The team looks good, the limitations are expected but no matter. He's a cheaper alternative for those of us who can't afford the third party combiner teams. Hope to get them if able.

OMG! FIRST ENGLISH REVIEW!

I can honestly say that I forgive HasTak for all the bullsh*t combiners they have given us in the past few lines...we are friends again HasTak and I.
Now c'mon Takara lets see what you have planned for our beloved Devastator...please!!

I suspect Hasbro just got tired of seeing 3rd party companies coming out with bigger/better combiners, seeing people making money off them, and not being part of the action. Whatever the reason, I'm glad they finally got their act together and have started making some decent combiners...

Very thorough, very well done review with little time wasted. Only part I didn't understand is when he claimed to prefer the retail deco over the SDCC deco, and then in the very next breath complained about the tire rims not being painted....a major feature of the SDCC edition.

If my snark translator is working correctly, I believe the point he was attempting to make is that we Transformers fans fell in love with the franchise even when first-generation toys were unequivocally worse toys than what we are getting today. Yet there are those among us that believe that what Hasbro has been serving us with this Devastator is the pinnacle of cheap, lazy toy design in spite of the fact that had we received this toy in 1984 it would have been held as the greatest robot toy ever conceived in our wildest imaginations.
But my snark translator might be a bit out of tune.

Probably some Pre-Transformer thing since the line started properly in 1984.shajaki wrote:I feel this is a fine community. Do tell, whats a Holowmus Prime?BlueBefore wrote:I thought it was rather befitting of this fine community.

On the mark. Some people................well you can't please despite whatever else you do. Don't know if it's for the sake of complaining or just trolling.
I keep on repeating this in my previous posts....back in the G1 days, we had to use this while squinting our eyes.......
G1 Bumble didn't look like his show counterpart until the Takara TFC 2004 release. Did we complain back then?
Now, we have advanced engineering technologies and still people are complaining.....on something NOT RELEASED yet!
If the complaint is about design faults like for example, Ironhide henkei drooping head or MP09 exploding shoulders..........justified.

THAT'S NOT HOW YOU PRONOUNCE FLUSH.
That review triggered my inner grammar Nazi a bit.
That aside, Great review. To the point. Less than half the length of the chinese one with the dude who had disgusting fingernails.
I'm really hyped for this figure, and I can't wait to have him in hand. I wish I could get my hands on the SDCC version though, as I'm so tempted to bust out a paint brush to add little details in, and I know I'll end up doing too much and making a mess of it.

there may be some minor problems I have with Devy but all the pro's completely over shadow any of those flaws.

Looks like vehicle mode for the Hasbro retail version, in an ugly brown box tray.

I think it's an amazing looking brown box. It's not like you're displaying the tray.

I actually it rather be in vehicle modes, then in either combined mode, or robot modes. I like transforming it from vehicle mode, and it being kind of a mystery of how big robot mode is. I also don't like it already in combined mode, because I want to have the experience of combining them for the first time.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Agreed.
Also, whenever I ship anything like this, I like the vehicle mode because it's more compact and solid. Fewer arms or legs or things hanging out potentially getting moved/shifted/broken/loosened etc.
Keep it simple... keep it safe. At least till it arrives in the buyer's home
Posted by william-james88 on June 18th, 2015 @ 9:27am CDT
There is a limit of 2 per person and the estimated shipping date is August 1st 2015.
Also, the price is 10$ more than the 169.99$ cdn price initially listed on the computers (pictured below), which is similar to the US preorders of 159.99 being generally 10$ higher than the previously rumored MSRP.

Me too! But it would be Takara. The added weapons and prefered headsculpt as well as the probable greater ease in getting him takes the sdcc version out of the equation for me.

I know I've said this before, but I really hope, to combine with Devy, we get a 3rd party set of: Prowl as a torso, Hook as a leg, and maybe some better arms for the individual robots.
Or even if we just get better arms and combiner bits, that would be nice. I would MUCH RATHER the combiner bits to actually transform into normal looking weapons, than those Constructicons just holding the combiner pieces like idiots.

I agree that figures boxed in vehicle mode makes for a more fun experience, but that SDCC packaging is pretty cool.

No, each individual constructicon has a ton more paint apps. And the headsculpt is different. It is not the version with the shades, he has individual eyes in the SDCC version (which I like less, personally).

The shade of green is the plastic color, not paint. The OTHER details are paint.

Also, there's no difference in the shade of green between U.S. Retail and SDCC. That's just Hasbro's bad and inconsistent product photography at play.
Here's a photo of SDCC Devastator in-box without Hasbro's bad retouching:
And here's a photo of the retail edition from Amazon:

It should be the same time, August. That's what has been said as a release window from the start.
Then again, I would have said the same thing about MP Bluestreak but for some reason TRU doesnt have him in the states yet.
