And while you may not think this news, San Diego Comic Con is also about the people present as well as the products, media and comics on display - and Seibertron and Va'al made sure to take in as much as humanly possible in the days attending the event, part of which you can experience for yourselves in our latest gallery of Miscellaneous images from the 2018 convention last weekend!
Featuring the likes of IDW Publishing editor in chief John Barber, Takara Tomy designer Shogo Hasui, voice actors Frank Todaro and Jason Marnocha, IDW artist Marcelo Matere, Unicron.com brother Jason Lukis, Jon Bailey, Robby Musso, and more (including the terrifying but bold face make-up and Bumblebee accessory kit)! Check out the full gallery here, and some highlights below.
To add to our coverage from last weekend's IDW Publishing panel at San Diego Comic Con 2018 - titled Unicron and Beyond, but really just showcasing everything that brought us here and where we're at - we now also have a full gallery of the panel!
In the images, which you can find in full here, and some selected shots below, you'll see covers that were revealed during the talk, the full panel of speakers and creators, and coverage of Lost Light, Optimus Prime, Unicron, Transformers vs Visionaries, Star Trek vs Transformers, and some GI Joe news. Check it all out below!
Unicron has arrived in IDW Publishing's Hasbro-verse - intent to eat everything, but first the publisher wants to rundown the menu in a special Comic-Con International: San Diego panel. IDW's Editor-in-Chief John Barber is scheduled to be joined by associate publisher David Hedgecock, editor David Mariotte, and Hasbro's Director of Global Publishing Michael Kelly to talk about the current Transformers: Unicron event... and what comes next.
In the entirety of the news stories that came out of the Seibertron.com coverage of San Diego Comic Con 2018, what took less of a spotlight were the various officially Hasbro licensed Transformers products that populated the convention floor, some of which got their own quick news story, some of which have been patiently waiting until now and the posting of our latest gallery containing all the licensed stuff, which you can find in full right here!
With order, then, you can find below products from Jada Toys, Alpha Industries, Super7, Pop Culture Shock, and more. Check it all out, and join the various conversation threads in our Energon Pub discussion boards.
With a title like "Light Bringer", you may think the Seibertron.com Twincast / Podcast has traveled into Westeros to talk about the chosen hero, but that's not the case! Host Scotty P is joined by Megatronus, RodimusConvoy13, Rotorstorm, and Tigertrack to combine into Unicron's doppelganger while breaking down the comic named after the Chaos Bringer.
Here's what we talk about during this episode, including Unicron topics and other recent news and reveals:
We open with some loose banter about Death's Head and his recent appearance in Marvel's Infinity Countdown: Darkhawk before moving into a quick chat about the last days of Scotty's local Toys R Us.
Optimus Primal seems to have actually won the Game of Thrones.
Someone's bold prediction for SDCC exclusives turns out to be half right! We discuss the surprising reissue G1 Dino Cassette SDCC exclusives, packaged with a not-so-surprising Studio Series Bumblebee.
Generations Blast Off is a toy that we never really discussed much on the show, so it gets some time in the spotlight.
While on the topic of Generations exclusives, Counterpunch and Repugnus also get a turn in the discussion.
The second half of the show starts in on our comics discussion, beginning with Optimus Prime 20. As usual, we don't hold back on spoilers, so if you're not caught up on Transformers comics and don't want to be spoiled, look out for 1:10:15 - 2:18:20 in the audio.
Unicron 1 has arrived, and it sure does look great! What does the cast think about the rest? Two words: sub club.
Lost Light 19 is the first of two new issues of Lost Light that we have to discuss, showing how extra-spoiled Transformers fans have been over the past several weeks.
Lost Light 20 rounds out the comics hour, as we salute one of the great achievements in recent Transformers comic book storytelling.
Bragging Rights takes us to the end of another episode, with things looking partly Cloud-y with a dose of Brawn.
We'll be back in just about a week with all the latest from SDCC 2018! And those Siege announcements that happened the day after we recorded this one.

The Seibertron.com Twincast / Podcast returns for an episode brimming with more jokes and fun than you can put 90s vac-metal chrome on top of. Join host Scotty P as he chats about your favorite robots in disguise with Megatronus, Tigertrack, and our latest guest podcaster Flashwave!
Episode #202 "ReChrome 2: CyGate" is available directly and in our RSS Feed, and should appear on iTunes, Google Play, and Stitcher Radio within 24 to 48 hours of when you see this news post.
Here's what we talk about during this episode, and it isn't CyGate:
The Hall of Fame... does not matter is the end of that sentence. That said, we have some fun while the crew submits their votes during the show.
Brief in-hand impressions of Power of the Primes Abominus occur as Scotty P recently completed his set thanks to the quick stocking of site sponsor The Chosen Prime.
Lost Light 18 - the quest is over!? We look at the latest entry of IDW's Lost Light series in full detail. If you're looking to avoid spoilers, steer clear of 1:17:32 - 1:48:22 in the audio.

It is that time of year again folks, the time of year when we get ready to vote for this year's nominees for the Transformers Hall of Fame! This announcement is to let everyone know that from now up until June 29 the Hall of Fame is open to nominees for Favorite Transformers Character and for the 2018 Toy of the Year. The nominee cannot be someone who has already been inducted, and you can see a list below along with the nominee information.
