Great news for Americans looking for the 2020 Studio Series figures, the new voyagers have just been spotted at Walmart. Chris, a friend to the site reached out on Facebook to let us know that he found both Studio Series voyagers SS-54 Movie 1 Megatron and SS-53 Revenge Of The Fallen Mixmaster at in Savannah, Georgia. This hits the same time as the same voyagers hitting Canadian retail at EB Games. Since the deluxes for that wave (Arcee Sisters, First Movie Bumblebee, Soundwave and The Last Knight WW2 Hot Rod) reached both Toysrus and EB Games in Canada, it will probably be just a matter of days before some shops in the US get that stock too. All these toys are slated to be in stores January 1st so it makes sense that some start trickling down as we cross the first half of December. Since we still have yet to see those deluxes at US retail, let us know if you find them.

If you have found the other toys mentioned, share your sightings with our community in the sightings section and on our boards in your region related thread.

Pictorial Review for Deluxe Shockwave from Transformers Cyberverse

The new deluxe Cyberverse toys are by far the toy which fans are most curious about. We all know more or less what to expect from more toys from the Studio Series or War for Cybertron Trilogy line but this is completely new.

I will start by saying this, while these deluxes are the same price point as a Studio Series and WFC deluxe they are as different from either of those as a Studio Series toy is from a WFC toy. It's a different feel and aesthetic. This review is for Shockwave. Now, right off the bat my first impression was that he was far less interesting than the other two, but there is a good reason for that: he already had a decent toy. Megatron and Optimus are both infinitely better than whatever else you can get in that scale in that line, but Shockwave had several good toys, in whatever scale you wanted. Unlike all other warrior class toys, his warrior figure did actually feel worthwhile. The fact that the spider tank needs him to have crucial articulation like knees and elbows made him leagues better than any other warrior figure.

So now we have this deluxe which costs a third more and the big question for me was, is he a third better? The short answer is objectively yes. As you will see in the images below, he is gorgeously painted on all sides, which really helps in the tank mode. He has way more articulation like ankles, head, waist and a wrist. He has lots of accessories, like a nicely painted gun (a way cooler gun than any other weapon to come with any deluxe this year), two clear effect parts that can combine and a removable clear plastic tube attached to a gun hand that you can insert above his hand. Meaning that unlike many other Shockwaves we got recently, you can give him either two hands or have one be a gun hand. So yeah, he has a lot more to offer. Oh yeah, he also comes with a leg to build Maccadam, but that's a bonus I will write about in another article.

In terms of complexity, objectively he has a lot of steps. He has more steps than the new Studio Series deluxe Soundwave (is also bigger, more articulated, and has more accessories) for instance, if anyone cares about value comparisons between two new toys that cost the same. But the conversion is nothing special. Not only because it's a very straightforward transformation due to how obvious the limb placement is, but also because it's the same transformation we got for the warrior Shockwave. It's more refined, of course, like now you completely replace robot hands with spider tank feet (adding 4 steps to the transformation per arm), but it's still the same brush strokes arriving at a similar alt mode.

Speaking of the alt mode, while the deco is way better than the previous toys we got for this designs (and I do like the front spider feet), I think the warrior looks better. The big cannon is more central while it's too far back on this deluxe. It makes the tank look more on the long side rather than being a more symmetrical X shape. Even though they go more out of their way to make the alt mode different than the robot mode, even so much as adding extra antenna for the tank face to differentiate it from the robot mode chest, the fact that the cannon is smaller makes it look more like the robot on all fours.

Speaking of the cannon, which also fits over the hand, the clear tube connected to it is rather rigid. So it isn't easy to pose. It will revert to whichever pose has it in a relaxed position. This really hurts poseability in robot mode since the gun arm will not keep a bent elbow due to the wire being rigid. Speaking of accessories, his effect parts are compatible with 3mm and 5 mm ports so you can use them for Siege figures too.

