I wonder how necessary the cab is to the larger figure made from the trailer.

I ask because I wonder if the old Classics Ultra Magnus cab can be switch in for it.

I think it's permanently attached at the hitch/swivel to magnus back.

also I wish they would have a generic flat front cab compared to the chibi truck face...but oh well he can live in bot mode.

I seriously dont see the point of the little robot inside magnus. It should have been a matrix. Instead of scale images with CW megatron, they need to show the pic everybody wants to see...next to city commander.

What about the rocket launchers ? Your image doesnt show them. Obviously they arent any type of G1 but FP used a similar design. Was FP going for a comic magnus back in the day or did hasbro use FP IP?

Also you really believe hot rod was more deserving of the matrix than magnus?

Mr X, you may already know how the G1 Magnus toy worked, right? So, the minibot is an hommage to that. I also love the concept of a minibot piloting a larger bot. It have all kinds of tactical advantages! Plus, more play value I may add.

The point is to represent what's going on in the comics, and give fans a bonus. Don't like it? Don't use it. You can make Magnus with or without him.

Anyway, I'm way more exited about that one that I ever was over the MP. For me, having an amazing leader size and bad-ass looking UM for 200$ less than I would have to pay a MP count for a lot.

yeah.. masterpiece magnus is still FAR superior to this.

no doubt this figure will utilize the same awful ratchet joints we've been seeing with the other voyager and leader figures.

they couldn't be bothered coloring the thing accurately which is a bit annoying. the outward shoulder joints are REALLY weird looking.

every time i see a new photo of this figure, the less i like it. i'm sure if takara releases it, i'll like it again. i really wish the thighs were red with a blue crotch. with all the cost cutting going on, they could've at least gotten the colors right.

lastly.. who in the hell was selling masterpiece magnus for $250? magnus was easily attainable for $150.. and yes, it is most definitely worth $100 more than this leader figure.

Except the way his legs and crotch are coloured are actually accurate to how he looks in IDW currently. He changed the colours around season 2 of MTMTE if I'm right so yeah they got the colours right on the toy. Also you can adjust the shoulders so those outward joints can be covered.

I went and checked the more recent issues, and while his legs are indeed white now, his crotch is still blue.

I may be wrong but unlike the MP UM which you can disconnect the cab, I don't think this could be separated.

CHUG is not in the 1980's G1 universe.

The IDW Transformers comics was the inspiration for this CW Ultra Magnus toy.

Speculating a Third party will replace Minimus ambus with something a bit more G1.

OK, so shajaki has joined the "League of Leader Megatron Owners" and has thoughts.

I think this figure is BRILLIANT. Sure he has some shortfalls, but over all I don't regret a thing. In some poses I really don't like seeing the sticks his arms are attached to, the cannon could be more maneuverable (position on arm and horizontal movement in tank mode), and those feet could use an ankle tilt. Those are my ONLY complaints. Barring those, this toy is damn near perfect in my eyes.

The working tank treads. Score.
Head sculpt is killer (liiiiigghhhttt piiiPPPIINNNGGG!!)
Enough articulation to do loads of fun stuff.
Like the arm cannon either way, but love the look of it fully extended *snicker*.
Transformation is simple and fun without feeling dumbed down or "simplified".
Tank mode is solid (and doesn't get the aversion to silver tanks).

Sajaki, glad you could get your hands on this magnificent figure!

Many think the "inner arms sticks" are a bit derpy looking and I agree. However, it's a brilliant compromise to allow a tank turret that can fully rotate. Also, yeah, some ankle tilts would have improved the posability a lot, but it dosent break the figure.

Now, to wait for the innevitable clearance sale of Armada Megatron...

Yes. The turret mechanism transformation is pretty brilliant too. This whole time I wasn't quite sold on the mold, especially Armadatron, but now he's getting bought just on principle
