Classics Jetfire not quite G1 enough for you? Prototype images of a new G1 inspired Jetfire have surfaced on Toyspie.com. The figure appears to be at least Ultra sized, as he towers over TFC Toys Heavylabor. Interestingly, the figure appears to feature a molded faction symbol, something third-party companies normally shy away from. Images mirrored below.

 Wow... That is good!

First Megatron and and now this? Whoever's making these keep them coming! :D

Butt ugly... a good example of an excess need to make it G1 at the expense of making it look good.

2nd wowza! But why are his optics protruding?

Wow,this 3rd party Jetfire toy looks awesome.

It looks a bit blocky in key areas. but I won't judge it further until i see colored pics.

this might go on my "buy list",it the colored version turns out looking great.

in pic #10 in this thread,is that susposed to be a tank mode?

I think this might be leader sized around 9 inches tall & not ultra sized which is aroud 8 inches tall from head to toe.

I do enjoy all the acessories this comes with. hopefully their is a hidden face plate or secondary head to create the face plate head design.

I didn't see any rocket boosters on the lower legs, forearms or on the back pack. so hopefully this company or another 3rd party company create this stuff.

LASTLY,I think the molded on autobot symbol is pushing the limits here. they should remove the molded autobot symbol from the final design. if anyone wants a autobot symbol on the robot chest. then all they have to do isd buy some repro labels or take the autobot symbol sticker from a older TF toy they have on one of those sticker sheets.

Not tank mode. His back angle. And his booster seems to be re purposed as a hand weapon. Skyfire/Jetfire didn't have any boosters on his feet.

The face looks wierd. But maybe it's just the prototype.

Classics jetfire is excellent; this doesn't tempt me at all in replacing it. But it's a nice figure.

That's absolutely unappealing. The Classics mold is more than fine.

No thanks. Universe Treadbolt makes a fine replacement Classics Jetfire. I call him Space Exploration Jetfire. :P

Any Gerwalk mode?

But seriously, the proportions are really off for this figure. Head's too small. Chest too long/big. Sagging shoulders + head that doesn't quite look like cartoon Jetfire. If there are no improvements, then it's a pass for me too.

Posted by Menasor75 on December 26th, 2011 @ 2:51am CST
Unless I change my opinion later, this is one 3rd party figure that I can thankfully pass on for now.

The head sculpt looks a bit strange, and the alt-mode looks very chunky.

This all means more money saved for Mastermind Cyclops not Shockwave...
Re: Third-Party G1 Jetfire in Development (1327190)
Posted by noctorro on December 26th, 2011 @ 3:03am CST
Well, I think he looks great. Head's a bit off. But he's almost exactly like the G1 animation model. The Classics Jetfire is based on the toy (Takatoku Valkyrie) and has the G1 face.

I'll get him, I don't mind the misproportions, the altmode looks great and he looks blocky and hopefully that means sturdy. I like my toys sturdy, not flimsy :)

Anywho, we saw a G1 awesome scaled Megatron, and a few months before that a very awesome looking G1 Optimus Prime (with Ultra Magnus armor with the wide shoulders).

I'm happy for that stuff and all, but are they ever being released?

Ugly head. Surprisingly G1-accurate in terms of its sheer brick-like blockiness.

an admirable attempt to create a g1 accurate figure.. however...

i wish the 3rd party developers would keep their efforts for figures that haven't or probably won't be tackled by hastak or if they have they have been done already, they've been done in a shoddy way (eg classics deluxe galvatron)

jet/skyfire classics is one of the best figures i own - i never thought there'd be any reason for another version esp from 3rd parties.

megatron... shockwave.. galvatron... omega supreme.. those i'd be interested in

at this rate i'm expecting some 3rd party genius to release a new warpath.

There seems to be confusion that a company has done *SKYFIRE* before, which no one has. Classics *JETFIRE* is NOT this figure by any means. That being said, it is wonderful someone is attempting this figure. These are things Hasbro should do for their exclusives. Yes I too hope it looks a bit better down the flight line, but cool none the less.

Bad proportions and uninspiring. I mean, it's not horrible, but with the 3rd party thing getting WAY outa control, these things are going to have to be perfect. This is not.

Okay, so no one has still done a Skyfire figure. That is still the Jetfire figure that is based off the F-14 with a jacked up nose.

That IS Skyfire. The Hasbro and Takara versions are each an homage to both versions of the character. Takara's was named Skyfire. What's the confusion? I'm not bending the truth to put one over on you. We've gotten Skyfire in a Classics form. It has, as a matter of fact, been made. Your original statement is false and I've given you the proof.

The classics toy homages both the toy and cartoon version of Jet/Skyfire thanks to his helmet. Sure the toy isn't totally like the cartoon model of Skyfire, but neither was Optimus Prime, Kup, Blurr, or any of the classics molds.

It's resemblence to Skyfire is definately greater than Classics Megatron's resemblance to Megatron's cartoon model.

