For what it's worth somebody on Facebook did a tear down of Scorponok and apparently the internals are the same as Omega Supreme.

Afterall according to the Japanese G1 timeline, Megs and Optimus did ally together for a while (the truce broke down in the lead up to the Japanese G2 release), megs became a good guy in the IDW stories, Transformers Prime had him renouncing evil at its end. I can't remember what happened with megs in the prime wars trilogy though, other than he was snarky as hell but wasn't the bad guy. Are we about to see a twist in this tale?

It would be so weird if the mandatory Megatron of the next line was an Autobot. :HEADHURTS:

Well there's plenty speculation that the next line will have a... Different sort of Megatron, of the purple dinosaur sort.

I remember from way back when that FoC Grimlock had a prototype with Beast Megatron's head. I wouldn't mind seeing that, even if the mold is 8 years old.

Maybe he'll be a brown dinosaur instead of a purple dinosaur.

imagine if he's a badass purple feathered T-Rex

Nah, these are toys. Besides in another 30 years when scientists think they have still "more accurate" data for the appearance of Dinosaurs, people will complain then how inaccurate they appear now.

On another note. Remember way back in February when Target had a crazy BOGO free sale on mane Earthrise wave 2 and 3 voyagers and deluxe's? So where does anyone think wave 2 will appear first.

Well logically it appears they will show up in other places long before the U.S. But for U.S fans who wants to guess.... Target, Walmart, Amazon, Hasbro Pulse, or some other online retailer?

o.supreme, the only thing stopping them from sculpting feathers onto a toy is show-accuracy. That and the fact that they might want to go with Transmetal Megs. Regular Megs has been done before, even if it was a while ago, plus aside from the MP his toys don't have major breakage issues. Unlike TM Megs' infamous waist.

You know, WaywardInsecticon actually drew that.

DMSL wrote:Smokescreen looks cheap, those wheels...horrid, i think i will stick to my old CHUG Datsun brothers.
Aside from the visible snap pegs, these wheels look more like actual Datsun wheels They're not painted, but that's because other things have gobbled his paint allowance. The photos make the wheels look worse than they will in-hand, he's like 2-3 times his real size in the pics.

Consider also that ER Smokescreen will actually be properly distinct from Prowl and Bluestreak in altmode, unlike the Universe versions.

I think you and I interpret things differently, which is fine. I never stated feathers couldn't be done. I'm just stating my opinion that I don't think it's necessary.

Maybe I missed the debate but id Siege and Earthrise are attempting scale, which one is more official at this point. Side by side it’s quite dramatically different. Other than ER Screamer’s beautiful jet mode. I do feel siege is more fun....

The Siege versions of the Datsuns and the Countachs are much better than the old Classics and Universe figures imho. I don't begrudge anybody for not wanting to buy everything over again, and I'm glad everyone likes different things, but I can't imagine preferring the earlier ones. WfC is everything I ever wanted from Generations.

IMO it's a tradeoff with the Datsuns. The Universe versions have more paint, altmode weapon storage, Prowl has an actual transparent red lightbar instead of the SIEGE toy's cheater version, and all of them come with the shoulder cannons since they're integrated. But they all turn into a bland modern car mode, the only distinction with said car mode is lightbar/no lightbar, and they have Alternators-style legs instead of G1-accurate legs.

The paint deco is terrible, especially on Smokescreen, I could not care less about the lightbar, and the shoulder cannons are tiny and unlike their toy or cartoon counterparts.

I remember this was a big deal when Punch/Counterpunch came out, but I literally don't understand the appeal of weapons storage. I would much prefer weapons that can mount on the alt-mode, and I'm perfectly fine with baggies or bins to store weapons when they're not in bot mode. There's nothing wrong with people liking it, I literally can't imagine considering weapon storage as part of the overall value of a toy. I just can't understand it.

I'm G1 from youth, so obviously the toy and show accuracy is a big part of the appeal, but my favorite part of WfC, especially the '84/'85 group, if transforming. The Datsuns and Countachs have simple, intuitive, tactile, fun transformations that are head and shoulders above anything in the Classics era--except for the Seekers.

One of the reasons I'm not too upset double-dipping on Smokescreen is the engineering seems practically identical, so I know the new one will be fun. And at least with Prowl I'll be getting a new deco compared to Siege.

