There's been some strange goings-on on the site of what was my closest local TRU. I pass by it every day on my home from work. But today I'm in no rush, I'll see if I can do a little *investigating*, If you don't see any posts from me on Monday, it's likely I'm in jail.

I've yet to see Galaxy Upgrade Prime in Baltimore, MD in any Walmart (or anywhere else, to be honest).

That's very odd. I'll have to check the Wal-Mart's near me, but it seems weird to discontinue a line that they'll still be carrying for several months and getting new product for

It's not unprecedented...back when the lines were 18 months or 2 years they would clearance things out part way through to make room for newer waves. The only problem is, they would seemingly get a ton of repack waves as opposed to actual new product. Thus the change to a 12 month line, and a limitation on repack waves. Unfortunately...now we are kind of going into uncharted territory with Siege getting a 5th wave making it more of a 15 month line as opposed to a 12 month one, and pushing *Armageddon* (just calling it that for now until Hasbro makes an official announcement) off into spring of 2020, as opposed to Q1 2020.

We know this will be an exclusive of some sort, we just don't know where exactly yet. Also, since it is based on Chromia, it cannot be a combiner limb. So, what do you think? Is the Takara one (pictured below) better? Let us know!

Actually, I think Siege will still end up being a 12 month line with Armageddon hitting in early to mid Q1 2020.
Think about how the end of TR and PotP went with the final wave having only 1 new figure and lining up with Christmas. In both of those cases, there really wasn't much new product on the shelves for the largest toy sales potion of the year. Both of those were of the 1 waver per quarter general format, but the reality was waves 2-4 for the calendar year kept creeping earlier and earlier leaving a void at the end of the year, that ended up needing to be filled by the next line's first wave showing up in November.
Now with a 5th wave, they have a wave they can time for the Christmas rush and not have to move up the next line into this year. At least that is my speculation on how/why Hasbro decided on a 5th wave.
I would imagine retailers would like this too. They would not have to change things over for a new line until they are also resetting the toy aisles after the Christmas rush.
Next year will really be the year to see if that works. Some of the reason that waves 2-4 have crept forward within the year was because wave 1 was hitting in November. This 5th wave could easily be a 1 time thing just to let them reset the timing of the waves and new line.

I think my opinion will be decided on the accessories. If she has some cool ninja weapons I'm in for certain, if not I might be browsing Mandarake for an LG figure.

They need to make another female TF mould. Seriously. Or even just tweak an older one they already have more substantially as the did for the first Chromia. All the female TFs don't need to share a mould.

I know full well that Chromia is NOT the same mold as Moonracer but instead they share only the hips, thighs, wheels and basic design. That being said, I'd rather they have used the Moonracer mold again instead of Chromia. Even though they're two different molds, Chromia is held back far too much by following so closely to the Moonracer design. They didn't change enough of the design when making Chromia to make up for it not being able to combine. There's quite a bit more they could have done now that they changed the design to not combine yet not much else was changed. It's almost worse overall since there's nothing you can do with the backpack in robot mode. There's also no way to fan mode the alt mode like you can with Moonracer. Chromia looks better in alt mode and might be slightly better in robot mode but I'd rather have the options and the combining function.
I'll end up getting it even though I already have the LG version.

Lada didnt get any love during the diaclone era, it would be great if it finally gets a transformer, good memories of my families...erm..some one elses families Lada.
Nightbird should get an earth mode, ninja kawasaki bike is my choice for her despite it being a bit obvious.