So get your nominees in and let us know who you think deserves to be in the Hall of Fame next!
Hi Transformers fans!
It’s that time again to make your voice heard in the Transformers Hall of Fame vote for 2018! Hasbro is asking fans to help nominate inductees into the Transformers Hall of Fame within two categories. The categories are:
· FAVORITE TRANSFORMERS CHARACTER (Fictional Robot Character)
· 2018 TRANSFORMERS HASBRO TOY OF THE YEAR
As you know, no characters who have already been inducted within the ‘Favorite Character’ category will be considered for nomination. A list of inducted characters can be found at the bottom of this email.
The new category ‘Transformers Toy of the Year’ was introduced in 2017 to provide fans an opportunity to share their passion for the figures that have been the heartbeat of the brand for over 30 years. This category will continue in 2018 and is meant to celebrate the new product within the calendar year and the ongoing efforts of the Hasbro Transformers team to fulfill the desires of our many fans around the world with innovative and exciting toys. All nominations for this category must be toys newly released by Hasbro in 2018 and can include figures that have not yet hit shelves in the calendar year, but have been announced.
We ask that you poll your readers to determine the characters they wish to be considered for each category of the Transformers Hall of Fame and share your Top 3 nominees for each category (six nominees total) including the number of votes with us no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, June 29th.
Please rank your outlet’s polling results list in order of who received the most votes for each category. All polling result lists will be combined together, each outlet getting an equal voice. The combined values will be used to generate the final ballot of three choices for each category. Details will follow regarding the official voting process in the coming weeks.
Winners of the final polling will be announced at SDCC during the official Transformers brand panel on Thursday, July 19th at 11am in Room 29AB.
As a reminder, below are the previous inductees into the Hall of Fame. If you have any questions about eligibility, feel free to reach out.
Roll out!

Welcome to the latest episode of the Seibertron.com Twincast / Podcast! This episode features your host ScottyP with Megatronus and RodimusConvoy13. Listen in as we discuss the latest news, toys, and more.
We've got Bumblebee on the brain - what with the movie trailer up and all - and the Twincast crew is here to articulate what we think sets this 'prequel' installment apart from the main Bay-verse of the first 5 movies. In tone and style, at the very least, it looks like we have reason to believe the film will be nostalgic, heartwarming, and a boon for the flagging movie franchise. In other words: believe the hype. Want more? Check out the News Crew's apt analysis of the movie's probable success here.
Fly like a butterfly...
The latter half of The Toys That Made Us season 1 (#TTTMU) has been released to Netflix, and we're ready to take a closer look at the Transformers episode. The story of Transformers is uniquely complex, and the show does a fantastic job of breaking it down. We certainly learned something new, and share our appreciation for the front loaded history, even as we hope for a post Beast Wars follow up. Did we mention that Seibertron.com's own founder, Ryan Yzquierdo, is featured prominently on the episode? Bonus: the News Staff is here to give you the play by play.
That shirt sure is a sexy piece of work...
Masterpiece is on our minds, specifically MP44 Beast Wars Megatron and MP42 Cordon. We marvel at the masterful engineering of Megatron, even as we speculate wildly at the likely high price tag, and give an approving nod to Cordon, and the continued trend of pre-Transformers / Diaclone redecoes of these Masterpeice figures. Oh, and as we talk shop, more images of Megatron drop. Did we mention he was massive?
Yeeesss, that's Air Attack Optimus Primal next to him. That's when his scale REALLY hit us.
We're not quite done with Masterpiece yet - we have yet to discuss the 'toy accurate' MP29+ Shockwave and MP36+ Megatron. Shockwave is purple. A purplier purple... perhaps even the purpliest purple. We were fine with the old purple, but are also fine with the new purple... it takes saying purple a half-dozen times to really think about how weird the word purple is, doesn't it? Anyway, while we pine for grey Shack-wave, we take on the weirdness of MP36+ Megatron - the chrome, the side cannon, everything. It's so ugly, we love it - all that's missing is a trigger crotch.
Gives a new meaning to the term 'bucket head'.
Requiem of the Wreckers is on the chopping block, and we just wish we could get more. Va'al's excellent review for this excellent book can be found here. This book truly is about relationships between parents and children, and we seek to explore those relationships through the prisms of purity and corruption. The narrative seamlessly flows across the past and present (and in the end, future), and across artists, so just watch out for those emotional punches as Roche bids a fitting farewell to the current cast of Wreckers, and alludes, perhaps, to something new. If you want to avoid spoilers for this issue, the time in the file to avoid stretches from 1:23:00 to 2:04:20.
Just because you can't force people to change, doesn't mean they don't.
Here we make a brief mention of upcoming reissues. First, we look at Beast Machines Air Attack Optimus Primal, and second, we talk about the reissue of our very own RodimusConvoy13 in the form of his adolescent self, G1 Hot Rod, who hasn't been widely available in this form for over a decade. The Twincast Crew then shares what G1 figures they'd like to see reissued - we have some solid recommendations.