With Titan Fort Max, the re-use of Metroplex parts is pretty obvious. I am curious, could you detail what "internals" Scorponok shares with Omega? Is it only stuff like ratchets, springs, & screws, or is any molded plastic carried over? Just looking at photos, it is hard to tell. :???:

Oh, sorry about that. Guys on FaceBook speculated that since their sizes were similar that Scorponok would likely be a heavy re-tool of Omega Supreme, like Fort Max & Metroplex were. I passed on Fort Max, because he seemed too similar & cheated a bit much for my liking. I have a Carrobots Brave Max, complete with Master Sword & both large guns, so I am satisfied with that. I want both Omega & Scorpy, but I've been wondering about their molds, since I've read contradicting things about them.

No, I should have made my post clearer :) But, yeah I don't see how Scorp could be a remold given the extreme differences, like how Omega transforms for one thing.

It's possible he recycles some of the heavy ratchet joints from Omega, that that's what Chuckdawg meant by internals.

Speaking of heavy ratchet joints, I wonder what would be a good source for them... I have designs on kitbashing Fort Max's legs, and it's either heavy ratchets or swivels that bolt and unbolt.

So you can. Of course, Bee's appearance doesn't necessarily mean he'll look like that if/when he gets a toy. I mean, one of the coneheads on Sky Lynx's box looked like the G1 toy.

Looks like. Of course, there are some things to consider.
1. Decepticon infighting
2. It's unclear what that is blowing up by Scorponok's arm
3. Maybe he was aiming for Optimus and his aim has improved even more than as of that boulder toss.

Greetings Seibertronians! Following a recent sighting of the Wave 2 Battlemasters in Australia, there has now been a US sighting of the Target exclusive Decepticon Clones two pack.

Image

Image

The sighting was made by smf2045, over at fellow Transformers fan site, TFW2005. The clones are a repackage of the Titan's Returns molds. The last time these were issued one half of the Decepticon Clones was exclusive to the Siege on Cybertron boxset, while the other was in a two pack with one of the Autobot clones. In Japan, Takara Tomy redeco'd the clones to a more cartoon accurate color scheme and released the clones in their proper pairs. This is the first time since G1 that the Decepticon Clones have been sold in a set together.

Happy hunting everyone!

Do you plan on getting these? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

Dosen't surprise me. Megatron/Galvatron has always been at odds with Scorponok in pretty much every continuity. Any uneasy alliance usually breaks down quickly for a showdown of Leadership. Makes me hope the 3rd WFC line is more futuristic (focus on more 87'-90' Characters, as well as Victory etc...), and we can give Optimus and Megatron a well deserved rest.

Eeyup. And in fact, that was what they were doing at the end: arguing over who was in charge.

On top of that, infighting comes naturally to the Decepticons; it's kinda inherent in the "Power at any cost" ideology.

But I am amused at the possibility that Megatron was actually aiming for Optimus (who is, after all, in Scorpy's claw) and missed.

Greetings Seibertronians! Fellow Seibertron user, -WonkoTheSane-, has let us know that Takara Tomy have released new images of Earthrise Deluxe Class Arcee (with Cyberverse Deluxe Class Arcee posing as well) and Earthrise Deluxe Class Trailbreaker! These are being used to promote the toys for the Japanese releases. It should be noted that while Arcee will see a retail release in Japan, Trailbreaker is instead a Takara Tomy Mall exclusive, joining an ever growing amount of Earthrise that is exclusive.

For those in the rest of the world though, Earthrise Arcee is part of the Wave 2 Deluxes and Trailbreaker being part of a future wave.

Still happy with my 2014 Arcee; thin-feeling plastic, yes, but she comes with more gear and she doesn’t partsform. If they did another character from the new one like the Paradron Medic or something I’d be down, but otherwise pass for me.

Happy with Trailbreaker, he’s going to look good with Hoist!

ER Arcee should have died on the drawing board. That needlessly unintegrated transformation... Ugh. All you had to do was give us "T30 Arcee but with ankle tilts and 5mm hands", HasTak. That or a headmaster version... Not a foolhardy attempt at downscaling the already-questionable MP design. Whoever let this filth proceed past the sketch stage should be demoted to copyboy. It's of course too late to axe the abominable waste of plastic and molds now.. maybe at least it'll get vandalized in stores instead of bought?

Trailbreaker is good though, looking forward to him.

I know it's been mentioned already ad nauseam since ER Arcee's reveal, but G1 Arcee really is just a BAD design that shouldn't still be getting use if this is what it results in. The IDW comics did multiple G1 Arcee designs that had actual kibble integration, and some even had actual Earth modes, Hasbro should either use those or just make Prime Arcee their "Evergreen" Arcee design.

Scorponok looks great, but I don't buy/have room for Titan figures, and I prefer a comic-sized Scorpy anyway.

Still looking forwards to Airwave and Alicon though!