Rodimus Prime wrote:I'll concede that comparing Siege Jetfire to RoTF Jetfire was a bit harsh. He's not as bad. But close. Looking at the underside, I see arms, shoulders, legs, knees.
You can see all those on the T30 figure even more prominently, plus the robot mode head and the faux-cockpit chest. I think they blend much better on the SIEGE figure and don't look any more out of place than, say, those of Classics Jetfire or the Classics Seeker mold. And at least on SIEGE Jetfire the arms and legs are actually properly integrated or at least tucked into the altmode (unlike T30 Jetfire), and the altmode cockpit is actually integrated into the robot mode. That's the sticking point for me, is your dismissing him as "A robot laying down with a plane draped over him" when he has that much integration. If you can write that off as "A robot lying down with a plane draped over him", then you're writing off every jet mold ever aside from maybe Cybertron Jetfire and ROTF Dirge.
To put it another way, I think the label of "A robot laying down with a plane draped over him" should be reserved for extreme cases, those where if you subtracted the plane bits you'd still have most of the robot.
Now that remark I take no issue with, because there really are some annoying gaps and no mistake. The altmode leg gap in particular is the absolute stupidest; they should either have had a panel that extended from the backpack, or made the inner faces of the legs more square (at least at the back). I personally don't find the side gaps as bad. I mean, it would have been nice to have them covered, but it does pose the question of where you'd put the panels and what would be sacrificed for them.Rodimus Prime wrote:Look at all those gaps. Just as bad from the side view. On an $80 Commander Class figure it is unacceptable to have these errors in engineering. There should have been panels to cover them up, or at least have the transformation fill them in.
Less gappy, certainly, but it has far more painfully visible (and unintegrated or badly-integrated robot bits) so I'd say it's a tradeoff. And he doesn't have the cartoon altmode either... Honestly, I'd say that if SIEGE Jetfire doesn't float your boat then you're better off with either the original toy or the Classics version.Rodimus Prime wrote:Because of the difference in size, the gaps are more prominent in Siege Jetfire than Generations Jetfire. That figure is by no means close to perfect, which is why I haven't bought it yet, but it looks better than this.
Honestly, I'd put that more down to his color scheme being "Overall white with minimal red, black, and blue accents" than anything else. A super-detail paintjob would probably mitigate that, but regular release mainstream TFs never have those (they'd be half again as expensive if they did, if not moreso). Maybe try panel-lining him, even if it's just with a ballpoint pen, see if that helps?Rodimus Prime wrote:I bought the Siege figure even after watching reviews, because the robot mode looked good on screen. Alright then, be disappointed. Those would be $80 too if they were to be sold today.
This is why he seems a good deal to me and I still want him, even with the stupid altmode leg gap.Wolfman Jake wrote:A lot of us, myself included, don't really pay enough attention to the "play factor" of these figures either. Jetfire has a LOT of that going on for him, with blaster/thruster/damage effect parts, the ability to fit a Titan Master into his cockpit, and hang bars to "fly" Deluxe Class figures into battle. He's even got a ton of extra armor and weapons to play "dress up" with!
Is Commander Class Jetfire worth $80? He's half the price of Omega Surpeme ($160) and just as tall and massive as a Combiner Wars combiner ($80 - $110). If the transformation were more involved, including numerous robot kibble hiding panels, we'd be talking about a Masterpiece level of engineering, and the $80 price point would blow up like no one's business (well, I guess maybe Takara's business). So, $80 seems right to me, but then again, some people would argue that $20 is too much for a Deluxe sized figure now.

Well, in Nightbird's case she was never a Transformer to begin with. Just a curvy female ninjabot. And she's technically only sharing a mold with Chromia here. Snake-Eyes disagrees. Heck, every ninja probably disagrees since they are mercenary who use whatever tools get the job done, it doesn't all have to be feudal era weaponry.

Note the hazard stripes on Impactor's chest hearkening back to his thematic origins as a fellow miner with Megatron before turning sides to the Autobot cause. Also of note is the height of this bot clocking in taller than Ironhide who himself is almost as tall as a Voyager.
But we all know it's the headsculpt on this guy that has all the fans swooning. Impactor is looking like he's fresh off of an IDW comic page with that now iconic Centurion styled helmet. Most fans are feeling this is a better representation of the character than his Autobot release which has a head much more reminiscent of his original appearance in the UK comics.
But which side do you fall on: Autobot Impactor or Decepticon?

I know in IDW he was never a Decepticon and was simply just friends with Megatron which is probably the basis for this figure, but I mean in this new version.

But it's still easy to see there's a robot body under there.ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:I'll concede that comparing Siege Jetfire to RoTF Jetfire was a bit harsh. He's not as bad. My main gap-gripe is with the side view. When he's in jet mode sitting on a shelf it's hard to see underneath, unless you look from a specific low angle, but the sides are easily viewed. And there are a lot of open spaces, especially between the shoulders and the waist. He almost looks like 1 of those cargo helicopters that has a big open space between the cockpit and the tail. Chromia shares a lot of engineering with the PotP Moonracer mold, but almost every part is new tooling.Gauntlet101010 wrote:She looks alright, but I like the Legends version I already have.
They need to make another female TF mould. Seriously. Or even just tweak an older one they already have more substantially as the did for the first Chromia. All the female TFs don't need to share a mould.
But yes, more female TF molds - including non-curvy oines - is a good thing. I wish that they had done a new one for Firestar or at least made an effort to reshell her into being a truck like she is in the cartoon. I wonder how hard that would be to kitbash...
to be honest i would rather have all the fembots with their proper altmodes than have them combine
after getting all of them im not impressed by the combiner so much
You mean the "cars" they turned into? Lancer and Greenlight have no on screen alt-modes nor any official alt-mode designs, Moonracer is only a stretched version of her design and works as a good update, so that only leaves Elita-1 and Nova(Fire)star, of which the latter just isn't a flatbed.
