BigBadToyStore.com wrote:Product Description
In the Transformers Masterpiece series, Arcee, a female-type cybertron member appearing in "Transformers: Animated Movie" and also being active in subsequent anime and movies, is finally here!
MP-51 Arcee thoroughly brings out the styling of Arcee that appeared in "Transformers: Animated Movie". In robot mode, the backpack is made as compact as possible to reproduce the attractive styling of Arcee in the animation. Arcee in vehicle mode shows off a futuristic car type vehicle with a beautiful curved line.
Please Note: Product is in an additional Hasbro-branded sleeve over the Takara packaging. Package image coming soon.

I wasn't so sure about Bumblebee 2.0 but I ended up really liking him. So I'm sure Arcee will be great.
One thing this highlights is the odd proportions of MP Hot Rod. I'm not in a rush for another one, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're planning it.

I was thinking the same thing. The chest on Hot Rod is really bad and the fact that he has the two red pieces behind his shoulders that break up the yellow spoiler is also really bad. That mold drives me crazy, and not in a good way. Arcee, while not perfect, is a step in the right direction from flat torso Hot Rod.

Yes, I'd rather have any of the other 1986 main movie cast other than another Hot Rod. They had 2 shots at him ... time for someone else!

Indeed. The only G1 Masterpiece I actually want. But realistically, Takara's bias towards Autobots pushes him down the list. As previously noted, MP-36 was the last New Decepticon in this line. 2-3 years ago and it doesn't look like HasTak are in any rush for the next one.

And most importantly, time for a DECEPTION .

Some of these pictures make her look really good. I mean it's obvious her entire alt-mode is on her back, she's gonna be a shellformer for sure. The robot mode looks fine, but the sight of her butt and thighs hanging out the rear bottom of her car mode makes me think that she transforms pretty much like Generations Arcee, except with more backpack origami. However: those additional faces almost all look the same. They couldn't include one with the red visor?

I thought the same, why do these all look identical?

It's not the best-of-all-possible worlds Arcee, but it's proportionately priced and a hell of a long way from being a crime against nature and the vehicle mode is actually better than ANY third party version. And the transformation looks (but probably isn't) elegantly simple. And kibble-free. No-one at all thinking that's a good thing?
And this will be tweaked endlessly, and sooner or later, the chest section and the face will be sorted. There will be a Paradron Medic TT Mall Exclusive repaint within six months and probably a Head or Targetmaster version within 12.
So, I say: Yay. But cautiously.

It's not just the front of her chest but the sides of her entire torso too that need to be higher.blackeyedprime wrote:Maybe an upgrade set can sort the chest out but at her price she should be perfect from the get go, maybe even a bit more complex and maybe give the option of some front headlights from rotating panels or something to make her on a similar level to sunstreaker.

I'm on the fence. I'm getting only SELECT Masterpiece figures from here on out, not allowing scope creep to take over as it did my first time out and the movie characters are definitely an easy subset of guys to collect. However, Arcee is very expensive and I would like to see another G1 Decepticon get made - Galvatron is overdue. Cyclonus and Scourge should be a lay down for these guys what with the 3P options that have nailed them in the past. Not to be bringing up 3P, but I'm just saying there's precedent for those characters Takara could certainly use in it's own R and D.
Where some attribute a conspiracy to mske only Autobots, I see a delay due to commercial pressures. Beast Wars Masterpiece figures have evidently gone over well, and so the G1 stuff is getting spread out much further.
Anyway, she'll be out closer to Christmas, so I'm going to play the wait and see game, but I actually like the figure.

I won't preorder though. I'll wait for the video reviews and in-hands impressions to make sure she's not a ticking time bomb with potential exploding parts.

In light of Blackarachnia and the "mouse pads" highlighted in another thread, that look is par for the course really. As far as modern Fembot design is concern.

Not THOSE parts! I remember coming across them in a completely unrelated article Don't see how people can complain about a harmless mlp / tf crossover when things like that exist.

Honestly, I laughed my ass off when I first saw those at first. Then I thought about how it's kinda actually cool to see a robot who want to be human so it's changing it's parts one by one with organic parts. Then the bot become a cyborg. And finally it achieve it's dream to become a 100% flesh human being who finally have mortality.
….
Did I just turn something disturbing into something wholesome?

Once you've seen it, you can't unsee it!
@Krana yes you did, though I'm suprised that no one has done that idea yet, though I can see for practicality, three figures being possible, a 100% robot, a cyborg and 100% flesh and blood. They certainly wouldn't need to go to the extreme as THOSE add on parts.
Of course, this is where you tell me Japan has something like that already and I wouldn't be surprised.

Somewhat, it's already been done in Transformers with the Pretenders in G1. Especially in Master Force. Gotta love that mass-shifting!
Make me wish for a Pretender Arcee.
While looking for a picture of humanized G1 Arcee, I found this:
I wish I hasn't because now I want it and it's impossible to get.
Posted by AllNewSuperRobot on May 17th, 2020 @ 7:55am CDT
Considering I regularly source rare and/hard to find Transformers, that is the most overpriced basic action figure I've seen to date.
Correction: 'Human' Rodimus was even more
Arcee - $180
Rodimus - $220

I often think the same, looking back to the latter days of the Beast Era. Hindsight can be cruel at times.

BUT.
The faces all look exactly the same, the backpack is an eyesore, the chest is a bit...droopy, and the price is pretty YIKESworthy. Also the transformation will probably be undiluted pain, especially with recent MP QC. If this were the only MP-scaled Arcee on the market I'd be down for it, but when MMC's Azalea exists, which has a not-completely-horrible transformation, awesome robot mode and almost no kibble with the only sacrifice being a less accurate car mode...Yeah, this is kiiiiinda hard to justify.

Black Hat wrote:I have...mixed feelings on this figure. The car mode is sublime, and parts of the robot mode look good too. The facesculpt is pretty nice, the articulation looks top shelf, and it certainly does look like Arcee.

Canadians can preorder?
Because even though I ragged on her and I bought Azalea Protoform, I have to admit that I'm interested in the official one.

Of course, regardless of the price being lower here, the question of whether or not a collector wants this Arcee remains the big one. So let us know!