Yeah, and T30 Arcee's integration was also terrible. Earthrise is incrementally worse, but only just.

At the time I thought TR Arcee was an uninspired overuse of Blurr's mold, but now it's my favorite toy version of the character.

All that said, even with both T30 Arcee and TR Arcee, I'm getting ER Arcee anyway. I've been getting pretty much all of the ER releases, and I think she'll fit in well beside Siege Springer and the rest of the animated movie lineup, especially if that group gets filled out through Studio Series.

Her G1 design has been made into a decent toy before:
Image.
It is perfectly possible. All they had to do was use the same integration tricks the version they already made used. That was all they needed to do. They've done it before.

But no. No, instead what they tried to do was downscale the MP design (which was already iffy) into a Deluxe. And predictably, it resulted in a trainwreck. Just like the THREE DIFFERENT TIMES they tried downscaling MP-01. You'd think they'd have learned, but apparently not.

And this doesn't even do anything useful (like, say, have a Titan Master head and seat) to make up for the clunk.

They should have known better. They should have done better. They could have done better. They knew how to do better.
And yet, we got this trash.

So AFAIC, ER Arcee's value is equivalent to that of an Armada Side Swipe that's been run over by a truck.

AcademyofDrX wrote:Yeah, and T30 Arcee's integration was also terrible. Earthrise is incrementally worse, but only just.
 Oh, get real. "Actually integrates the chest and legs into the car" is leagues ahead of "Wears the entire car mode on the back". And T30 Arcee manages to put the unintegrated parts on the back far more compactly.

I'm disappointed that both Arcees have their head in one solid color. ER should have at least a pink face while CV should have a white face or a very pale pink.

I can predict that Deluxe Cyberverse Arcee will be the superior toy compared to the Earthrise.

The only parts of her robot mode that are visible in car mode are the chest and the sides of her thighs, and I agree that's better than the ER one, and that the backpack is smaller. But in both T30 and ER, most of the car is stored on the back, I don't know why that provoked eye-rolling, but whatever, different people like different things.

Eh the T30 mold is also a terrible transformer, it's literally just "humanoid female with backpack" and it just really screams that uncomfortable "Japan design" vibe that shouldn't be in a kid's franchise.

It's a fine figure sure and probably the best G1 Arcee figure but it still suffers from the problems that are inherent to that design.

I just can't get over how much I hate that design and how lazy it is, I think it's so bad that the ROTF "mermaid" bike designs are better then the G1 design in every aspect.

Not to throw this off the rails or anything, but all this talk of Arcee's and I still find the most fun Arcee figure to transform into a car is the Animated version. Cool swords, nice articulation, cartoon accurate mostly, and the integration of her kibble is done reasonably well. Would love if we got more Arcees like her (the Cyberverse takes some cues in design, which I find somewhat flattering.) The earthrise figure, if and when I get her sadly will need some touch-ups on her. I definitely wish the vehicle mode could have been integrated better.
(if I had my way, instead of a "hover-board" the detachable bits would break apart into little arm and leg guard to attach to her, almost like a mini weaponizer already included with her. Would free up the backpack abit, and give her an alternate bulky look.)

I do agree that the TFA Arcee is the best of the Arcees so far, with TFP a close 2nd. But the best use of that mold is the Botcon 2011 Drag Strip.

As for Earthrise, I finally found the Seeker 2-pack at my Target, it was the only one they had.

Hot. Damn.

That Scorponok looks fantastic! When he's in stock and ready to go for his wide release, I'll need to find him and Sky Lynx. Those are a pair of great looking figures.

also, I love that Scorponok head! That is the best looking Titan head we have gotten, easy.

While I do prefer the comic Scorponok that is a large Cybertron and not a city, I still think this is a great size and I will love him on the shelf. the titans will finally be complete, and i think Scorponok will be displayed with some bots in claws. As to which ones, we will need to see..

Earthrise Arcee looks like she'll be good... in car mode. The robot mode looks ok without the "hoverboard" attached to her back, but honestly I wouldn't have minded some kibble on the legs. Personally, the feet are my biggest problem with the figure. Those 5mm port heels are really weird looking. I'll probably still buy her though, damn my impulse buying habits :BANG_HEAD:

Maybe it's just me, but does it seem like Earthrise distribution is whacked? I know the pandemic has to have had some effect on it, though I remember Hasbro assuring people that there would only be minimal delays. But the year is more than half over, and we haven't even seen Wave 2 ANYWHERE yet. At this rate, Wave 4 will appear at this time next year.

The more I see of ER Arcee, the flimsier and more shell-ish it appears. People who have the Thrilling 30s version may not need this one....
