Seibertronians, after revealing one for Hot Rod, then another for Drift, the Transformers: The Last Knight official Instagram has shared another Digital Character Reveal, this time of the new mini-bot, and apparent friend to all humans, Sqweeks!
Squeeks is a whole new character whom we've heard has been around the set recently. The little dude turns into a cute little Vespa scooter, and that is very apparent as his robot mode consists of the front wheel as his right leg and the kickstand as his left, the headlights as eyes, the handlebars as hands, and the body forming a little dome over his little Wall-E styled face.
Check it out below, and then find some more Transformers: The Last Knight news here, in the Seibertron.com Movie news section!

I mean, Drift's design always looked like it couldn't possibly transform anyways, but this is just ridiculous.

The car kibble gets flipped inside out. The last toy did it with the shoulder pads by folding the sides to reveal the inside.

Hips aside, the Deluxe AoE toy was pretty fantastic, and it was both faithful to the alt-mode and the animation model. Lots of armor in bot mode, and a great looking car.

yeah and plus they were able to keep his bugatti symbol on his robot mode chest from his alt mode while still giving him totally new robot detail for his chest. That was some slick engineering there which was not found on lockdown (who end up with a fake chest).

Eh, that's too big of a cheat for my tastes.

Its very efficient though, and minimises kibble in either mode while providing different detail for either mode. I think its pretty cool, like how they did it with AOE Voyager Hound. Takara was super proud of that new design technique.

That is the single most asinine comment in this entire thread. And that's hard to do, considering some of the arguments that go on in here. But thank you for reminding me where your head actually is when it comes to Bayverse. I started to think you may be able to have a reasonable conversation with other people. My bad.

Did I miss something, I dont see what doesnt make sense about that comment. The 80s TF movie was super popular amongst kids (its the reason many of us are here on the boards, I am sure) while the Marvel TF comics were not read as much. They were also primarily in the UK right? And the series proved unpopular by the end that the runs were very limited to the point where the most expensive Marvel TF issues are the last ones and not he earliest ones.

So yeah, I am pretty sure that many hot rod fans out there who were hoping to see him in the movies had not read the Marvel UK comics.

That is both something hard to do and is up to personal opinion on what Adorable is to them.

But the movies have always had great voices (I say bull to whoever said Crosshair's voice acting was crap a few pages ago) so I have faith they will do well.

That's a very hard balance. In any case I assumed they were gonna go all Bumblebee on him and not give him an actual voice; having a similar relationship with the kid as TFP Bee and Raf.

If they do that they better give Bee his voice back or make him use the radio a whole lot more like in AOE because we don't need two quiet Transformers especially if the Dinobots return with no voices.

Sure but they still talk and without doubt Bumblebee and Squeeks are going to be on screen alot especially with Squeeks being not just a CGI transformer but a physical prop too.

It would seem to me since Cybertronians have a techno-scanning ability which allows them to change their alt form, while getting healed of all damage, that more of them would take advantage of it. For example, in RotF, Skids and Mudflap used it to change from a combining ice cream truck into separate vehicles w/ newer bodies. And in AoE, Optimus Prime used it to shed the beat down box semi-cab form and removing all the damage while acquiring a newer form of semi. I don't see why other Cybertronians like Jetfire and Sqweeks wouldn't take advantage of it.

What kinda of stupid statement is that?

Most of the designs revealed thus far have vehicle kibble and AOE Transformers did have kibble as well but it was more hidden for example Optimus has visable door handles on his chest.

It was a joke considering every alt mode part is visible instead of some hidden or hard to see

I thought the look of Optimus at the begining of AOE was superficial. Afterall, it was called Evasion Mode in the merchandise, hinting that it was aesthetics. Sure, he was wounded as well, but its not entirely related since he healed himself with the help of Cade for a while and was back to full form (fighting Lockdown and Cemetery Wind) while his look didnt change.

So I think the scanning is just for a different aesthetically looking body but not indicative of the state of a robot's health and it wouldnt heal them either. The best example is Bumblebee in the first movie. he was in hiding so he looked like crap. And when he was no longer in hiding, he took on a nicer look. But the robot was always in as good a shape.

And Jetfire looked in much better shape in jet mode considering he was old and in stasis lock/sleeping being on Earth without energon for a long times (I don't mean like 10 years or whatever I mean a long long time) seems to be very bad for example parts were falling off of Jetfire after he was brought back from sleep.

I only enjoy the comedy in Rooster Teeth these days (if you don't know who they are their pretty awesome if you can stand swear words and the occasional inappropriate joke they have a lot of different shows and game channels and their own website they existed before Youtube was a thing)

With Shockwave, Ratchet and Arcee being close but not close enough to that position and I remember when Jetfire used to be pretty big as well during Armada/Energon/Cybertron until ROTF/Animated/WFC and then he kinda just fell out recently.

The big green guy archetype is getting popular as well with Bulkhead,Hound and most recently Grimlock as well as Fixt/Squeek minicon type characters and Sideswipe/Smokescreen young rebellious sport car type characters that are't Bumblebee and I think Jazz is starting to become more popular again.

Ironhide is still stuck in a weird position as he keeps rising up in popularity and then dropping down again and a big part of that problem is with the Big Green Guy characters taking Ironhide's place as the tough guy and Ratchet becoming the close friend of Optimus Prime's

I hope Prowl and Cliffjumper start becoming big again is there anyone else you think is getting pretty big as a name or character archetype Seibertron?

