I'm a little worried that the fist broke off, but are there any signs that the plastic is otherwise weaker than on the regular release? Maybe it was just a fluke.
Also, personal nitpick, these are not "repaints'. They are "redecos". The color of plastic they are molded in is not paint.

I picked these guys up earlier this month on a business trip to Canada. I've had no problems at all and they all seem just as sturdy as the originals. The colors are fantastic. The shoulder joint that moves down in jet mode on Skydive is incredibly tight on my G1 version, to the point I was afraid it would break. On the G2 version it seems more normal.

Would it be too much to ask for a picture with Trailbreaker and Smokescreen as arms, Wheeljack and Hound as the legs (as that's how I'll be displaying him), and with the swords combined?
Also, are the legs and torso as loose on yours as they were on Chefatron's?
EDIT: And he does look awesome, especially with the PE hands and feet.

A fair criticism, foul mortal
Normally I spend more time doing stuff like going over the individual transformation steps. But I deemed it unnecessary this time since there is a glut of reviews for each aerialbot figure (due to them being out and reviewed in their G1 formats quite extensively).
So I focused on what I thought were the important aspects of this set. The paint jobs, the overall appearance, the features, strengths and weaknesses of the set in general.
The G2 Aerealbot set puts reviewers in a bit of a fix. If you spend too much time going over all that stuff that has already been reviewed to death (me), then they say it was boring. If you don't, then they say the review 'wasn't about the toys'. Given the choice, I didn't want anyone to accuse Death of being boring
As to the snapped hand, I suppose the plastic for Silverbolt did have a different 'feel' to it than the normal G1 version. The plastic felt somehow 'softer', like it had been diluted, just a little. It may only have been the one that I got, but the plastic on those hands simply had a greasier feel to them than on Cyclonus or Silverbolt G1. You know that feel - the kind that you get with plastic of lesser quality. Maybe it had too much 90s paint mixed into it or something.
It is fair to warn anyone who has the G2 box set to 'test' their silver bolt figures' hands before tilting them back for the change to Superion's torso. With mine, the metal pin that forms the hinge seemed to somehow only allow rotation on one side of the plastic hand. So when I tried to swivel it, only one half would rotate, and that stressed the other side to the point where the hand broke off completely. So be careful, mortals!

How well does your Hound hold together? Apparently Swindle might have some issues, and if those problems are apparent in Hound, as well, that might be quite telling.

Well observed - the plastic itself on the figures is a different color, not just the paint. I'll remember that (foul mortal)... I take refuge in that there was, in fact, different paint on them as well, so 'repaint' is still technically correct...

While it is a cute and funny concept, the video quickly derails into comedy material with fake commercial, etc. Maybe by putting some of that material at the end or cutting it down it might flow better (?) End scene with the Loony Toons style credits was the funniest to me. Props for some grins there. I also enjoyed the vintage commercials (and had never seen the terrible G2 ones.) I'd have just appreciated those un-altered. Quite interesting.
Hearing the negative talk about the color scheme, I think the reviewer misses the point that the set is directly aimed at the niche fans who lived through the 1990s and G2... people who want to relive that day-glow magic without breaking their gold plastic Slingshot into pieces. For those fans, the wild color scheme really strikes a chord and brings back great memories... not to mention the set will display really well with G2 redux offerings from Botcon and Masterpiece (G2 Bee and Sideswipe)
Lastly, the reviewer does address articulation, paint apps, and quality control issues. Glad all that is in there. I expect that of any action figure these days. (I also like some comparisons with current line and vintage figures, though I know that's not always possible.)
Really glad Hasbro is cranking these out. They are clearly paying attention to both old G1 fans, and younger fans who got their start in the 1990s. I really appreciate that. Props to Hasbro.

PS: I wouldn't say I missed the niche that the G2 Aerialbots fall into. I thought I zinged them rather shrewdly They got 8 deaths up in the end. Besides, I'm Death - I don't 'miss'...

I told you that he had finished all of them before DR even posted his. He did his review of Silverbolt last. Seems when I notify people of something like that, I lot of times people do not notice, and it goes down the past comments drain. I do not have any malice towards anyone here, I just think it's only fair to include Bridgemagnet Toys' reviews too in the news post.

I'll be using Menasor's beat stick, the sad thing about most of the combiners and shockwave, is that the extra molding along the sides of the hand keep them from holding shockwave as a gun, or other kibble (blast-off's tailfins)

You're correct - in fact, I'll be posting my Bruticus/Combaticon reviews in a couple weeks. CW Bruticus does have the same guns as Hot Spot, but they're kind of made to plug into his back for that G1 look, so he can't 'carry' them in his hands when in gestalt mode unless you pull them out of his back. And I just couldn't live without that G1 look in the end (heh - 'live' - you see what I did there?). So Legends Shockwave wound up being the 'only' gun he could carry the way I have him configured.
My Combaticon reviews are a bit late so they likely won't be headlined. But they will have that boring stuff which some folk look for in review vids, though I can't promise there won't be any 90s rapping commercial clips.
Glad that many are amused by my reviews. I may change my signature as a result:
"I'm Death, and ironically, my reviews are the FUNNY ones!"