You can remove the tube and gun arm for robot mode and it still looks great. The deco helps a lot of course, and he has all the articulation you'd want, but my favourite part is the backpack. Not only can it serve as a place to post his cool gun when hes not using it, but the G1 callback is great. Especially the sculpted circle at the base of it.

In the end, he looks great, feels great and has some really nice accessories. Not a fan of the alt mode, but that is par for the course with Shockwave toys and I knew what I signed up for. He's worth a Siege deluxe price point, more so than I feel the Siege leader is worth his price point, so take that as you will. And now I will leave you with some size comparisons to other deluxe toys.

Thanks to regular YouTube reviewer TonTon, we have a review of an upcoming figure that was just officially announced weeks ago, that of Shatter, in her jet mode! This new iteration of Shatter sees her in her Harrier jet mode that she scanned upon meeting Sector 7 in last year's Bumblebee movie. This version of the Decepticon seems to be a marked improvement upon car mode Shatter, who was notorious for loose parts that would pop off easily. As TonTon shows, this new mold holds together well and also has her movie accurate face sculpt.

Shatter isn't scheduled for release until the second quarter of 2020, though she is available for preorder at various retailers right now.

So, for you, how does she compare with her previous toy (if you have it)? Is this a figure you plan on getting? Let us know in the comments below, and keep your browsers pointed towards Seibertron for the latest in Transformers news!

Greetings Seibertronians! Fresh from the first official promotional pictures of the Chinese Exclusive Nezha : Transformers toyline and cartoon, we have our first video review!

Blog Autobase Aichi found both the new in package pictures of the Nezha figure and a video review on the Chinese social media site, Weibo.

Here is the new in package images, with a close up on the back showing another two characters from the show. These were posted by Weibo user DioXDio.

The video review details the articulation, the conversion from Robot to alt mode (as well as showing us what's underneath the car mode) and shows that the weapons can clip together (though this primarily looks to be for storage purposes rather then anything else.)

The video review is in Chinese though,so please bare that in mind. The review was created by Weibo User Tao Ge Evaluation.

What do you think of this first release of this exclusive toyline? Any of you feel the urge to hunt down Nezha? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

I will start by saying this, while these deluxes are the same price point as a Studio Series and WFC deluxe they are as different from either of those as a Studio Series toy is from a WFC toy. It's a different feel and aesthetic. This review is for Optimus Prime. This toy is a third more expensive than the simplified warrior class Prime and it is twice as good. But that still doesn't say much and I will admit, while this is very much a traditional deluxe fans are accustomed to, I think it still falls a little short.

We've had deluxe Primes before, and this one won't join any of my top lists. While he is faaaar more articulated than the Prime we got in RID, his design is just the standard G1 Prime. You already know how the legs will transform. Then again, now that I think of it, when it comes to deluxe G1 Primes, this might be the best one. It's not like the competition is fierce. He isn't anywhere near as good as the WFC deluxe Prime we got from 2010 though, when just thinking about deluxe class Primes.

Transformers News: Pictorial Review for Deluxe Optimus from Transformers Cyberverse

The robot mode is far better than the cab mode. While the cab mode is better than many recent primes (POTP or anything else from Cyberverse), it is still filled with gaps. The base of the cab mode is quite an eyesore with these protruding hinges that make it look like he has a snow plow attached.

The Transformation for his upper body is fine. The way they handle the front wheels folding away is something I found new for Prime and I do like the added step of the headlights folding away, but that's as far as it gets for ingenuity. At least there's no cheating with fake parts. It's a good looking robot mode though. The back is nice and neat with some nice added detail and weapon storage. His deco is great. There is a lot of minutia with the front of the truck and the feet. I also love that blue plastic for the legs. I would have really loved them to paint those forearm triangles yellow though.

I like that the chest opens to reveal the matrix and that you can use the effect part as either coming from his blaster or from his chest. Speaking of the effect part, it's compatible with other effects from Siege and even with 5mm holes.

