And while there is no word on the future of Jallguar, Liokaiser can be seen wielding an Arms Micron, along with four copies of Air Raid's gun. The image has been mirrored for your viewing pleasure. So what do you make of this latest box set, are you excited? Let us know in the comments below.

Looks like it. So I'm betting that's either their 6th member or that each of them are coming with an AM as their breastforce partner.
I don't think he's supposed to be a 6th member, rather Liokaiser is supposed to come with new accessories instead. That Gul redeco seems to be one of them, and is possibly linked to the rumored Deathsaurus torso, who had a Tiger and Eagle back in G1. I don't see them getting a partner each, have you seen the size of the bat Hades?!
And as a reminder, it's quite possible that with Combiner Wars over, Liokaiser is a Platinum Edition instead.

Our first glimpse of this guy was on CW Computron's box, so I'm pretty sure he was at least intended to carry the CW label, even if that winds up not being the case in the end.

He was also shown on some recent Platinum Edition boxes, like the Autobot Heroes one. I guess Hasbro no longer cares, as Combiner Wars and Platinum Edition are both under the Generations label.

Was it? We'd first seen standalone artwork of the figure before any toy photos, and then the toy photo we saw at BotCon this year was from the Platinum Edition Autobot Heroes set. Computron's box wasn't at BotCon, so was there a pic of the box that showed Liokaiser on it?Zeedust wrote:Pretty...JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:And as a reminder, it's quite possible that with Combiner Wars over, Liokaiser is a Platinum Edition instead.

That would have been cool;

I would love to know how Hasbro came to the decisions they made when designing this "Liokaiser" set. They could have dropped either Drillhorn or Killbison to include Jallguar instead, giving the team a lot more mold diversity. I know that Jallguar is supposed to be a racing buggy, but I think a black repaint/retool of CW Dragstrip would have suited his original silhouette rather well. For that matter, they could have left out one of the planes too (either Guyhawk or Hellbat) to Jallguar, though at least the plane molds used are technically more different than the two versions of the tank mold are. At the end of the day, I know that Jallguar is the odd man out, not being one of the arms or legs of the gestalt form, but Hasbro has made bigger changes and concessions to established G1 characters before in the name of making a "good/cool/modern" product.
Also, are we 100% sure that the torso will be Deathsaurus? That teal screams Leozack to me, and what would Liokaiser be without the LEO part? Yes, the black and red detailing can also point to Deathsaurus, and the teal could be a nod to his more traditional blue coloring. Maybe it's some weird amalgamation of the two (thought that kind of weird fictional shoe-horning seems to be more Takara Tomy's MO).
Given the extensive retooling Takara Tomy was willing to do to give us the spectacular Unite Warriors Computron, I hope that, if they choose to tackle Liokaiser, they ditch the Sky Lynx torso, retool Silverbolt (yet again), and come up with a way to attach a "Legends" scale version of Jallguar to the torso.

Well since the head looks feline, my best guess is that the black parts on the torso are Jallugar.. Personally, I wish that they would use the Takara Nosecone mold for Drillhorn but this being Hasbro the chances of that are very slim. (But if Takara does its own version, I'm sure they'll use that mold)
As for Deathsaurus, I don't think they'll use him. He would make a good Titans Return figure though..
However my stance still remains: I want it!

Yup, not really much getting by that, so I'm guessing that they'll go the fan-wank route a'la galvatronus, and justify it via the pack-in comic, in that regard, hasbro's may end up looking more like liokaiser than TT's

Oh, and the coloring of Liokaiser's head is wrong... Apperently they based it off of an animation error.

That Brawl transformation was designed by Takara and their UW Brawl transforms the exact same way. Thats just the way the toy was meant to be. We dont have to like it, but it means its not an error that either Hasbro or Takara believe needs to be fixed.

Clearly, they were seeking to mimic the original Liokaiser's component placements (jets for arms, tanks for legs). I actually think it's a decent homage.

steals_your_goats wrote:I think this guy looks cool, but it doesn't scream Liokaiser to me. I'll probably end up renaming him and his components and just hope that Takara is working on a proper Liokaiser with all 6 members.
I have been proven wrong before (very recetly too) but I still preffer being a realist and not holding hope for Takara to completely create a new combiner system to have two deluxes combine into a torso that can still plug with the pre-established CW port system for the arms and legs.
What I think will happen is this will be released as a platinum set and if Takara releases it, it will be released as a USA edition just like they did for the other platinum set they wanted to distribute in Japan, Trypticon.
In any case, no matter what Takara does with a Unite Warriors Liokaiser (IF they do), it will never be a decent update to the original. The whole point of Liokaiser is he has integrated hands and feet. To be a real update, Takara would have to redo this whole guy from scratch.
Posted by Seibertron on July 7th, 2016 @ 11:24am CDT
I really wish they had figured out a way to swap out the Voyager body with two deluxes so that the 6 member Combiner teams could be properly done. I'd also love to see Devastator done in this scale so that he's not the odd man out as a "Titans Class" sized figure.

Preaching to the choir my friend

I think some of my problems stem from the lack of key characters, the use of the skylynx mold (lack of bot mode is a turn off no matter if it's deathsarus or leozack).
As for devy being titan class, at least his rival will be in the same class size and who knows what could happen in a few years. We could end up with deluxe scale constructicons and an omega supreme (leader sized? That's roughly the size of the combiners isn't it?)
Thinking about it, Omega Supreme would of been a great leader class candidate for Titan Returns (wouldn't be the first time he's been a headmaster either )

I dobelieve that part of the reason why hasbro settled on Devastator as a titan class would be that he could scale with his rival when the time comes to release him.

Be interesting to see what is intended with the torso, which doesn't look a bit like Deathsaurus at hai point.
A third party group willl almost no doubt create a two deluxe chest and abdomen set for Liozack and Jagg. Maybe.

So when do we think we'll get official pictures then? Though if it does turn out to be a platinum, then we have some chance of it turning up in the UK

I just picked up a CW Onslaught today (my second copy) and his stance has been widened a bit. I think this happened with the Motormaster/Optimus mold, basically instead of the legs rubbing against each other, they made it so that the slight slant on his feet stands flat on surfaces. His head also seems to be straightened out a bit (my first one had “always looking down” syndrome, my second one seems to look a bit straighter forward). The Onslaught on the left is the one I got from BBTS in December and the one on the right is one I found at Fred Meyer, which may have been there for a while - I’ve seen Onslaughts there for a few months now, so I’m not sure when these changes were put into effect. The box code for the newer one is 52931 in case it’s too hard to read the picture. I hope this is helpful, it’s only a slight difference but it makes the figure look WAY better in my opinion.

From the official pictures, it looks like UW Onslaught has the fix. I can't tell as far as G2 Onslaught because the pictures don't show him in a static pose, and they could have with Hot Spot but I have no clue, I only ever bought one Hasbro version and he didn't have a fix. Based on a couple pictures I found, the UW version doesn't have it, and they stopped making Hot Spot a while before Onslaught came out.