Yeah, my Swindle is very stable in all modes.
And Death, I wasn't even alive until about 15-20 years after the release of G1 Onslaught, so no chance of that lying around.

While I appreciate what people contribute to the site, sometimes I think the constant bickering over "news credits" is excessive. If there was money involved, I could understand. But its not like you can take those news credits to a bar and exchange them for a beer. Just my opinion.

Ok. I'll try to take a pic of that configuration later today (stored him for the night already).
One of the hip ratchets (the left) on mine is looser than the right ratchet but nothing too bad. He's not gonna do a split if you put him on the table.
His shoulders do not lock so if you want to move the arms, you have to hold the shoulder first when moving the arms to avoid it moving back. His wings do block it from behind but since they also move to facilitate transformation, they won't stop the shoulder from moving.

This is very reassuring, thank you. I found the other three about a month ago, now, and have since been searching for Swindle. I'd hate to think that my search would likely end in disappointment.

Yes, it does sound like you got swindled.
I'm sorry, I shouldn't make light of your misfortune, but it was all but killing me that no one had said it.
Crosscheck wrote:By the way, for people having issues with CW Brawl having a floppy waist or unhappy with the gap, rather than misassemble your Brawl and make him look stupid with the production stamp right on his groin, transform him as normal and flip the combiner peg down. It will keep the weaker of his connection points from disconnecting, but not obstruct his ability to turn his waist. It also helps reduce the gap in between his chest and waist. While not perfect by any means, it sure beats giving him a crotch tattoo of random numbers.
Yeah, that's been my approach - I don't trust my skills as a plastic surgeon. I ratchet his combiner peg down to about a 45 degree angle, and I plug his hand/foot in under his turret, hanging down over the back of his legs as a sort of kama. The peg keeps him from rocking forward, and the hand/foot keeps him from rocking backward (and it stores the hand/foot somewhere, which is a plus).

Yes, it does sound like you got swindled.
I'm sorry, I shouldn't make light of your misfortune, but it was all but killing me that no one had said it.
It's fine, I'm used to it, sure magnus hurt - twice, and swindle kinda made me lose hope in hasbro, but this means that if I ever do find him at retail, I can hopefully get one that doesn't make me want to kill myself
But I'm not holding my breath

Swindle is very close but something about Blastoff is just catching me
Blast off would be mine, but his canopy section just won't stay down in vehicle mode, and the thighs on vortex are messed up, they don't move very well whatsoever, so I guess the whole wave is a wash and I will be replacing all of them as soon as they show up in stores, or maybe I'll pull a magnus and forget they exist b/c with my luck it probably wouldn't matter if I replaced them
If it makes you feel better, I also have the canopy issue with Blast Off. And while I don't remember Vortex having bad thighs, he does have a problem where, since the waist is very tight, the ball joints pop out whenever I try to put him in arm mode.

Also, are the legs and torso as loose on yours as they were on Chefatron's?
EDIT: And he does look awesome, especially with the PE hands and feet.
Thanks mate!

Yeah, I had a similar problem with blades and a/b, it seems that the cup for the thigh is molded in such a way that it does not allow for simultaneous x/y/z movement, and the torso sits really low that it also interferes... glad to know we've got two more of these coming for victorion

I'm a little worried that the fist broke off, but are there any signs that the plastic is otherwise weaker than on the regular release? Maybe it was just a fluke.
Also, personal nitpick, these are not "repaints'. They are "redecos". The color of plastic they are molded in is not paint.
Well observed - the plastic itself on the figures is a different color, not just the paint. I'll remember that (foul mortal)... I take refuge in that there was, in fact, different paint on them as well, so 'repaint' is still technically correct...
Well the term "deco" encompasses both the plastic colors and the paint apps, and "redeco" similarly refers to changes to both of them. A literal repaint would be a figure molded in the exact same plastic colors as its initial release, but with altered paint apps. Again, just a pet peeve of mine.
Hellscream9999 wrote:By the way, anyone know what the slit in brawls hfg is for? Did hasbro just use part of the offroad mold for it? It doesn't fit onto offroad/ih, but first-aid can sport a nice set of cannons... medic with car cannons confirmed?
Oh, I thought that was just a goof on mine, especially since I got a First Aid WITHOUT the slit (I'm still annoyed at that, maybe I should contact Hasbro for a replacement). I didn't realize it was a more widespread problem. Anyway, I guess they probably put the wrong plate in the hand mold, resulting in Brawl's HFG having a knuckle slit.
