He's confirmed to be a voyager in the listings. I'm not too particular about scale and don't own an original Silverbolt, but if he's a Beast Wars deluxe, he already sort of would be about current voyager size, wouldn't he? In which case he'd be tall enough.

I don't agree. The original toy is great for its line, with a fantastic sculpt and play features, and the articulation is quite good as well. But it would never pass as a modern figure generally or a Generations figure specifically, even beyond the brick-like backpack. If you only care about a show-accurate bot mode, then hold on to your original or seek out an affordable used copy. For many of us with modern Transformers collections, this will be a welcome pickup, even if it ultimately sacrifices the screen-perfect sculpt. Honestly, I'm in just for the increased poseability in the wings, which was another limitation in the original, since their orientation was fixed.

Yeah, I mean, it's subjective. Personally, I don't mind styles clashing a bit within a line, and actually prefer figures from different universes to clash, because that's the fun in them having distinct origins. I wish I had an original to hold on to! I was a little kid when Beast Wars was on, so I only have three of the 1998 Beast Wars dudes. And one of them is Airazor, who wasn't even on screen.

I sold off almost my entire Beast Wars collection in part to fund Unicron. Vintage toys look good standing around on a shelf, but usually don't pose or play very well. I decided I was all-in on modern figures as a result.

Though because I had bought a second Silverbolt to keep on card, I decided to hold onto that, so he's one of the few vintage beasts I kept. TM Tarantulas is the other, because that design is one of the best of all time, and there's no way he'll look as good in a modern toy because of the chrome.

The chrome thing is interesting, I think it occupies a similar space as the minicon/combination/cyberkey gimmick of the Unicron Trilogy, in that it's a central feature of the original line... that will no doubt get dropped in any new reinterpretations of those figures.

The figure should be bigger than the original, too. Screen accuracy aside, the wing articulation alone isn't enough to make him a Voyager, otherwise Airazor would be one too because her wings are pretty crazy.

I noticed he was called star Raider both by Mark and by BMac, is that an alternate name for Star seeker or is that an error? Or they changed the name because "raider" is more menacing and "seeker" makes them sound like explorers?

Maybe just rebranding it because "Seeker" already refers to the Decepticon Jets and they thought it might be confusing? Or maybe star raider is just synonymous with space pirate in Transformers and Star Seeker is the group. There's no mention of "raider" in the Star Seeker topic of TFWiki.

I really didn't want to buy this figure, but after looking at these shots, I think I might have to. My collection philosophy is "G1 plus whatever's cool," and this is definitely cool.

I really want that in Go Prime colors (which is just Nemesis colors, but come on!). Alpha Trizor would be nice, too. Don't really need another Leo Prime from this mold, though.




I have all four, but I find the transformation frightening, it's so fragile feeling thanks to the clear plastic.

It's probably just an error. He later uses "star seeker" correctly further into the post.

Legacy chase review is up

I like this mold a lot, the transformation is cool and both modes look nice and clean. Those shoulders are unsettling though, I hope the pieces around there are solid

Chase looks good but I'm not attached to the character, nor do I find the headsculpt cool enough to convince me to pick him up. Can't wait to get whatever this guy gets retooled into though, hopefully Cliffjumper. If lockdown I'd still get it though

Is Beast Megatron from Kingdom, the T-Rex one, will be reissued in Legacy next year? I thought I saw some listing that confirms it if I remember.

I double-checked the leaked product listings we have, and no, T-Rex Megatron is nowhere on there. The Leaders in future waves include G1 Sandstorm in wave 2, Armada Galvatron in wave 3, a Soundwave that we don't know very much about yet in wave 4, and Thundertron that might just be the Voyager figure with some extra stuff as a Wal-Mart exclusive.

if ross is really doing scourges/nemesis at $17 dunno why theyve chosen to repack g2 prime. Sandstorm better be very impressive at leader class pricing.

I'm glad people like T30 Sandstorm, but I want my G1 figures to look at least a little like G1. He's desperately overdue for a figure inspired by his original appearance. A VTOL helicopter was an inspired modernization, especially for a retool, but it's not my Sandstorm, it never did anything at all for me.

What I mean by "better" is not only should he look good in all modes, but he should feel good in hand and the transformation must be as satisfying as the T-30.

My local Targét stocked some new stuff and the only big immediate draw for me was Trashmaster ! Although Detrius did tempt me
Anyway, T Master is really good, my fav thing about his robot mode is that he looks like Bulheads edgy cousin. And the transformation, specially of all the new modular Junkions, is the best. Everything fits and locks in wonderfully. Very solid.

Totally agree. I passed on that one, it was just too far off the mark for me. I've looked at getting one more recently, but just couldn't. All I see is a weak Springer retool, he deserves a mold made specifically for himself like the other Triplechangers, he's the only one that hasn't gotten that yet while everyone else has already had that twice (once in Broadside's case). Looking forward to seeing how the new one turns out.
