Hasbro is revealing the entire set of Amazon exclusive Wrecker sets this week and today's reveal is Springer in G1 toy deco. Many fans have been wondering why the deco choice is not cohesive across this Wrecker set and it is because Hasbro has chosen to make the lack of uniformity and different references a theme in itself, like the Legacy line. So Impactor was from the UK G1 comics, Leadfoot from G2, this Springer from the G1 toyline and Twin Twist (which will be revealed either thursday or friday) will be Diaclone inspired. So all wrecker characters with decos homaging different sections of Transformers history.
While Hasbro Pulse did have some stock of this toy, it was sold out immediately before even being available to non premium members. They only stock a small percentage of exclusives, and this premium access is a perk they use to have fans pay for a pulse subscription. Amazon will get most of the stock hence why that toy is not sold out there and can be preordered right now: https://www.amazon.com/transformers-gen ... formers-20

This whole release is odd since they are purposefully not making this theme have a cohesive look. Most of these, as they are, wouldn't be on the same shelf together.

So, my opinion on the new sub-line so far:
- Spindle: my dino nerd side is annoyed they're still using the outdated Spinosaurus anatomy instead of the more accurate recent one; my geek nerd side is just glad we're getting an entirely new Fossilizer with a new species. Kinda wish the purple parts were translucent to fit the "Energon weapon" theme of the line (that's actually been kinda inconsistent across Legacy as a whole, isn't it?).
- Impactor: I'm suddently glad I haven't been able to get the earlier molds, because a more comic-accurate one sounds much better to me.
- Leadfoot: actually a very good retool. A pity they didn't include the rotor even as a static gun for homage, but oddly enough I'm not sad to watch this gimmick go (it didn't make much sense for a racecar anyway).
- Masterdominus: finally, a Fossilizer that isn't a dinosaur! Now gimme some other Megafauna and extinct non-dino animals! Not sure I'm fond of the name, though; seems too cumbersome.
- Springer: honestly, I prefer comic or show accuracy, since it's the stories that attach me to a character rather than the toys. Still, I might go with this one, if only to complete the "hammer" set.
Apparently, the hammer is just a cardboard cutout of the Wreckers insignia, which is...kinda disappointing. I would've much preferred a build-a-figure of Emirate Xaaron, or of the Xantium.
Speaking of which, do you think it's Xaaron who's that massive statue on the back of the box art?

Yeah, I was referring to seasick springer

At least that grey comes closest to matching the grey used on the BotCon figure so there's that.
I preordered it though as I know figures regarded as "ugly" or "bad" usually go up in value. So better to get the preorder in for it now before it might sell out...who am I kidding? I don't think this one is selling out on Amazon.
It's not so much that I don't like it though. I just don't know what to make of it. There's something about those colors that is messing with my head when I look at it. At least it's not the TG21 colors...or the LG-19...or the Platinum...Springer toys get some awful colors. But actually though, this might be worse than those yet better at the same time. I'm not entirely sure. Maybe if the grey was darker like those patches of grey instead. Like swap the shades so that the darker one is the main one and the lighter one is the highlights. But then it wouldn't almost match the BotCon figure...
In any event, I still want a voyager ground mode only Springer to complete my collection of single mode Springers.

Rodimus Knight wrote:Have they shown the Hammer that you get the parts for with these sets?
No, but also keep in mind that it isn't expected to be a hammer accessory that a figure can hold, but a cardboard thing you build. They call it "iconic", but it's more symbolic than anything. There's a few members that have used hammers, but I wouldn't call any of them "iconic".

Also, fans have been asking why we are not seeing the "BAF" Hammer pieces these sets come with and that is because it is not an actual "BAF". The hammer isn't an accessory you put together for a bot to hold, it's just pieces of cardboard you put together.

Pretty sure it is judt scorponoks tail folded up weird.
Also, if the hammer is just a piece of cardboard, they just saved me a lot of money. Looks like I can cancel and hold off on some of these now.

