I can't remember the last TF before this mold (Screamer, Blitzwing, Thrust) that had a robot mode which I loved so much yet a vehicle mode that I couldn't stand.

If I ever find them on sale, I'll be picking up all 3 of them. But as they are, to me they're not worth $30 each.

With a listing for DOTM core class Laserbeak, I'm curious what you all are hoping for with core class in SS.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how it'll work scaling wise - SS scale Laserbeak is really, really tiny, and I have no idea how they'd handle something like Frenzy - I think Frenzy would have to be a tiny static figure (or maybe minimal articulation) to work in SS scale.

However, I think Scorponok is a good fit for core class, and I really like some other ideas I've heard like Oreobot and Dispensor.

Also, do you think it'll be pink Bumblebee Laserbeak? I actually really like this idea.

Honestly, I'm just really happy we have a new listing for something SS Bayverse! We hung onto those ROTF Bee/Jolt/Grindor listings for over a year.

I think Mohawk, the Twins (let me live in denial  ), Squeeks, and maybe slightly improved Arcee gals would be good uses for a new SS Core class

So, I've seen this:

Image

TRANSFORMERS STUDIO SERIES LEADER CLASS 86-12 CORONATION STARSCREAM

STUDIO SERIES LEADER CLASS: Leader Class figures are 8.5-inch collectible action figures inspired by iconic movie scenes and designed with specs and details to reflect the Transformers movie universe, now including The Transformers: The Movie!

8.5-INCH SCALE CORONATION STARSCREAM: Figure features vivid, movie-inspired deco, is highly articulated for posability and comes with 2 null rays, 2 shoulder armor pieces, crown, cape, and throne accessories

BIG SCREEN INSPIRED: Figure scale reflects the character’s size in the world of The Transformers: The Movie. Figure and packaging are inspired by the iconic All Hail Starscream scene

2 ICONIC MODES: Coronation Starscream figure features classic conversion between robot and jet modes in 29 steps. Perfect for fans looking for a more advanced converting figure. For kids and adults ages 8 and up

REMOVABLE BACKDROP: Removable backdrop displays the Coronation Starscream figure in the All Hail Starscream scene

Figure scale: 8.5 inches

That figure scale :-?

Have they made a brand new, bigger version of Earthrise SS?

It's the exact same thing as the ER voyager, but with new hands to give him articulated fingers.

But....

Figure scale: 8.5 inches

The added height (1 & 1/2 inches) surely can't just be the crown?

I see. I did wonder why no one seemed to mention him, after a quick skim of the last two pages of the Studio Series thread. I didn't think I would be first for news on a SS figure...

Yeah the Studio Series thread was cut in two a few months ago so that the ss86 Assortment would have it's own thread.

BB & Sam have arrived, and its o.k, but damn, didn;t realize SS deliuxes were this small.

The Yellow is nice, very close to the original mustardy yellow.

I think I’ll stick with OG Bee.

'07 Jazz is even smaller.
But that least, the design is fantastic and only the MPM is better.

For Bee, the hive is huge enough to find anything better than the SS easily.

Yes. But I kind of wanted to try out an SS bee.

Have not picked up anything from SS outside of SS-86 Hoit Rod, Grimlock and Cyclonus.

Bayverse SS clearly a downgrade an dyes SS-86, clearly an above average line.

If you only talk about Bumblebee, that's true. But so many SS bayverses are so superior to the originals. Like Jazz, Soundwave (even the satellite one) Sentinel Prime, Jetfire, the constructicons, Grimlock, and too many others to count.

I think the SS Bumblebees are better than the originals. The originals are great, don't get me wrong, but I'm amazed how much more accurate and detailed the SS ones are at a smaller size, especially SS-49/74.

Topspin is the only SS figure that doesn't live up to the original IMO.

I only have clunker Bee (who is bad) and Jeep Bee (who is flawed with it's huge arms hanging under the car).

IMO it's either SS-49 (07 Concept Camaro Bee) or it's slight retool SS-74 (which Overcracker just got). It's really complex for a deluxe, but the result is spectacular, it absolutely nails the looks and proportions of movie Bee.

SS-74 (ROTF Bee) has a nicer shade of yellow and the feet tab in better, but it's missing paint apps on the grill and has a lighter shade of gray plastic. ROTF Bee has more potential, but if you don't paint it I'd lean a little more towards 49 (07 Bee).

So I finally got the infamous DOTM deluxe Soundwave by getting Movie Advanced Darkness Soundwave. Appart the fact that the damn thing almost cost 80$CAN taxed and shipped, how it is?

Image

Transformation was pretty intuitive appart the arms who were not that easy to figure out. The car is pretty damn nice looking and it will be fun to have the SS DOTM Soundwave in that sexy deco:

Image

Back to bot mode, this version don't come with any weapon. That's pretty unfortunate. The bot is pretty nice looking, if you conveniently ignore the huge backpack. On his own, "Soundblaster" is a pretty fine bot mode.

Image

But compared to the recent SS figure.... OOOOOOOOFFFFFFFffffffffffff...... That old deluxe is so outdated!

Image

Barely any movie accuracy, tiny fake chest, long spidery arms, and that huge backpack that is in-your-face from the front. The Studio Series deluxe is so superior, it make look the old deluxe like some amateur cosplayer.

Still, I like that old deluxe very much and it was fun to make an "old VS new" comparison.