And once again, you're talking out of your ass. Any fan old enough to have seen the movie to care about Hot Rod would have at least heard of the comics, if not read them firsthand. And the ignorance of a minority does not negate the Marvel comics' impact on the franchise, like the fact that the Marvel comics created the franchise as we know it.

So yeah, I am pretty sure that many hot rod fans out there who were hoping to see him in the movies had not read the Marvel UK comics.

The Marvel comics were not primarily UK-based; Marvel UK just put out comics of their own in between the US issues, creating a much more fleshed-out (and sometimes more convoluted) continuity than the US issues alone. But they were popular enough that Simon Furman was brought over from the UK to take over the US comics when Budiansky stepped down.

As for their popularity, the Transformers comics were originally planned to be just a 4-part miniseries, but the larger-than-expected sales turned it into an ongoing comic that lasted eighty issues, as in seven years. It outlived the cartoon by four years.

Hold on....wasn't Megatron and Starscream killed off in one of the previous films?(ok...ok! i know they retrieved Megs head & hooked it up to Galvy so he would eventually become sentient).

Also

Do you think we'll see Hot Rod becoming Rodimus Prime in this movie?(& before anyone says something along the lines of "wouldn't we have seen pics of a weird looking winnebago by now? If that were gonna happen!" although knowing Bay...i doubt Rodimus alt mode would look exactly like his G1, it would prob be a truck of some sorts, although i'd prefer it to be a bus...maybe a tourbus with some weird design to it, but i highly doubt that it'll ever happen anyways) ermmm....maybe? maybe not? coz we never saw advanced pics of the battered old G1 truck that Optimus assumed, before the release of the film.

As you pointed out, Hot Rod was in the '86 movie, which was very popular with those who were kids at the time. He's a G1 character, even more so than most of the others, as after G1 the name "Hot Rod" was seldom if ever used. Hasbro preferred "Rodimus." In every continuity since, he was "Rodimus." So if a fan wants "Hot Rod" in Bayverse, then they must at least have average knowledge of G1, which means they must know about the comics as well as the cartoon. If a certain fan is someone who was around then, like some of us geezers on these boards, then that fan definitely knows of the comics. So for Sly to say that those who ask for Hot Rod don't even know the comics exist is just ignorant.

Saying people dont know about the comics was definitely a bit much, using hyperbole makes it hard to be taken seriously so I can get your reaction.

I can only speak for myself when I say that I knew about the movie, and thus about Hot Rod and how he replaced Optimus, but I didnt know about the comics storylines and that Grimlock became leader of the Autobots. I only knew of that when I researched why the MP came with a crown. I did know that the comics existed though. But oddly enough, I knew of the comics because the the cover artist for issue one is one of my favourite artists, Bill Seinkewizc (and because the final issues are quite expensive). I am from the beast wars generation though so that my facotr into my lack of knowledge or awareness in certain things.

This is the same for me, it was only getting the ultimate guide by Simon Furman for Xmas back in 07-08 that I learned about Grimlock becoming a leader.

If I remember correctly, the reason Optimus was made blue, was because they said that red didnt "film well", or didnt look right on a big screen or some lame excuse. But it seems red works fine for any other bot they decide should be red; new Drift, Dino and Hot Rod to name a few.

They said that back in 2007 when cameras were less advanced this problem has been fixed for Dotm and has not been an issue since.

It's no longer a problem the first actual red transformers we got in these movies were Sentinel and Dino there was rampage in rotf but most of his screen time was in robot mode so no filming issues there.

So it wasn't an excuse it used to be a real problem.

I'm from the Beast Wars Generation too, born in '87, and when I found out comics existed as a teenager I started scouring swapmeets for them. The very first issue I found and read was the one where Grimlock fought Trypticon and earned himself leadership of the Autobots. (The second issue, which I got with that one, was the one where Optimus Prime came back as a Powermaster.)

And in this day and age of TFWiki, there really is no excuse for not being at least familiar with the existence all the major continuities.

Unless, of course, you're not a die-hard fan. Which probably at least 90% of the movie-goers aren't.

True, but... and I'm not trying to be a dick, but I'm saying someone who's a news mod on a fan-site should maybe do the research...

Completely disagree about knowing about the comics. I didn't know there were comics until the '90's and I was 5 when Transformers first premiered and saw the movie in theaters. It wasn't until the Internet and TFwiki that I learned about the comic backstories of the various characters on their bio pages. And being in the States that was also when I learned there was an additional Marvel UK continuity. Not everyone who grew up watching the cartoon read comic books.

As for wanting Hot Rod in the live action films, having knowledge of the G1 movie and cartoon and Hasbro licensing I figure Hasbro likely has been using the name Rodimus until now either because it had issues getting the trademark for Hot Rod or because Hot Rod himself only appeared in a few episodes of the cartoon (not counting the movie which even now does not air on TV in the multi part G2 TV version between seasons 2 and 3 on Discovery Kids) so younger fans and collectors are more familiar with the Rodimus name.

So what I'm saying is I originally only knew about Hot Rod because of the '86 movie and not the comics, I don't think I'm an anomaly, and I think it's silly to argue about who knew what when and how and why and from where. Now my head hurts. :HEADHURTS:

The actual "excuse" (which was and still is true) is that red is hard to capture on film (not digital, film) without looking orange. If you try to film something that's red using a film camera, it will tend to look orange unless you're very careful about lighting conditions and what not. I assume that, from DotM onwards, they've used digital cameras as opposed to film to combat that problem.
