It would be really nice if you could post that here in this thread next time so that we could all get him asap.

No problem, although Scotty P is the one who told me about this, so he gets all the thanks! If Primeultimus would have told us sooner, you could even have had him already.

Cool read....thanks for the heads up! The Motormaster chest would have been a nice change for the mold, as Nova Prime, but all it would really take is a few parts swapped and a bit of paint on the "horns" on his head and BAM. CW Nova Prime.

I know, it's like they're so on top of things. Releasing the 'autobot august' promotional details halfway through august, and then taking down they're store site (I realize hasbro does not decide what to do with hts, but it still ruins the event)

Yeah, hence why you are paying a 75$ premium on him. He's only 125$ if you have a physical japan adress you can ship him to. Its the same thing as with Defensor, only to a greater extent (I think the premium for him was only 50$)
By the way, I just calculated, any canadian interested in buying this from BBTS would end up paying 340$ total. For an overrated mold, this is a lot of money.

Look at all them G1'ers letting has/tak steal their money, if G1 weren't such a thing, I'm sure we would've gotten these years ago for the same price as Acidstorm

Which is why i haven't gotten skywarp and will not be getting this one either, because he's such a limited release which makes it impossible to get him for a normal price. $ and euro are almost the same currently. Add shipping and the customs fee, and you're upwards of 300 euro for him. Which is ridiculous, because he's not some wonky recolour. He's one of the well-known decepticons which is why i think he should get a regular release, not this limited ****.
Anyway, i'll be hounding HLJ, watching for ironhide's preorder to go up

As with Skywarp, I believe the cost (combined with lack of accessories) will be prehibitive enough that fewer will buy him than bought the original MP 11.
Also, Has/tak is not to blame for this entirely, at least not this time. Hasbro's Masterpiece Seekers are practically the same cost as their Leader figures (thanks to my rain check, they are exactly the same cost) and Takara is not making any extra money on the premium BBTS is charging. The premium goes to second or third party distributors since BBTS cannot buy this directly from Takara since Takara is only ditributing this in southeast Asia and only at one retailer in Japan. Takara is getting as much money from this 200$ Seeker as it would get if you buy it for 125$ and lived in Japan (which I am assuming to be max 60$ in both cases).

Thats almost as insane as making one of the standard Combiners exclusive, oh wait!

I admit that hasbro does not do the 'exclusive' bs like TT, but I'm sure they know what they're doing with the 'G1' fervor; though it is certainly not nearly as blatant as TT (really, all they have to do is release a better mp megatron, it's not rocket science )

It's the MP-11 mold done up as Thundercracker in a deco that's more show-accurate than any other Masterpiece Thundercracker has had.carytheone wrote:So what makes this guy unique/cool? Is it just his lovely shade of baby blue?

You may find 'G1ers' annoying, but your near-continuous stream of unprovoked and unsolicited counter-offensives is possibly even more obnoxious.
If G1 weren't a thing, we wouldn't have Transformers in their modern form, period.

You can still pick up Hasbro's MP-11 styled Thundercracker for just over half the TT version (eBay!).

Ya, I'm not interested in paying that price for this at all. Just posted it to contribute to the community. I'd rather have the Hasbro version. I like that he has a little 'tude with all his "tattoos" and such. Thanks for the tip Mega T!

Ha no prob!
I begrudge no one who would rather have the Hasbro version. I have him, and he's pretty great. Like I said, he's at about half what the TT version will put you back so if it's a matter of cost the choice is obvious.
It's hard to resist that baby blue, though...

I find many problems with this 10 ear old mold which was never meant to be a show accurate Starscream. One of the problems is that his chest looks inverted compared to the cartoon model.
Check how the nose cone in every shot of G1 shows it pointing down, making the chest a nice hint of a v shape:
The classics toy got that right:
Transformers Classics Starscream Gallery
Now look at the MP:
Transformers Masterpiece Starscream (MP-11) Gallery
The chest is inverted with the triangular curve of the cockpit going up instead of down. This totally changes the figure's appearance by reducing the effect of a stronger upper torso with a more slender waist.
Hence why I dont find this to be the ultimate version of the character and not worth the 200$ price tag MP 11 had. But 60$ is a totally fair deal for an intricate mold like this. I still think the classic seeker mold is better.

You are completely right !
Both the coronation starscream and this latest release had the same MSRP of around 14000:
MP11: http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=TOY-RBT-1950&page=top%2Fsearch%2Flist%3Fs_keywords%3Dmasterpiece+starscream%24pagemax%3D40%24getcnt%3D0%24pagecnt%3D1
MP 11T: http://takaratomymall.jp/shop/g/g4904810853336/
So yes, they are totally making an extra by not giving the extra accessories (and of course, not needing to design a new mold haha)

Yup, just 'cuz they're not inflating the price, doesn't mean they aren't making a profit off of it. Though the seekers were always fairly light for accessories, unlike the hasbro MP Soundwave (now that was a deal)

I got mine off eBay from a guy in California. The price breakdown per figure was roughly TRU retail which is where I think they were first spotted.

Target, TRU, at 8:30AM EST they're all the same to me. It does make more sense though that there was a slight mark up then. I've never known anyone on eBay to be THAT nice.

While we were eventually going to get them in North America, there was no news since...until today. The two Titan Changer figures Bumblebee and Optimus are now available at Amazon.com along with other new listings of items not found in the US before:
Titan Changers Bumblebee for 16.99$
Titan Changers Optimus for 16.99$
Robots in Disguise Legion Alpine Sideswipe as an add-on item for 5.99$
3-Step Night Ops Bumblebee for 19.99$
Combiner Wars Leader Starscream from a third party for 54.99$(basically the MSRP plus cost of Priority Mail shipping)
All of these are eligible for free shipping depending on certain conditions.
