Fellow Seibertronians Cyberpath and Silly Springer have some goodies for us. Cyberpath has done a pictorial review of Mindwipe, pointing out some fun playability not discussed yet. We added images from our Seibertron gallery to show the difference between the Takara and Hasbro version. But first, we also have a video review of Legends Soundwave which compares both versions of the toy.

Face-sculpt is really nice. Spot-on and looks kind of evil. I appreciate Takara not "settling" for Hasbro's sculpt (which was already pretty close) and taking this extra step.

First off he passes the "can hold his gun with two hands" test.

Legs are clunky but are kind of like Megatron's from the side, which is rather nice.

Transformation felt simplistic the first time, but I appreciated it more when I had transformed him back to bat, without the instructions. I like how the large red bat wings become purple legs in robot mode. And he still has proportional wings as a robot.

Except for Skullcruncher maybe, the Titans Return figures have such innovative, MP-like, transformation steps.

The lack of ankle tilt on these guys though makes it difficult to balance them on one leg, like a running pose. Because they're molded in an angle.

I don't understand or particularly care for the use of rubber. Does anyone know how to twist rubber into the proper shape/angle?

A little disappointed that you can't give him a half-beast half-man mode like Skullcruncher & Weirdwolf; but on the other hand HasTak made this very easy --

Transformers News: Video Review of Takara Legends Soundwave and Pictorial Review of Legends Mindwipe

Bat mode in the cartoon was cooler looking. But I still like it. And how Vorath can tab to his back like in Rebirth.

I don't like the wrong colour limbs on Vorath though, bought some paint to fix it, I might.

Mindwipe has less articulation than Skull & Wolf in beast-mode.

The pilot hatch reminds me of the transtectors of the Destron Headmaster Juniors from the "Masterforce" cartoon.

But hands down, the coolest feature in LG34 is the mind-control abilities.. I don't know how Takara did it, but it's really neat!

From Cybertron Philipines, we have in package images for the upcoming second assortment of the Robots in Disguise Combiner Force toys. While many toys repeat, we do get the new warrior Decepticons like Soundwave and Skywarp, and Blurr gets 3 toys through different classes. You also get a new class replacing the 3 step changers called Hyper Flip. These seem to be new molds but they are very reminiscent of the 3 step changers. Also, the repacked Windblade seems to have different paint apps. Let us know what you think. Here is the breakdown:

Combiner Force Legion Wave 2 – Blurr, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Bisk
Combiner Force One-Step Changers Wave 2 – Blurr, a new version of Sideswipe, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Drift
Combiner Force Hyper Flip Wave 1 – Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Grimlock, and Thunderhoof
Combiner Force Crash Combiners Wave 2 – Skyhammer and Stormsledge, Primestrong and Beeside.
Combiner Force Warrior Wave 2 – Blurr, Soundwave, Skywarp, Grimlock and Windblade.

We have a new sighting for you to check out today, this time in the form of a video showing that Combiner Force is hitting US retail! Youtuber Panda Prime Productions was kind enough to take this video from the local walmart, showing Combiner Force Beeswipe (Bumblebee and Sideswipe) And Prime Strong (Strongarm and Optimus Prime). In the video, it is shown that the figures appear to be going for around $9.84 per 2-pack, about the price of a 1-step changer. Now that you know they are hitting the shelves, go out and find yourselves some Combiner Force combiners!

They were also kind enough to share new artwork of Double Pretender Optimus Prime!

You can check out the Facebook release below, along with the new artwork!

We will still be filling TFSS 5.0 orders, selling licensed Transformers Club/Convention product and offering customer service in 2017, however our time as the official Transformers Collectors' Club ends tonight at midnight EST. Differences Between Takara and Hasbro MP11 SW Masterpiece Skywarp

This is surprising, it turns out there is an actual difference between the most recent release of Masterpiece Skywarp and the Hasbro Asia release of two years ago. It was taken for granted that the previous Hasbro Asia release was simply the Takara release to be sold outside Japan but that is not the case. Fellow Seibertronian Powered Convoy, (Randy of the Allspark) has done a write up of the differences between the recent release and the one from two years ago, and seperated them between what he finds better, worse and inconsequential. This means that there is indeed a distinction between the Takara version of MP 11 Skywarp and the Hasbro version, even though North America has yet to see this toy released. How do you completionists feel? Were you aware? Does it look like one of them is sporting the movie Decepticon symbol? Let us know.

The Good:
- Black painted biceps and knees are now black plastic
- Chest fans are considerably darker
- Joints are really nice and tight (unlike Thrust and his wobbly waist), though this isn’t any better than the original
- Heel spurs, and jet exhausts are darker

The Bad:
- Torso area behind his biceps is no longer painted silver, just silver plastic
- Bottom of shoulder pylons are considerably darker

The Indifferent:
- Purple is much warmer purple
- Symbols are lighter
- Chest missiles are darker
- Silver feet detail is darker
- Buttocks is black plastic
- Yellow wing paint is lighter and does not extend past molded detail
- Window is lighter but less clear

So really nice. I do like the old purple better, though this purple is similar to what was on the Henkei (not exactly the same). The biceps and knees being cast in black rather than painted is a definite improvement. As they are kind of distracting on the original. The lack of paint on the chest section is disappointing.

So it’s a matter of how much the change in purple bothers you (if it does at all) and how much the lack of paint (good for the biceps & knees, bad for the torso section) matter to you.

Looking at them from here, the black plastic biceps and darker chest fans are winning me over right now. You can’t lose with either of them. The ideal for me would be the 2016 version with the 2014 purple and painted chest part.

In all the pics the China 2014 version is on the left, the Japanese 2016 on the right.

Randy

Straight from the Cybertron Phillippines Facebook page courtesy of fellow user steals_your_goats, we have packaging images for everything (sans Leader-class Sky Shadow) in Wave 4 of Titans Return - including the very recently confirmed Krok and Quake; redecoes of Wave 1's Skullsmasher and Hardhead!
With the packaging reveal not only comes some neat art and a close look at the toys themselves, but also finally the reveal of the names of the Titan Masters of Topspin, Quake and Krok - respectively; Freezeout, Chasm and Gatorface.

Have a look at the embedded images below, keep in mind that this wave has re-releases of older figures in the Legends and Titan Master classes:

All this Titans Return Wave 4 news exciting everyone? Well, we've still got some news from Wave 3 - specifically, a new trailer recently released by Hasbro advertising the wave. It features - rather unsurprisingly - Optimus, Megatron and Hot Rod; but it also rather notably features Sawback and Fangry, this being the first time these characters have been featured in American animation. Check out the 20-second TV ad embedded below!