In the end, he definitely deserves that deluxe label. Compared to Siege Prowl for instance, he has a as much if not more parts (Prime felt slightly more complex), more paint apps (though the amount of paint is probably the same), two combining effect parts and even a build a figure piece. We all paid a similar price for less than what we are getting here but small Optimus Prime toys were never really my bag and I don't think this one knocks it out of the park. I will leave you now with some size comparisons with other deluxe figures.

I will start by saying this, while these deluxes are the same price point as a Studio Series and WFC deluxe they are as different from either of those as a Studio Series toy is from a WFC toy. It's a different feel and aesthetic. This review is for deluxe Megatron.

In terms of complexity, Megatron is as complex as you can get for a deluxe figure. He feels closer to the 2012 deluxe War for Cybertron (the videogame) Optimus Prime in terms of what the transformation entails. I tend to never look at instructions for Transformers, but with this toy there were some parts that were so unintuitive to anything I had played with before that I needed some directions. This is not a bad thing at all, instead it shows that after a myriad of tank Megatrons, the designers can still come up with fresh transformations. I am happy to finally get a good toy of this cool looking futuristic tank alt mode. It looks like a tank designed by Elon Musk.

The most interesting part of the transformation is how neat the tank parts compact into the robot's back without giving him too bad a backpack. It really feels like the ideal type of transformation to me, where you have the alt mode changing shape to form the robot's mass. That aspect feels a lot like the War for Cybertron (the videogame) deluxe Optimus I compared him to earlier.

The design is great too. This is a near spitting image of the Cyberverse design which itself was based on the Evergreen design that we all thought was awesome. The face is where the cartoony aspect comes in.

He comes with his arm cannon and 2 clear effect parts (along with the build a figure piece). The cannon can be placed in the classic manner on the robot arm but can also be handheld and it can also be held by both his hands to replicate the fusion blast effect from the Ultimate Megatron toy. The effects are both 3mm and 5mm compatible, so you can do whatever you want with them.

The part that differentiates this toy most from Studio Series or Siege, aside from the aesthetic and scale, are the joint types. While this is a very complex toy, the fact that this is still the kid cartoon line seems to honour the tradition of ball joints. They give great movement but they also make the toy feel very much like a toy. Limbs can be more easily removed if excessive force is applied (rather than breaking) and there can be some looseness. Mine can hold poses well, as you can see, but they do feel a bit loose depending on which direction you move the legs and arms. The ball joints do give him a lot of articulation though. He also have wrist, ankle and waist articulation.

Overall, I came for the design and stayed for the involved and new transformation. In terms of value, I feel we are getting something comparable to other deluxes asking the same price, like Siege Prowl, and that's before I consider the Build A Figure piece which I always feel should be a bonus and not something that influences the price. Here, it's more of an incentive to buy the whole line, which I am fine with.

People have been calling these small deluxes, but the size seems rather average to me, I will leave you with some comparisons.

New information on the Raiden project is now available at the Special Exhibition Tenku no Railroad Story at the Mori Arts Center Gallery & Sky Gallery in Roppongi Hills Mori Tower.

The main details are that the toy will indeed be part of the Masterpiece line, making this the first Combiner to feature in all the years the Masterpiece line has been running. It has been said that the designers want the alt mode to satisfy even "train" people, meaning railway enthusiastics. This will probably be along the lines of realistic alt modes.

The translation below has been machine translated for the most with some tweaks done to aid grammar. Have a read and let us know what you think.

Beyond the 35th Anniversary, Toward 2020
Mitsuhito Ohno, Hisashi Yuki and Daisuke Onohara

-Let's open with thoughts on 2019 as we look back.

Ohno: After all, “Bumblebee” was big. The movie itself was very appealing to the G1 design, fans of the past were happy and I think the general public enjoyed that it looked like this (different from previous movies). I also enjoyed it personally.
Onohara: For marketing purposes, it was very good that the movie had all-ages content that could be enjoyed by children and family.
Yuki: It was a good movie that allowed you to use your characters carefully. Thanks to “Bumblebee”, I think that there will be a chance to create new types of video works in the future.
Ohno: The possibilities have expanded, and expectations for the next movie are increasing as soon as possible. Another thing that impressed me personally was that Unicron was established, and I can't tell you the exact date, but in 2021, it will reach my Japanese lol. I'm most impressed by how [much space will be needed] to place it at home, so be prepared now (laughs)

-Ohno, you can order a large number of items in Japan, thank you so much. How about the new anime “Cyberverse”?

