Thanks to a heads up from Seibertronian xRotorstormx, we have some good news for those of you who were interested in the Generations Selects series Seacons, but didn't get a preorder in when they were up. It appears as though the first two in the set, Turtler (Snap Trap) and Gulf (Skalor), who recently began shipping via Hasbro Pulse, are now available for purchase, and are in stock at Pulse! Given that preorders were only open for a limited time, and the limited availability of the figures in general, this is something of a surprise, but a welcome one, nonetheless. Click on each figure below to be taken to Pulse, where you can place your order.

I've also included an order confirmation from yours truly verifying that these figures are indeed available.

So are you excited about this development? Have any theories as to why they're available? Are you hoping for the other Seacons to be available like this as well? Speculate below, and let us know what you think!

My own personal theory is that these are figures who were from canceled preorders. It doesn't make sense to have limited time to order them if you're just going to make them available afterwards anyway.

It is possible they saw the interest/listened to feedback and asked for a larger shipment, and that may have had a part in the delay?

That's also entirely possible. Makes more sense, actually, because they're still available and apparently have been most of the day.

I wasn't going to get this as I have the TFC version, but ... dangit, they look really nice. And the price is probably as good as it'll ever get.

But that shipping, tax, and conversion is what really gets you. Damn.

TFSource still has two of the six for preorder too, so I suppose I'll put those as a stack. That just leaves finding Seawing and Nautilator for a decent price. Later on. Or maybe not for a decent price at all if I misjudged all this...

Thanks to a notification from Takara Tomy Toys on Twitter, we have an update on the Takara Selects release of Super Megatron, which was last teased a year ago along with the initial teaser of Turtler. Takara Tomy posted on their Twitter page a shadow image of Super Megatron in both his robot mode and his jet mode, with the caption stating that a full reveal of the figure can be expected this week on April 2.

This Super Megatron appears to be an extensive retool of the Titans Return Galvatron mold, and he is based on the Super Megatron body from Battlestars, where he faced off against Star Convoy and others in more pointy G1 combat.

Check out the teaser and text below, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

As someone who never watched the Japanese Transformers, what would be a good start for me to watch so I can learn about King Poseidon and Super Megatron. I only know of Overlord because of IDW. And just reading entries on TFWiki ain't the same.

For King Posideon, you'll want to watch Super God Masterforce though it's a fair few episodes before King Posideon is introduced in full. It's also only Turtler who has any autonomy in the show (he never uses his robot mode either) all the rest of the Seacons are drones that are mass produced. None of them use robot modes either.

As for Super Megatron, there is nothing to watch as Battlestars was never animated, with its story told through text and a short Manga. So Tfwiki is your best bet

King Poseidon was in the Super-God Masterforce cartoon, but not so much as an actual character since his limb components were mass-produced mindless drones who never transformed into robot modes and his torso component, Turtler, also never transformed out of turtle mode and had very little personality of his own. Basically, King Poseidon was less of an actual character and more of a living weapon of mass destruction who would show up whenever the Decepticons of that show needed a powerful trump card against the Autobots. Though, Turtler/King Poseidon did have one personality trait: Evil jerk. He relished inflicting pain on his opponents and causing destruction in general.

Super Megatron, however, never appeared in any animated media. The series he originated from, Return of Convoy, was a print-only series whose storyline was told in magazine story pages that were very sparse on actual story content, instead mostly just summarizing specific events in a broad sense. The series did, however, get one chapter of manga, which told a more fleshed out story, but was just basically a simple tale of Super Megatron trying to steal some energy with Star Convoy and the Battlestars fighting him to stop him.

Now its just me but I think on some level we should appreciate the original Super Megatron concept art a bit more: as far as I can tell, it started the now very commonplace idea of Megatron-as-an-alien-jet/spaceship seen in Energon, Cybertron, 2007 movie, DOTM, TLK, Animated and Prime. Overall a very common choice of altmode for the 2000 to mid 2010.

