Fans of the new line of G1 reissues with cartoon accurate deco (there must be a shorter way to write this) will be happy to hear that there are more on the way. Hound should be coming soon and after that we will get Thundercracker, Shrapnel and Perceptor. For Thundercracker, we actually have images, while we have product listings/codes for the other two. While Hound was a real surprise since he had not been reissued in the west yet, the others are toys/molds that we know are readily available since they keep getting reissued. The image and listings were posted by JTPrime17. He also provided another listing for a "fan exclusive" Optimus Prime. There is no indication as to what kind of Optimus this would be.

I don't think so.
I never ever saw it live in store and I was lucky to secure a preorder online. Your store may be one of the rare one to have it on actual shelves.

You really can't compare since the mold used for Starscream was never meant to be in a massively popular children's cartoon that has stood the test of time that would show a more perfect transformation. Remember, parts forming was/is part of the Japanese toy/animation culture.

About 8 years ago as Kmart exclusive, but with terrible distribution thanks to massive store closures. Some people found them in large quantities on clearance as their stores were closed down while other stores that stayed open didn't get any. My local store didn't get a single one despite being open until 2019.
But also keep in mind that this time they're going to be in cartoon colors (i.e. flat colors and no chrome) so it's something different.

I think the one on the box is something they mocked up from the original figure, notice it's missing the original stickers (pretty sure the repaint uses tampographs), seemed to try to dull the chromed parts (aside from the wheels) and probably hand painted the green.

honest question: why do you keep asking this?
It's the way G1 Hound transforms. Why do you think they are mistransformed?
What's so wrong about it?
About the mismatched paint, due to the difference between molded plastic color and painted die cast color. Can't get it 100% the same I would wager.

It is surprising, yet it isn't: The G1 originals were all unlicensed, as copyright laws weren't as strict until late 90's into 2000. Previous Hasbro reissues didn't need any licensing info (even if Vintage G1 Bumblebee was a formality), but it is interesting that Hound was never reissued here until now...

Ahhh, I think you're right and PrimevsPrime did say they were all tampographs. I'm definitely looking forward to both of these.
I was going to put in a preorder for the retro Hot Rod as it recently became available again, but now it looks like the preorder is sold out. Hopefully the Hound and Thundercracker will last longer.

I am unfamiliar with the original toy, and from these shots he looks like he's standing on Lego blocks instead of actual feet-looking feet. I thought maybe they weren't folded all the way out. It's the way G1 Hound transforms. Why do you think they are mistransformed? What's so wrong about it?

It's just the back of the jeep folds down. G1 toys were less than streamlined. Specially molds pulled directly from Diaclone for Transformers in 1984.
Also, I guess they wanted Hound to look like he's wearing big bulky military boots.
Anyway, no foul. Thanks for clarifying.

The former. I ordered it with Starscream, this is the first time they've started shipping them.

Waiting on the shipping notice for mine too. I really hope this is because Walmart prioritizes stores before online orders.

I really love this figure, it looks great! I'm really impressed by how perfectly they matched the orange and magenta paint and plastic. I've always been the type of person who intentionally left off the majority of stickers on my reissues to make them look more like the cartoon models so this line is ideal for me.

Based on Starscream lingering on the shelves I wouldn't worry too much about getting Hot Rod. Hound, on the other hand, having never been reissued in the US before is the one I'm concerned about getting canceled on me.

Mine does have a bit of an issue with the left foot, the bit of yellow plastic on the inside is misaligned so the foot doesn't want to fold out and click into place, but it doesn't seem to effect his standing. Also, TFWiki calls the formerly chromed parts "flat white", but they're more of a slightly metallic light gray.

Do both the lower legs lock in for robot mode?

Yep. At first I thought they weren't locking, but realized I just had to pull a little harder and they clicked into place nicely.

For those curious, we have a review below showing the big differences in deco when comparing to the previous G1 reissue. This toy comes with no stickers and every detail is painted instead.
If you have found him, share your sightings with our community in the sightings section and on our boards in your region related thread.

Me too, I adore this line because it give a chance in handling GOOD QUALITY "G1" toys are a very good price. Plus they are different enough to double-dip if one own the originals. Also, the paint may remove some sticker details, but it add details where there wasn't before like the seekers face.

Exactly this. It's what I always imagined my figures were like. I still haven't seen this Hot Rod and missed it online, but I will be looking, as always. The only figures I still have from childhood is; Hot Rod, Gnaw and Punch/Counterpunch(also the Empire Strikes Back Millennium Falcon and a half-dozen G.I. Joes). I sold almost all of mine in an idiotic, drug-fueled 2002 before I joined the army lol

I'm just going by what I see on the shelves. My Wal-Mart is jampacked with G1 Starscreams, Studio series voyagers and the new Earthspark stuff. There's literally no empty spaces, but it's all stuff I don't want. (Yes, I know others might want them.) I guess they'll have to take some of that out to make room for Hot Rod, though the last time I was there I didn't see a tag for him anywhere either.Emerje wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:Last I checked my Wal-Mart had 20 Starscreams on the shelf.