Onohara: It was a new challenge, but I recently exhibited at the Tokyo Motor Show [and observed] there are quite a lot of children who come close to Cyberverse.
Ohno: It’s an advantage that you can watch it many times.
Onohara: This is an anime that asks Miwa Iwano for sound this time, so that various people can enjoy various ways to enjoy it. The number of viewers is also increasing because of the increased activity of major characters in Season 2.
Ohno: Toys are also good products. It ’s very interesting. First of all, it is a toy that is interesting to play with. Since it has a toy-like gimmick, I'd like you to play with it as a toy.
Yuki: In conjunction with Hasbro's “Generations Selects” in the United States, we started out in the form of trying to select characters that would not be featured in their lineup or regular “Generations”. With Legends, I was able to put it up to Dai Atlas, and I thought it would be Star Convoy the next time. I want to [make challenging] Japanese characters in the future. A large item called King Poseidon also appeared. Fortunately, the idea of the development was that I thought it was a little ... that the combiner would define it, and that the [sixth] last scrambled unit would not come out. I want [to satisfy] the fans that have collected so far, so I wanted to meet that honest hope and commercialized it.

-As a high target item, how was the Masterpiece brand in 2019?

Ohno: I am also a member, but now Masterpiece is a development system with project members. Yuuki Oshima, who draws design sketches and gives ideas to TF fans, is one of the important members.
Onohara: We were able to release Convoy Version 3 and Bumble Version 2 for the 35th anniversary. Fortunately, Masterpiece started at the 20th anniversary, so when the series reaches its 40th anniversary in 5 years, then Masterpiece will reach its 20th anniversary. Then there will have been Masterpiece for half of the Transformers' history. Because it has progressed with a good feeling for such a long time, it seems that it has a product specification that can withstand such upgrades.
Ohno: Even if you have the same character, it's all right, so I would like to put out an evolution by changing the specifications. Minibots are almost untouched, and there are many things that can be done.

-You collaborated vigorously.

Onohara: I think the most important purpose of collaboration is to create opportunities that people who once knew the Transformers brand and those who knew it were able to feel “what is interesting”.
Yuki: Thanks to movies and so on for the past few years, it seems that collaboration has become more eager.
Ohno: You may be able to say that you can now truly collaborate.
Onohara: There was also a second G-SHOCK and an amazing collaboration with BUMP OF CHICKEN was also realized rapidly.
Ohno: A woman at a live venue wears a t-shirt with Bumblebee. I saw it and it was tremendous.

- Finally, please tell us about 2020.

Onohara: First of all, it's not the end of the 35th anniversary, but in February we will carry out the “Transformers Examination”. Especially for the intermediate level, it will be a good test of your skill, so I would like you to challenge it. After that, Netflix's new animation will be distributed in Japan. Fortunately, there’s no movie, so it feels like it ’s normal (laughs). We are also preparing new works for “Generations Selects”, so please be patient.

- What was the recently announced “Raiden Project”?

Onohara: Isn't everyone thinking "No way !?" This time, we decided to officially produce Raiden for Masterpiece. I don't know the release date yet.
Ohno: I want to use vehicle mode that will satisfy even the “Train” people.
Yuki: We are very much looking forward to Mr. Ohno joining the project. Masterpieces were handled by young people so far, so there weren't many patterns to make together with your own toys.
Ohno: That's right, you're going to recreate the Raiden that you did with yourself. I have to do my best.
Yuki: You can do many things that you couldn't do at that time (laughs).
Onohara: In this way, veterans make wonderful items, so I would like to deliver them firmly to everyone.
