And I would MUCH rather have an original mold Gen Wheeljack than see this retooled as Wheeljack. The "wings", for one, are all wrong.

At least its similar to the original look even if its not the same. That's all we can really ask for.GuyIncognito wrote:Meh. Those "wings" don't look like wings, and the "alternate transformation" just looks like the pelvis/legs are turned 180 degrees. It still looks like a disappointing mold to me.

As far as Hasbro using the same mold with tweaks for different characters, I'm totally for it if it gets us more of the characters we want. you have to admit, it's pretty ingenious too.
For Wheeljack, I think the mold is pretty much spot on. It might have even been designed more with him in mind, as someone else also speculated. As long as they get his head mold and paint job right, he'll be absolutely perfect. A spoiler would be nice too, but not necessary, since it looks like it'll get in the way of some of the gimmicks.

Flight mode, wheels turned down:
Size comparison:
Knees... it needs remolding on the grey painted part (Kneecap needs to take a walk) in order to bend the right way in Wheeljack mode cause no matter how you twist and turn and unscrew, those Tracks kneepads don't allow for the leg to bend the other way:
Sorry for the dark photos, it's 9pm here and I only have iPhone4 to work with

Still, I reckon there's a chance.
Here's hoping!
Thought it might look better though

When are we gonna get a new city former, we've had everything else, I want to see them attempt some big figures, a Metroplex remake would be great.

The whole figure. I'm glad that the big wigs are trying to make us G1 fans happy, but it appears that they just made a toy and named it Tracks. I wish they would have put more into him like what was done with the Classics/Henkei line. Most of those when I look them give me the feeling I got when I watched the cartoon as a kid. I'm all for updating but to me Tracks was/is a fail.

This really makes me wonder if Tracks was the original repaint / remould of Wheeljack? The fat wheeljack legs make it look a bajillion times better.
I'll be honest here, I really didn't care for Tracks up until this post...
Glad I'm getting mine in a few weeks

Thanks for the pic! I guess I was right about the wheels. As I was hoping, it is an improvement. Not much, but it looks a little less like a car with wings. You can also use your imagination and pretend their hovering thrusters.

NuclearConvoy wrote:I honestly cant accept "The whole figure" and all that as acceptable. It's really a cop out answer. WHY do you feel that this is not Tracks? What about the figure gives you the impression that they "just made a figure and named it Tracks"?
Let it go man
Some things are just too complex to explain when it comes to preference. It's the same with me and Generations Blurr; I just can't accept him as the character since it looks very similar to Drift. Granted, Blurr is growing on me bit by bit now that he stands on my shelf, but it's still not "Blurr" to me. Just take his comments as just a simple opinion and let it slide. Both you and I are liking the new Tracks figure, and that's all that matters.

Any chance the rockets can be stored inside the rear of the car and then popped out after you fold it backwards in vehicle mode?

Grapple shows that hasbro is willing to go the extra mile to make a retool different, though it did take them a long time to do it. So unless they planned it from the beginning (which I think they did) they may not change it.
As for this whole "was it meant to be Wheeljack or Tracks" argument, the truth is it's neither. If you still haven't figured it out already, the reason it looks weird is because it was meant to be both characters from conception.
Hasbro wrote:So when we have begun designing and developing these items, we are looking into the future about what other characters share the same base vehicle form.
Good or bad, I think we can expect more characters released in this way. So since Kup is apparently going to be a car, we should think of what else he could be eh?
*edit*
Trukk not kar.

Anyone who wants Wheeljack to have an original mode shouldn't complain; at least he's getting a new figure and from what these pictures show, it's going to be a very good likeness of his G1 figure. Repaints are a fact of toy collecting life. Every single character can't have their own mold, it would cost way too much for the toy companies.
I'll take a figure that looks 70-80% like the original character over no figure any day of the week.
However, as I've said before, if it's just a random figure that has no likeness whatsoever with the original and is just given a paint job and then a G1 name (Generations 'Blurr' I'm looking at you) then forget about it.
Luckily this isn't one of those, can't wait!

if i understood the question correctly, it is impossible, the only clips in that area are the ones that end up behind the robot area (grey part) and that part transforms in a way that it is not accessible in car mode

The alt mode is a acceptable for Wheeljack, but I really wish it looked more like a race car than a road car. The G1 Wheeljack alt mode is seriously hard to beat, and this faux-corvette alt mode doesn't quite cut the mustard. Oh well. We can't have everything all the time.