For anyone that knows, Robot Master Jetfire/Skyfire is a really cool representation even though he is just a repaint of G2 Jetfire/Skyfire Cyberjet. This has potential I think and we'll see what it looks like in the end. If we are lucky 1 or 2 other 3rd Party groups will jump on this TF and give it a shot. Isn't that right Devastator, Powerglide, and Seaspray? :VEHI:

Wow, that actually shows it to be much more like the cartoon model than I remembered.

I mean, sure it isn't 100% the same, but that's true for the majority of Classics figures.

Blasted G1 cartoon! Why'd you have to rename him "Skyfire"? If you had kept him as "Jetfire" like everything else at the time, there wouldn't be these arguments. :BANG_HEAD:

Look, people, G1 Jetfire was only ever called "Skyfire" in the cartoon. Everywhere else (comics, toys, books, etc.) he was "Jetfire". The cartoon holds no precedence over any other medium, and so if this thing is Jetfire, then it is Jetfire!

And, yes, I know that the cartoon model was changed from the look of the toy, but that model was NOT just for the cartoon, but for the comics. Behold, Comics Jetfire:
Image

Same body, different name.

This third-party figure can represent "Jetfire" just as much as "Skyfire".

And, yes, we HAVE gotten a Skyfire figure before: Henkei! Henkei! Skyfire:
Image

No, that is NOT Jetfire. THIS is Jetfire:
Image

Same mold, but big difference in colors. Classics Jetfire is based off of the Stormbringer Jetfire design, while Henkei Skyfire took that look and tried to emulate the cartoon model's Skyfire colors.

To say that Henkei Skyfire isn't a Skyfire toy just because it isn't a 100% match for the animation model is narrow-minded and foolish. >:oP

That's not Jetfire, that's R-Blade.

I simply don't see the need for this figure to be produced. Besides maybe his size, I can't remember seeing any comments complaining about the job Hasbro did on Classics Jetfire. Strikes me as just another case of a group wanting us to fund their self-indulgence. No interest from me I'm afraid.

This thing looks fugly as hell.
I've never been a fan of the classics mold but it at least looks cool in alt mode.
This 3rd party offering manages to look worse in both modes and I don't see how any kind of re-molding on the final product can make any improvements.

Really awesome. Don't care for the head sculpt though and the jet mode is a little too blocky. Wonder how much it'll cost? Or wait for and hope for a MP Jetfire? Please Takara -we beg of you. All of this talk makes me want a vintage JF even more!!

Technically, Flux is right that Henkei did make a version of Skyfire and is was pretty cool.

But I feel what Mr. Op is saying, for those of us that really liked the Skyfire that was in the cartoon it just was not close enough. I have the toy, like it a lot but feel a better version should be made.

Unfortunately this isn't it. I appreciate the attempt since no one else seems to take this figure seriously but this is just not a good representation.

This figure really needs to be done by Takara in masterpiece form. For me that would fulfill a huge gap in my childhood memories that, as Mr. Op said, no one has really attempted before for some unknown reason.

Completely awesome character that never had a toy release originally, or serious attempt in the 25 years since.

Posted by dinogeist on December 26th, 2011 @ 10:57pm CST
After some serious debatting over this 3rd party jetfire toy. I've decided I don't like it thus I won't be buying it.

WHY? My main reason is I'm not a fan of mis-portioned body parts & mis-proportione limbs on a Transformers toy. The torso piece is way too over enlarged in relation to the other parts on this toy. the robot head looks like it's a deluxe sized robot head put on a leader sized robot body.

My secondary reason for not liking the toy. is the 3rd party designer did a horrible job of merging the rounded off parts with the squared off boxy parts. the upper rounded off arms don't mix well with the rest of the parts on this toy.

Third reason, the toy is way way way too boxy in both modes for my taste. the alt mode looks like a quart sized milk cardboard container. this boxy 3rd party jetfire toy reminds me of energon supreme sized omega supreme.

Lastly, their appears to be extra molding on the upper thighs nears the waist belt that might cause restricted forward range of motion.

Like some in this thread. I also feel the classics 1.0 Jetfire toy is much better than this 3rd party jetfire toy.

IMHO,Personally I don't need takara to waste time+,money+resources creating a masterpiece jetfire toy. I'm happy, content & satisfied with the various Skull leader toynami robotech masterpiece toys & skull leader macross robotech masterpiece toys.

I'll pass on this. Way too blocky and with the job other 3rd party companies are doing this just isn't up to par, not to mention that Jetfire doesn't really need an update.
Re: Third-Party G1 Jetfire in Development (1327476)
Posted by Dead Metal on December 27th, 2011 @ 3:49am CST
No, no no, that's not how you do it.
If you want peoples money for a figure, make sure that it's actually superior to the official version.
I mean the Classics Jetfire mold isn't perfect and there are things I would like changed, but it's still way better than this thing here. So I'll keep him in my collection.
