too short in robot mode and obviously far too small in jet mode (compared to Bumblebee and Optimus' vehicle modes but this often happens with G1 stuff cos of silly scale). They were certainly huge improvements on their G1 toy counterparts though.

And I dont disagree with the critisim. But I doubt we will see the Seeker Renaissance that we got with the Classics Mold again, between the Universe decos and Botcon redecos (I want Nacelle and the Welcoming Committee, and the G2 decos could be worked in as crowd filler if I ever find those cheap) and for me not having at least the 6 will bug me more than them being short.
Getting back to topic, Fun fact that at least one HFG from Combiner Wars is Blast Effect conpatible.

Yeah, the entirety of Prime Wars (CW, TR, and PotP) feels like it was done as a transitory step towards this reboot. Some of the toys along the way very much feel a part of the old Generations take while others feel like they really should have held off until the new stuff came about.
I really want to put together some cast shots of Prime Wars figures mixed with siege to get a feel for it.

I mean, in Magnus' case his buttflap does double as a giant amored plow-thing with potentially guns on them in vehicle mode so there is a logic in saying its butt-armor.

I watched his review the second the notification popped up, and after watching it, I gotta admit that MP Teacks is still worthy of the Masterpiece title IMO. Sure, he's hollow, and that backpiece likes to pop off, but his articulation is decent, vehicle mode looks great, and his robot mode is nice. Plus, he is the best Tracks we have, so he lives up to the reputation of "Masterpiece offers the best version of a character"(ignoring a few glaring exceptions )
Anyways, he does deserve a better figure than the RTS one, and I would love to see how they can capture his sleek robot mode and incorporate his most important features.

Totally worth it. Depending on your Grimlock his stock forearms may break a peg when you take them off. Some are glued, some are not. One of mine was so I had to cut it.
The legs are done very easily and to great effect.

Won't happen any time soon since he didn't win the poll that's getting us Impactor and Mirage. He'll happen eventually, but there's no telling when since Hasbro is a little strange when it comes to the losers of the polls.

Well, to be fair, I think it's safe to say that we're likely to get them in this trilogy, as there's likely some designing done for each, they have no gimmick they need to conform to (like the 'evolution' gimmick of potp) so they can just be them and be released as standard figures. Also, we've finally gotten the omega supreme from the titan class poll, as well as, probably, some form of the 'evolution' magnus and shockwave from the potp poll
