The Club has updated their web site design and the first announcement to appear is that the Universe Seacons are going to be available as a club exclusive!

And on a personal note, I would like to thank all the fellow fans who have wanted this set as much as I have and refused to let these great figures die. My friends in the fandom know how much I've been wanting this set since day one, and it is thanks to their collective efforts and the devoted staff of the Collector's Club and Hasbro, that the long fight for this set's release is finally over.

This is what they posted:
July 2007 - What’s coming up for 2007? We are working hard to bring you the set everyone has been asking for….THE SEACONS! More details to come
But at BotCon I asked the guy and he started laughing, we took that as a yes then...so this on their website plus that sounds pretty solid!

The club is around to actually get these things out to the collectors and people just piss and moan about it. Honestly I think its a great idea and glad to see they were able to get Hasbro to allow them to release them.

Now the fun part is actually trying to get this set! Club won't ship to me, and I can't become a member. oh, and I don't have the trillion dollars this set will no doubt cost me, if I can afford one, if I can get one shipped to me, if I can get a set before they sell out.
Yay.

PM me. If you want me to order it when it comes out I can do that. I also go to Canada enough where I can ship it locally to you.

i'm not quite sure about the TF club, don't know if it's worth it. thinkin about it for the media. all the club exclusives are repaints! oh a new head... yay? hasbro is really making a killing. as a diehard eternal fan, i want to see classic characters with NEW MOLDS!!!!! i am sick of seeing repaints.
BTW i like the new Arcee alot, definitely needs to be in TF movie #2. coolest Arcee yet.

I'm not in the US or Canada so it'll be $90 US for international membership - and that on top on the high price the Seacons will go for(and shipping) is just too much to reasonably pay, even for a desireable item like this.
So no I won't stop belly aching, you'll just have to bite me.

PrimulArchangel wrote:So in other words, what would have cost about 40$ or so at walmart for the universe line , will now wind up costing fans probably 180$ or more LOL that toy club is scam i think just a way for hasbro to charge crazy prices lol
Or the Club may just be a way of fans getting a set of figures that would have otherwise been cancelled.
I still love these figures, they were my first as a child - and I love the new paint job. It would be cool if they would change the white on Seawing and Nautilator to that greyish-blue on the other figures, they would mesh much much better.
Still, I'm not complaining. The set is gorgeous enough as-is (and I've had 3 years to warm up to those yellow hands!).

How do they suck? They found a way to bring us these figures after Walmart bailed on them as an exclusive and no other retailer wanted to sell them as an exclusive (according to Hasbro at several BotCons). So finally, we'll get these figures at last. Kudos to Hasbro for not letting these figures die.
And congrats, Skowl. I know you've been dying to get your hands on these things for a very, very long time.

*edit* NM, I didn't read down far enough to see the pics. I like 'em for the most part. This'll be my first ever Seacon set if I join the club, I've never dished out the money for the giftset & then Nautilator as well. At least we fianlly get al 6 in one set though!! I'll finally have a Piranacon!! Also, congrats to Skowl!!

Well, before I rejoin, I think I'll wait and see what the price will be for the set. If it's over $60, in addition to the membership fee, I think I'll pass.

yup way over priced repaints of the G1's lol

Considering that the original retail Giftsets were around that price in the 80s and this is a limited run exclusive I doubt it will be that cheap. However this does have the benefit of already being mostly done by Hasbro so should be cheaper to produce then Astrotrain and Airrazor were since no remolding or anything on Funpubs part. I see the set being 80-100 bucks. Leaning more towards the 100. But see if you can find yourself an original set for that cheap and then you can start bitching again. Me I'm going to grab this one when it comes out and put him up next to the G1 and BW versions of the mold.

But paying $40, plus the $80-$100 for the figures, along with shipping.
Yeah, I might as well just go buy the G1 Seacons.

This news sucks so much, what a waste. These things were crap in the 80's and still are today.

So, if this ends up being $100.00 or more, definitely not.
Even if it's around the $80.00 mark...no.
Now, I could spend $80.00 if it included the set and a membership. That I could deal with.

Different Strokes for Different Folks then, eh?
Cause, if I had that rule, I wouldn't have one of my favourite toys at all; Star Convoy.
I did however pass on the 87$ BotCon 07 Weirdwolf/Alpha Trion set because I deemed it unworthy of the price and didnt like the toys quite enough to buy it, though Alpha Trion was a DAMNED nice toy, I just didnt think the two pack warranted near on 100$ (Though I did buy the 50$ Springer/Huffer set...odd that). I also don't buy things JUST to sell on eBay, though if I go to BotCon next year I may need to, just to cover costs (University starts soon).
I have no idea how this really applies, I just felt like saying it.

However, I don't understand why not just release this as a G1 reissue in the far superior G1 color scheme. I think that would make this set a lot more desirable to most people. Wellatleast for me.
Also, I checked out the TCC and couldn't find any info there. Anyone got a link for me?

Cause it is practically done already...
I cannot believe the negativity (not Bonger, but a lot of folks). Then again it is the TF fandom so I suppose I can. We are a sour bunch, most of the time.
There is no link to it directly, they just blurted it out on the front page, in the section with news/Breakaway/etc.

I wasn't being negative exactly. It was more rhetorical questioning.
I'd love to buy the set, especially if it's at an affordable (I.E. sane) price. I'm not seeing why not wanting to pay an arm and a leg for the set on top of membership costs (possible scenario) is such a bad or negative thing.
It's akin to you buying the food, now you have to pay for the ability to eat it.

Not exactly. But I was not necessarily referring to you or anyone else specifically. We have no details on price, or availablility, nothing yet, so for people to start saying this is a bad thing, is hard to understand.
At least wait until details are there before exploding furiously, frustratedly, or whatever (again not directed at you Autobot 032).

Well, practically done doesn't matter with colors does it? Nothing against a new color scheme. I just think it would serve more collectors purposes if the colors were kept true. Who knows though, when ity goes into production they may revert to the original colors which I definately think would be a way hotter seller than this repaint.
And while we're at it, how about a Menasor Reissue,. Mine's beat to shit.