Seacons on Pulse- I'm glad for those who couldn't pre-order. I paid more for mine, because Hasbro gave no indication they'd be available again. I wish they'd be more transparent with such things, but such is life.

King Poseidon! (I just feel compelled to yell it every time) ;) as a character has little depth. Like any other combiner, he is just brute force in MF, although he ends up getting beat pretty bad by Ginrai, and even Metalhawk :-? towards the end. But he does have a pretty awesome voice, and one of the best combination sequences in all of Transformers IMHO.

As for Super Megatron, I am really *hoping* the rest of Zone, Return of Convoy, and Operation Combination will be included (I assume) in the 3rd TF Manga volume Viz is releasing later this year.

Not trying to be rude, so I apologize if it comes across that way, but have Takara themselves officially confirmed that? Because I thought it was just a booth attendent that had said they didn't have much info, but that the prototype may have just been to guage interest?

I think complete lack of appearances (even Super Megatron had been hinted at in the Manga that came with Star Convoy and the Seacons.) backs up the theory that Takara had no solid plans for it. I can't see Takara officially announcing that it was to gauge interest, but certainly, evidence (or lack of) does prove it.

That's what I head, don't know the source other than it had some connection to TakaraTomy. Does explain why we haven't heard anything, or why he hasn't appeared in any media to promote him unlike Super Megatron...

Grabbing my TR Galvatron I got from my nephew for Christmas, from the looks of it he's not that extensive of a retool compared to the Seacons. If anything, he reuses everything from the waist down and the lower arms.

Care to elaborate?

Here's a more useful answer: Super Megatron is Galvatron after his frozen presumed dead (Thanks to shenanigans in The Headmasters) butt got thawed out by Dark Nova and then simultaneously reverted to Megatron while being further upgraded.

Super Megatron is the design inspiration for Animated Megatron. His robot mode is heavily based on Super Megatron, his Cybertronian altmode (in its real form from the show, not the idiotic completely-wrong toy) is essentially a somewhat-tweaked version of Super Megatron's altmode, and his Earth altmode is a helicopter reimagining of it.

Gulf is big and heavy thanks to the giant new fish face he got; and someone must've worked some magic at the factories, because the gestalts thighs are so tight, he could probably handle any pose;

Super megatron looks cool from here, that is a chonky cannon

He is bad fan fiction in the same vein as the insulting trash that was IDW's Transformers: Deviations IE A sad attempt to reset the changes made by The Movie, by some who just can't accept change. Even the televised seasons of the Takara series moved far beyond Prime and Megatron. Which should be applauded, given how things have stagnated since.

Super Megatron from TR Galvatron, huh?

A part of me really wants to be all over this, but I guess my feelings about the character have changed after there have been so many different versions of G1 Megatron out already. But it really is a great character choice. Oldschool. Kind of obscure. And it goes with Star Convoy, even if it's way too small to present a credible threat.

Give me Guiltar. Someone made a very convincing custom of him by smashing together Siege Megatron and Prime. With a few remoulds it could work even better. I'd buy that for a dollar!

You call it "a sad attempt to reset", I call it A. A followup of the plot bunny left by The Headmasters (since the idea of Galvatron actually perishing from his plunge into the Arctic sea is laughable) and B. Dark Nova wanting his servant to have a body free of Unicron's influence. It's no worse than some of the revivals from the Marvel comics (not that that's saying much).
You want a stupid reversion, I'll give you a stupid reversion: the way Classic Pretender Bumblebee was integrated into the Marvel storyline. Which is literally "Ratchet turns Goldbug back into Bumblebee in the process because he liked him better as Bumblebee".

No it shouldn't, at least not as it applies to Optimus Prime. Because the way it "moved beyond" him is almost as stupid as "Afterdeath". :-x

The movieverse was giving us that, at least before Travis Knight went ruined it. IDW was in many ways G1INO. The Unicron Trilogy was different, Animated was different, Prime was different.

And who's to say what comes after Cyberverse.
