The Shattered Glass universe was created by Fun Pub for their BotCon 2008 set (and featured regularly thereafter). The concept, was inspired and homaging the Mirror Universe from the Star Trek franchise, whose episodes featuring the concept were titled similarly (e.g. "Mirror, Mirror", "Through the looking glass" and "Shattered Mirror").

Now that they're next to each other, I notice more of the differences than I did before. I might have to pick up the new one if it's as structurally sound or better than the PoTP version. The colors look good on both, but I like the toon/comic-accurate chest and head even better.

Yeah, and the Twitter comments mention that Takara also kept some of the toy sticker-based paint apps of the Hasbro version so as to keep the Takara version from looking too plain.Rodimus Prime wrote:Now that they're next to each other, I notice more of the differences than I did before. I can all but guarantee that this will not be structurally better than the Hasbro release. They would have to remove the ball joints in the limb bots and replace them with ratchets, to start.

For one, Sinnertwin and Cutthroat are mistransformed in leg mode: Sinnertwin's shoulders are supposed to be swung back like in monster mode, then have the feet peg into the back where the robot mode legs are (same for Snarl btw), while Cutthroat's arms are supposed to be straight down along the body like in monster mode. Not that would make the latter any sturdier...

They did the same for the Dinobots, so not surprising. I know some fans complain about the stickers on the PotP versions, however I don't understand the reason to remove the ones that aren't obscuring any new molded details.

Cartoon-accuracy. It's Takara's thing.o.supreme wrote:I know some fans complain about the stickers on the PotP versions, however I don't understand the reason to remove the ones that aren't obscuring any new molded details.

Yeah, I know all about that, and I'm all for it. I just don't see how the stickers take away from that.

It's detail that wasn't in the cartoon models, so from Takara's view, it doesn't belong.o.supreme wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Cartoon-accuracy. 4.Super Jet

The manga considers Megatron Omega to be a separate mode since its power is increased from Ultra Megatron.Sarahthecutevixen wrote:Sabrblade wrote:I keep forgetting about that mode. So I guess that makes him a 7-changer.

For whatever reason, screen accuracy is less important to me for the characters from 1986 on.

Same, I'm perfectly happy with the potp versions.

Edit:
Strangely enough just received noticed yesterday that this order was processed and shipped. Not complaining and things do change, so I am definitely not complaining.

Except for the extra weapons, like the guns on Grimlock. This is where I fall from grace and go to 3P

I ended up preordering mine from Entertainment Earth, and just saw the expected ship date change from December 2020, to March 2021. Things happen, I am not upset about it but just wondered if Hasbro Pulse or any other sites has shown a shift in a expected ship date.

No delay yet, but it would be welcome with how busy December is going to be right now.

Also just saw he's on preorder at Target.com.
Sorry if this is old news!

New size box means new hopes dashed.
Just how many sizes of Selects boxes do we have currently? We have Deluxe, Voyager, Leader and now "UW"... am I missing any?

Yes, you missed "skinny deluxe" for the Micromaster Spy Patrol 3.

But wait, there's more!!!
All the Seacon limbs use the Deluxe size box, but Trutler's box is a unique size. it is larger in length and width than Leader Shackwave, but smaller in thickness.
I'm not sure on Star Convoy, who I don't have. Turtlers box would be too skinny, so he either uses the leader size box or a unique size.

Initially I admit I was hoping for a UW styled box, but that was a while ago. I just basically wanted it confirmed to be one gift set, as opposed to selling these five together (but released in 5 individual boxes), which could have just as easily happened. At least now we have a template if someone wants to make a custom UW style packaging for this

And then Hasbro will come along and stick the whole thing in a nondescript black box with just the Selects number on it.

Photoshop? So there's a picture? In reply to your comment in the Netflix topic, it would be Machine Wars Sandstorm, not the G1 version of the character.
But like others said over there, we're already getting G2 Sandstorm, I don't see it being Selects. Could still be an exclusive elsewhere, we've been speculating on a MW Soundwave since ER Doubledealer was announced and the two are fan canonized rivals.

I think a repaint of the Siege Spinister mold as Machine Wars Sandstorm is a little lazy. It wouldn't even have the cockpit (not cockpits) on the chest. Oh wait, that's right! They already did that with Spinister to make Rotorstorm, so yes, I wouldn't be overly surprised to get a little Machine Wars love.
Speaking of which, I think a redeco and retool of Earthrise Doubledealer as Machine Wars Soundwave is the best option to reuse that mold. We have the ICBM mode and the robot mode, but the seemingly extra bird beast mode could be Soundwave's "Laserbeak" mode.
