What do you think of this new Earthrise Deluxe Class Cliffjumper mold? This is the first time in a long while that a figure has been designed to be G1 Cliffjumper from the ground up, rather than a repaint of Bumblebee or a reuse from another continuity's version of Cliffjumper. Let us know your thoughts in the comments that follow, and stay tuned to Seibertron.com for the latest news in all things Transformers!

The smaller, the better, I say. Makes it easier for him to scale correctly with the Legends Class figures from Thrilling 30 and the Prime Wars Trilogy. Anyone got a picture handy of Titans Return Bumblebee next to Siege Voyager Optimus Prime?

I don't care about the guy's exuberance. I care about whether or not I like the figure based on what he shows. I actually expect exuberance (whether or not I agree with it).

Wolfman Jake wrote:How do people feel about the parts-forming rear end of the car/backpack of robot mode? I wouldn't mind it as much if the back end turned into a useable shield or something, a la Titans Return Brawn, but it's pretty much just back kibble and nothing else of note.
I mean, I'll be honest, I'm not happy with it, but I can also see a potential shield. It's not great, but it's not a deal-breaker to me because at least it can store in robot mode. If it had nowhere to peg in robot mode, then I'd be a little more annoyed with it

It looks like a usable shield to me. I don't mind the parts forming, especially when useful and besides it looks good pegged into his back.Sentinel_Primal wrote:I mean, I'll be honest, I'm not happy with it, but I can also see a potential shield. Me five minutes later: What's wrong with you, it's fine, it looks good in both modes, pretend you're an adult

That'll be the real tragedy. With the size comp to Siege Prime, CliffyJ appears to be just a bit taller/bigger than a legends figure.Wolfman Jake wrote:It's disappointing to me with the partsforming, but it's not a complete deal-breaker. I'll be way more upset if Cliffjumper is still grossly oversized compared to the T30/CW/TR/PotP Legends Class figures.
Of course it's hard to get a good sense of scale at these different perspectives. Bee comes right up to the bottom of Primes crotch where it appears that Cliffjumper comes up to the top of the blue square codpiece.
I'm getting that red bastard regardless

If the difference is really just a few millimeters, we can probably cheat Cliffjumper just a bit shorter, enough to fit in with the old Legends figures, by bending his knees slightly or finding some other "mistransformation" trick to reduce his height just enough.

The parts forming is pretty odd because its not as though the chest is accurate to have an excuse for parts forming to make things more accurate.

Well ... I already have a Cliffjumper in storage. Maybe I'll just get a figure I'm totally happy with.
Posted by Nemesis Primal on December 10th, 2019 @ 8:35pm CST
I'd also like to say that the "partsforming" on the back isn't really an issue for me, I don't really consider just one piece coming off to be partsforming. The fact that it has three posts on the back of it means it should absolutely be usable as a shield, and this probably will make it easier for them to remold that back of the car so any retools of the figure aren't limited to having the same exact alt mode. Plus I don't really see how they could have made it not come off without having to hamper the waist articulation of the figure by having it attach there via a strut of some kind, or by drastically changing how it transforms.

DeathReviews wrote:Why are they always giving the newer G1 style Cliffjumpers and Bumblebees those horrible clown feet?
I imagine it's because, being based on G1 designs, their feet are usually the front bumper of their alt-mode, so it's probably difficult to get the proportions to look good as both the front of a car and feet.

I'm surprised that so many people are disappointed; CJ is the major missing piece of my minibots collection, and this figure looks like a near-perfect fit. I'm not going to sweat a quarter of an inch.
Only things that could make it sweeter are a Hubcap repaint and a new Huffer mold.

Traditional-Deluxe-sized Warpath has existed since 2011.Slashercon wrote:pretty happy about Cliff's size. But regarding the minibots, I really feel Warpath and Huffer need appropriate updates. (In Warpath's case, i wouldn't mind a more traditional deluxe size since I always saw him as the largest of the minibots. And It's been quite a a while since Gears was released, so maybe throw him a bone too.

Traditional Robot design too:

Tank mode, not so much:

From l. to r.: G1 1985, Generations Deluxe 2010, Universe Legends (current Legion Class) 2008
Legends Class-wise, for the Mini-Bot molds we're truly missing (as in, no retools of unrelated figures):
- Huffer & Pipes
- Warpath
- Hubcap
... wow, less than I thought.

If they give us Tap-Out from this, then maybe I'll pick it up.

Genrations Deluxe Warpath is already one of the best Transformers toys of all time and fulfills any need one would have for a bigger warpath. And you can always wait for an MP warpath down the line, which would also end up scaling as a deluxe warpath for a classics scaled collection.
If we are to get another warpath in generations, I would much rather not have another placeholder and be given one that is to scale, which is what the siege line is about anyways.

Also still holding out for a flying saucer Bee and box ship Wheeljack from episode one. Not letting you off this easy, Hasbro.

For my part, I'm virtually all-in on WfC for '84-85 and Prime Wars for '86-88, with some scattered Universe and T30. It's a good time for Generations.

Oh, and I have Siege Soundwave and the tapes. Guess I should retake the photo for '84 and again later this year for '85. And use the lightbox this time, that's why I got it.

Pretty sure Warden said at NYCC that we've missed the chance for Boxjack, or at least he insinuated we have, because he didn't win the Siege poll. Someone directly asked if Wheeljack would have been the box ship from the pilot if he was made in Siege, and Warden confirmed that to be true.

If Hasbro drops the ball, I will fully expect a 3P to come to the rescue after the WFC trilogy ends.

It looks feasible to me, as it appears to only peg into the hands and slides or clips over the side panels.gothsaurus wrote:Yeah, there's a part of me still hoping you can finagle the arms out and leave the back pegged in through the transformation without partsforming.

I would love for it to be true that you can somehow leave the rear end of the vehicle attached as you convert to robot mode, but it doesn't seem possible. The hole where the back kibble plugs into the robot mode is located on the bottom of the car mode, just past half-way from the rear end to the front bumper. I suppose you could finagle the arms such that you pull one of the red tabs out of the fist, lift out the black tab to connect to the back hole, and then maneuver the other arm over to the hole and plug it in before taking the other red tab out of the other fist. That way, the pieces is always pegged into something, even if it's completely removeable from the rest of the figure. The drawback may be that, putting the back kibble in place before transforming the rest of the figure, particularly the legs and torso, might get in the way of that process. I'm going to have to watch the conversion several more times to get a good idea of what goes where when.
EDIT:
I took another look at the video, and I don't think it really works out not completely removing that back piece for transformation. The kibble would make it nearly impossible to transform the legs back and forth because of how everything folds up and flips around during the conversion.

Back to Cliffjumper, I like him but probably wouldn't pay the full $19+ for him. Discounted for sure.

It gets better! If I'm not mistaken, those are two different MP Bees. You also need this:
