Wal-Mart.ca wrote:In the Combiner Wars, teams of Autobots and Decepticons combine to form giant super robots and battle with the fate of worlds in the balance. Computron is never wrong. Of all the Combiner robots, he is the most successful at merging the different personalities of his component bots. The Autobot processes input from each of Technobots and evaluates all possible outcomes to identify the perfect plan of attack.
Join the battle and build a Combiner super robot with this 7-in-1 Combiner Wars Computron Collection Pack. Get 6 Technobots figures that combine to form a Computron Combiner figure in this 1 set. The Voyager Class Scattershot figure forms the torso of the Computron Combiner figure; the Deluxe Class Afterbreaker, Strafe, Lightsteed, and Nosecone figures form the arms and legs; and the Legends Class Scrounge figure becomes a Combiner weapon.
The Combiner Wars universal connection system means these figures work with other Combiner Wars figures. Combine the Scattershot figure with other Deluxe Class Combiner Wars figures or combine Afterbreaker, Strafe, Lightsteed, and Nosecone figures with other Combiner Wars Voyager Class figures to build more Combiner super robot figures. (Additional figures are each sold separately.) The pack also includes 12 accessories, a Cybaxx mini-UFO figure, a Combiner Wars poster, and a collectible Computron character card.
Transformers and all related characters are trademarks of Hasbro.
• Combiner Wars Computron Pack includes 6 Technobots figures
• Figures combine to build a Computron figure
• Each figure converts from robot mode to vehicle mode and back
• Figures work with other Combiner Wars figures (each sold separately)
• Comes with a poster and collector card

I grabbed a Unite Warriors Prowl because Prowl. And of certain characters and molds, I don't mind getting another to see differences, hoping for significant differences, but not always getting them. This mold is awesome and fun, and this character is one of my favs.
Anyway, this Prowl is somewhat funny. Different enough. Interesting swaps of black and white plastics in the arms and in the neck and connectors of the car front. A few extra paint apps on UW. But UW does feel a bit too white/single colored. The waist is painted a bit better on UW, but in my opinion Hasbro's wins the overall best look. The painted rims on UW is also hard to overlook, but overall doesn't change my last opinion. Hasbro's is nicely broken up and yet cohesive color app wise. Both have the oddly colored piece of forearm plastic that sticks out I car mode making the side panel and door looks funny. Funny enough, it is the opposite colored plastic on each and neither color looks good.
So, suck it TT lovers! I'm kidding, I love TT as much as Hasbro...
And I do love that mold. Fun transformation, and the gimmick, well, if you want combiners you got it! I'll keep 'em both because 'keep calm and let Prowl handle it'....

Victorion was created in a series of polls in which the fans got to choose the faction, torso & weapon molds, limb molds, origin, color scheme, power, gender, name, personality type, and archenemy of an all new fan-built combiner.Sjeng wrote:Hot Spot and Onslaught look sufficiently different to me to forgive the reuse of molds, but Victorion for me is entirely redundant. He's a 95% repaint of existing molds, with a few little things added. He even has TWO similar helicopters. He simply doesn't do it for me.
At the time, there were only three kinds of molds for fans to choose from: Aerialbot molds, Stunticon molds, and Protectobot molds. There was no way Hasbro was going to make completely brand new molds for something so unpredictable as to be decided upon by the fans, so they instead gave fans the choice to pick which preexisting molds from the time would be used to create this new combiner. Yet, at the very least, Hasbro was willing to take whichever molds won and give them extensively retooled parts such as new headsculpts, new torsos, new forearms, new weapons, and even exclusive new combiner hands and feet.
The end result was a combiner with Protectobot torso & weapon molds, two Stunticon limb molds, and two of the same Aerialbot helicopter mold (the voting between the two jet molds and the helicopter mold skewed in favor of the helicopter twofold over the two jet molds). Because the helicopter mold won enough to garner two of itself, the two helicopter characters of the combiner were made into being twin sisters with opposite-mirrored color schemes and molding.

Again, I know our memories seem to be flawed over the years, but growing up in the 80's there was only one Toys R Us, one Kay Bee, and a couple of other stores (Montgomery Wards, BEST etc...) near my home that had toys, but I never seem to remember having trouble finding, or having to go all over to hunt for a particular transformer I wanted, they always seemed to just be there. I know because of the prevalence of online shopping Times have changed...I just miss the old ways sometimes.

You're not alone in that sentiment. Sadly I don't know what it is, but even here these stores are poorly supplied when it comes to toys.

So, basically, the Red Hasbro CW O/P always has bad hips? I just read this topic, and I understand that basically, the ratchets are off by half a tooth, thus not allowing the Combiner to stand straight, right? That's pretty bad. Definitely looking to find a Takara Grand Prime then instead of a Hasbro one.

Correct, it was the limited first run of the Hasbro Groove on the CW Defensor. CW Groove will be getting a much wider release in October, so you may be able to get one with more ease later this year.

Or you could get the CW Battle Core O/P that has an (as of yet) exclusive head mold, and a cooler deco - this also happens to relieve your collection of the monotony of another Prime with a red paint scheme. But if you really want a red Prime, then, yes, the UW Grand Convoy is your best way to go.

Well, since anything CW is very hard to find here in the NL and Belgium, it's gonna be hard to try and complete this guy anyway, red OR white. All I can find here is HotSpot and Cyclonus voyagers, and Dragstrip, Skydive and Firefly, and some RiD O/P's, and a few Optimus Maximus bases (discounted for €25,- but it looked horrible). And some random Legend class models. *sigh*

Something I've been telling myself every day for the last month...If only I could go back in time to tell myself to start collecting CW from day one. Of course if I could go back in time, I'd probably just purchase all Original Transformers toys...well honestly...if I could go back in time, I'd probably move on to bigger things than toys that would eventually lead to the destruction of time as we know it. So...we'll just stick with me lamenting my indecisiveness from a year ago

Preordered him from BBTS a couple months back. Funny story: Shortly after placing that order, I found a site that had him listed for cheaper than BBTS, and ordered one from there. When I was about to cancel my BBTS order, it had already started processing. So I've got another Groove on my way eventually that I've agreed to sell to a friend at cost. Also, good news, Hasbro Deluxe Groove is almost identical to Takara Deluxe Groove, except that the former uses black screws instead of the latter's silver. That's literally the only difference.

Other than that I love the individual bot modes. Lightspeed is meh, but he does have a nice candy red color. The green windshield on Afterbreaker(burner) and lightpiping is awesome even if it's not entirely fiction accurate. I'm quite fond of Cheesehead's(Nosecone) colorscheme as well. Strafe might be my favorite of the bunch even though his guns don't detach. I just peg one of Afterburner's to his arm so he's not unarmed. Scattershot looks great in vehicle mode and pretty good in bot mode. And of course there's Scrounge, who seems a bit softer than Cosmos but he and Cybax are still fun little dudes.
I do think I'm going to double up and get the Takara Comp as well. There's so much I like about that version I doubt I can help myself. I'll piece together the best possible Computron and use the rest as generics or customs. Already have ideas for Hasbro Nosecone. If I can find a tank barrel for him rather than the drill I think he'd make a great Guzzle(LSotW era, not hulkmode SotW era haha) by leaving his legs stumpy and painting his head.

Sorry about that...i misspoke. I didn't mean the cartoon, i meant comic. Accidents happen i guess but i do apologize for the confusion.
As for the elbows....the articulation is still there, just not doubled up. Rotating the arms in Computron mode to have the double elbow sort of thing, makes Strafe have his wings facing forward, i prefer to keep them on the back. Because of that, i rotated the legs around on Afterburner to have it be symmetrical. As for the legs, i didn't slip them around on Computron on the G1 toy either. It's just a personal aesthetic look that i like. You can obviously display your figure how you wish.

I appreciate the suggestion, but $35 plus shipping is more than I care to pay for a head for a figure, which is what I'd be paying for since I don't care about the breastplate or gun. (It's not G1 accuracy that bothers me; it's just having two combiners with the same head.)