A Wal-Mart exclusive!
We conclude this episode, like we always do, with bragging rights. What has the Twincast managed to find since our last recording?
We are much obliged, Ollie's!

Hey Seibertronians! It's my pleasure to announce that I'll be presenting my Panel "Never Grow Up: How Toy Collectors Created an Industry" at this year's Denver Comic Con, one of the largest conventions in the country! This is the same talk I gave at last year's Fort Collins Comic Con, just obviously on a bigger scale! It'll be on Saturday (6/16/18) at 4:30pm in the Central City - Mile High Ballroom DCCP3, if you're around, please come check it out! I'll have a large table with an awesome display spanning the generations of Transformers toys, from G1 to now, as well as TF comics and toys to give away! We'll go on a brief journey though comic and collectible history, and show how this new demographic of adult fans impacted that industry! We'll also have a short Q&A at the end, just in case you have a question about my presentation, my work at Seibertron, or my thoughts or opinions on anything that comes to mind! Would love to see you there!
Welcome to the latest episode of the Seibertron.com Twincast / Podcast. This very special 200th episode features fan-favorite writer and artist of many IDW Transformers comics, Nick Roche, as he sits down for his first interview about the upcoming Requiem of the Wreckers! He's joined by your host Scotty P as well as Va'al. For the rest of the episode, the team of Counterpunch, Razorclaw0000, Tigertrack, xRotorstormx, and Megatronus help out in the proceedings. Listen in as we discuss what has changed and what lies ahead.
Episode #200 "Requiem of the Twincast" is available directly and in our RSS Feed, and should appear on iTunes, Google Play, and Stitcher Radio within 24 to 48 hours of when you see this news post.
We begin our 200 victory lap with the man behind Requiem of the Wreckers, and architect of the wider Wreckers mythology: Nick Roche himself. Goofball extraordinaire Va'al and our tireless host ScottyP join Nick for a robust conversation about the latest Wreckers installment, which comprises the first 90 minutes of the episode. Our incisive interviewers begin with the genesis of Requiem, and how Kup's death sets the story in motion. We learn a great deal about the development of Springer & Verity, and what (literal, figurative) roads we can expect these characters to travel down.
More car than helicopter this time, really.
Our conversation with Nick Roche continues with an analysis of Sins, and how that story of loneliness and isolation gives way to something entirely different in Requiem. For general comics enthusiasts, we go plenty deep into the mechanics of storytelling, how certain narratives come to be driven by characters versus conflicts, and Roche's comfort transitioning from drawing humans to robots. We also learn more about the role Mayhem may play in future stories, what to expect from the IDW reboot, and of course, Unicron.
He still is!
Of course, Scotty is also giving away five copies of this one-shot in a totally-not-official-or-site-sponsored giveaway! Just comment on this story on our Energon Pub Forums and tell us what the Wreckers stories have meant to you for your chance to win. On the comic's release day, Scotty will randomly choose five winners and contact them via Private Message. One international winner will be chosen while four United States residents will have a chance, so be sure to include your location - and Seibertron.com staff, sorry, even though this isn't official you aren't eligible for this giveaway.
You can be a winner too
ScottyP takes the episode forward by... looking backward. Counterpunch joins the dialogue as our podcast hosts, past and present, embark on a Twincast retrospective. What has changed personally since the show first started 8 years ago, and how have we seen the brand evolve in that time? Change is life's only constant, after all (cliche much?), and we're all for looking at it under a microscope.
Change: more complicated than a One-Step.
Following this deep dive into the annals of history, ScottyP caps off his time traveling journey in the present, where he joined by Twincast regulars Razorclaw0000, Tigertrack, xRotorstormx, and Megatronus for a handful of well thought out and appreciated Listener voicemails. Let's listen, shall we?
We start off with news team member WilliamJames88, who wants to know what our favorite Transformers toy lines since 2010 have been. To much shock and bewilderment, no one chooses Titans Return of Masterpiece - what were we thinking? Then, frequent listener and friend of the pod Joevill recounts being convinced by Razorclaw0000 that Dark of the Moon Legion class Hatchet is pretty awesome. We agree - and hope to see you again at a convention soon.
The best Transformer, ever???
The mighty Samsonator wants to know what's changed since starting the show - thereby giving license to the rest of the cast to chaotically riff on ScottyP and Counterpunch's previous segment. We look back with affection. Then, sometimes cast member and always pal Mr. Starscream says listening to the podcast is like hanging out with your friends, no matter where you are, which leads to some fun Twincast anecdotes and listener appreciation.
Just getting by with a little help from our friends.
Frequent commenter and insightful boards poster Flashwave asks what toys we've been memorably Counterpunched into, and if any of those items were memorable for being great or a dud? We also get into what lines we're just relieved to be no longer hunting. Then, Ultra-Australian UltraMarginal wants to know what our favorite G1 toys are - his is a tie between Jazz and Skids. This gives the Twincast a chance to reminisce on our favorites, and what has managed to hold up (or not) over the years.
With super science action!
We conclude this episode with a special message from news team member Bronzewolf, and look forward to more episodes to come - excelsior!
For your consideration: a literal bronze wolf.