That… makes me a lot less excited for this Twin Twist. I don’t hate the deco and I am not against diaclone characters as generic soldiers in the Autobot army, but Not having both cuts the appeal for me.
I will probably pre order though because I am a sap

2 Voyagers and then
A single deluxe....that would be very disappointing.

I've said it in the past...repaints are the wimp's way out. The problem is that Hasbro has figured out that Transfans aren't the brightest bulbs on the Christmas tree and that they will snap up just about any repaint as long as there is a good backstory or something relating directly to G1 lore (*cough* *Seekers* *cough*). Is this line worth it? It it even really a "Wreckers" team? Eye of the beholder...but until we stop simply snapping up repaints, HasTak is going to continue to be LAZY and not really give us anything new or creative.

Not really and not like it matters since live action hound is more like a live action bulkhead anyway.

Does not having bombshell and Shrapnel make it less exciting to have kickback? Does it mean they won’t make the other two? The powerdashers were spread out and were not all in one line. It took nearly a decade to get all of metroplex’s companions. It’s not the end if only twin twist is released by himself. It was a good 6+ wait to get both in titans return.

Slightly off topic, but people keep saying this and I just don't get it. The only things they really have in common are being fat and green. It's like saying DotM Sentinel is like a live action RID Optimus because they're both tall, red, and turn into fire trucks.

It’s not the only thing they have in common. They have similar personalities. The prime version. Both yes are big and green but both are head strong, fierce and jump into battle and like the action, put that with how they look and they’re very similar. Intentional or not

Interesting. I've always seen Bulkhead as more of a "gentle giant" type character, but I'm admittedly much more familiar with him from Animated than from Prime. Thanks for the insight.

Ha!, yes. I was kind of hoping for his Battle Tactics paint scheme.... silly me.
Anyway, we'll see if the Bulkhead mold gets another use for a different character later then. That Optimus Prime rumor may still hold some water.

I get that I personally prefer Animated Bulky over prime but Prime Bulkhead is a solder with a heart of hold. He cares for him team and humans but he’s also a wrecker too. That’s why he’s here and like I said there’s a lot of similarities with Bulkhead from prime and Hound in the movies. It’s mainly coincidental. The people behind the movies admitted he was pretty much just an original character creation and a G1 name slapped on like most the movie characters but with prime still at its peak when AoE was released it’s not hard to draw similarities. I would say hasbro has done that with having bulkhead sharing an alt molds similar to hound and having a Gatling gun. I think the idea that Legacy bulkhead being a planned movie hound though is rubbish. Maybe is an earthmode hound came out in the recent years ware might be some gravity to it but I don’t hasbro wants to put the name hound on a character before they do a G1 earth version first. The similarities with legacy and live action are more an homage

The leaks said “bulkhead repaint” and that’s exactly what it is. New characters like say the Fractyl figure is leaked as fractyl not “terrorsaur repaint” or leadfoot as leadfoot and not “mirage repaint” anyone who expected pyro or anything else that wasn’t a repaint of bulkhead can blame themselves for overhyping it and drawing conclusions that just weren’t there.

People werent asking for a perfect recreation of Pyro, they wanted that old hat temporary gap filler figure which is a redeco of G1 character based on a mold with a similar alt mode.
And, considering what we got here instead, it's not like that would have been a worse outcome/idea, and it would have been Wrecker related.
Anyways, out of all the exclusive Amazon lines we got so far, starting back in WFC, this is the worst, as a whole. The golden disk line was pretty fun. But I do find the fossilizers very very cool (not much else though and they are stuck in two packs).
BUT
It does make it so that no key character is an exclusive. While these toys don't interest me much, I much preffer the outcome of my buying less than me wanting these and there not being enough made (or them being restricted through exclusive status). That Earthrise Amazon exclusive line was rather egregious, with having MAIN characters not only be exclusive but also not being made in enough numbers, making us all doubt our Amazon preorders from here on out.