With Nosecone in his usual position as Computron's leg, the rotating pieces of the CW tank mold, and the fact that it's legs don't peg together worth a damn, make it completely impossible to use the ankle tilts in the new feet without the entire lower leg/feet coming apart. They are TIGHT ankle/feet tilts. Same with Lightspeed. Prowl is the only use of that mold that pegs together and stays together really well as either an arm or a leg. Plus, though it's not a huge concern, Scattershot's torso mode is a little wiggly and not as tight as Superion's, which makes posing him a really iffy thing if it's not thought out before hand, and the feet aren't posed before inserting them into the leg bots. It just doesn't seem as sturdy as previous uses of that torso and limbs. Random last though, though I'm appreciating Hasbro Nosecone more and more (he does look fairly G1 toy accurate, save the maroon bits and brown chest), he's crap as a limb, as the Brawl/tank mold is absolutely the weakest of the entire line.
So, though Computron was my favorite G1 combiner, the CW version of him will not be posed or played with much. Too bad. I hope the Takara version (yes, I'm double dipping) will hold up better.
Posted by Sjeng on August 13th, 2016 @ 3:22am CDT
Takara's version has that covered a lot better. A shame Takara doesn't have the feet/hands.
I'm wondering though, now that Hasbro has feet and hand molds, why won't they make feet/hand packs in different colours for all the other Combiners? No more expensive 3rd party "perfect effect" packs nessesary. (€40,- for a few plastic fists and feet? wow, no way)
Posted by Kurona on August 13th, 2016 @ 7:11am CDT
He's the Brawl mold for starters, which is obviously the worst mold; so it's between him, Brawl, Botcon Ramhorn and Liokaiser Drillhorn and "Ironbison". However, all of those have headsculpts that fit the characters wonderfully, the Liokaiser and Botcon ones have beautiful paint jobs, and the use of the mold as a tank is faaaaaar more convincing and effective than using it as a drill... thing. So nosecone ends up with the worst mold in the line, the worst alt mode use of the mold, a recoloured head which doesn't even begin to fit him, looks like a block of cheese, and apparently has some QC issues. Poor guy.

The big question is how soon is "soon"??!?
Being that I've been borderline yawning with TR, this is really exciting news!
Watched that Comp review. The combined figure doesn't look awful, still don't like the individual bot modes. That brighter, kinda regular red looks so bizarre on Scattershot... Especially in spaceship mode. Afterburner/breaker looks best imo, but that's not saying much.
"Lightsteed"?? Should've just named him LightWise.
Don't really see how you'd take this set and the UW one and mish-mash them together...
UW is hands-down the better-looking set all the way around.
Not tempted at all to get this Hasbro release.
I'll be saving up some $$$ for these new beast combiners!!

WJ88 knows more about why it's possible than me, but it seems there's no reason why Generations, -insert cartoon toyline- and -insert movie toyline- could not exist at the same time.

The might dial back a little on Rescue bots too if Last Knight has it's own little-kid sub brands if it doesn't then that will probably carry on in the same erratic manner too.
I just hope they don't make the HUGE ERROR of dumping all the Generations style Movie toys on TRU and then only distributing terrible toys to other retailers.
But character wise the only thing that looks promising so far would be some car alt modes and the new Bulk-hound vehicle mode. Unless Optimus gets another new body at the end of the Movie that they are keeping quiet about.
Megatron i'll judge depending on what he turns into. Barricade has some toy potential especially if they can make something less finicky than the DOTM mould.
But anyway here isn't the proper place to talk about this so I'll shut up now.

But Rescue Bots is handled by Playskool, a different branch of the Hasbro company from the main Hasbro Transformers branch. The Last Knight or any main line shouldn't interfere Rescue Bots (which is even sold in a completely separate aisle in the stores from the main TF lines... unless any stores have merged the Playskool aisle with the big kid aisle, but that shouldn't be too common).RAR wrote:The might dial back a little on Rescue bots too if Last Knight has it's own little-kid sub brands if it doesn't then that will probably carry on in the same erratic manner too.
