Well, this certainly isn't where this trail seemed like it was headed. New Seibertronian Nickster563 has taken a look at their own copy of the second Siege poster handed out during San Diego Comic Con, and found... not only a lack of the first hidden message found on that poster, but a second new message!

Nickster563 describes having used the light from a Nerf GlowStrike gun to light up his copy in the absence of a blacklight, as was used to find the previous two messages. No information is readily available as to whether GlowStrike guns use a blacklight or some other kind of light. This means that there are two potential possibilities to be gleaned here:

    1) There are multiple hidden messages on each poster, each revealed by a different kind of light. This seems very unlikely, since it's fairly probable that GlowStrike guns do use a blacklight, but for the time being is is theoretically a possibility. Or;

    2) Each type of poster handed out during SDCC has multiple potential messages, hidden in various different places on the poster - meaning that there could be several other messages yet to be discovered on other copies of these first two posters alone!

Check below for the images (and a quick mock-up of what the message would look like in full, since the GlowStrike gun is unable to illuminate the entire message at once). We won't spoil the solution here, but in a variation from the usual procedure, check back to this post prior in the thread for the (spoiler-tagged) translation! We look forward to seeing your decoding work on the Energon Pub Forums.

Consdering the message (no spoiler just yet), do you think they are talking about a message on Prowl?

I think Emerje is going in the right direction with Prowl being on a poster. I think that this message is meant to point us in the direction of the next one. Since the first secret message on this poster seems like the one we were supposed to find first, this message is pointing to the next part. Prowl springs to mind when you read this message and he was on the poster the first secret message was found on. If you look, the message on that poster was directly over top of him. This message was telling us to look for that. If this is the case, than I think there should be another message from the poster with Prowl on it pointing to us at where to go next.

But, hey, that's just my long-winded theory. I didn't go to SDCC or get any posters so I just have to wait for other people to find the messages.

Well it seems each copy of a poster does indeed have unique hidden messages. I finally got a proper blacklight and was not able to find the first hidden message but did finally get the whole message i found in ome picture.

Oh boy, how in Primus' name are we going to track down every single individual poster if each poster has a unique message? After all, there are so many of those posters, but not only that, we have to also consider if any younger kids got any of the posters or other people who don't have a Seibertron, TFW2005, or any other message board account to talk about their discoveries. :BANG_HEAD:

Though I must say, :HASBRO: is doing a pretty good job with the community interaction in this line, with the only setback potentially being this potential 'each poster has a unique message thing.'

So far, we have:

- Activate Operation Counterstrike
- Autobots, the hour is upon us
- Seek the strategist

That's also the order they've been discovered in. I'm figuring "Autobots, the hour is upon us" is intended to prefix some phrase or another (be it one of the other two we've found, or another one we haven't uncovered yet).

(I figure it's been long enough by this point that we can at least de-spoiler the first two. Yeah?)

I think this one is actually referencing the non-hidden, but still in Cybertronian "light our darkest hour". In the movie the "darkest hour" that was upon the Autobots was the arrival of Unicron so I still believe that's where these messages are heading.

That does make sense considering the IDW comics are about Unicron too. I know these are different things but - how cool would it be if they were connected somehow? (And how many ppl have been asking for comic character figures - I still want Pharma and Drift dangit!)

That figure is already eight years old and we never got another one in Generations which is really crazy. At the time they were shoehorning Drift into all sorts of G1 stories making it look like he'd be the next big thing with lots of future figure potential. Then Windblade comes along and steals his thunder. Variations of Drift got to be in RID and the movies, but basically the same looking Windblade got to be nearly everywhere.

8 years? Vector Sigma... I remember that figure like it was yesterday. Its definitely been too long...

Why I do think it'll be awesome for this line to go he whole hog and introduce Unicron with his own faction (you know the drill, Titan Unicron with a Leader class main underling/herald and a couple of voyagers and a few deluxes and a weaponizer or two) it's just I can't see him being teased till the second line at least. Anything to do with the end of the comics is purely coincidence as when this line is full swing, idw continuity as it currently is will already be cold in the ground.

Reboot continuity on the other hand...;-)

Does "being old" some how make a figure "bad" enough that it needs to be replaced?

Why not instead desire a reissue of the previous figure instead of a new one, like how both Cosmos and Skrapnel got reissued?

I saw someone who digibashed Drift and Deadlock using the P/CP figure. It looked pretty cool, but considering the "No gimmicks unless they were in the original toy" rule of the line I doubt we'd get something like that unfortunately :-(

But there was no original (G1) of Drift :-D
And this gimmick would make sense for him.

Mostly just guessing tbh. Magnus getting the White Prime and Cog being a partsformer sorta made me jump the gun a bit I guess  Plus the one interview that I only half paid attention to where they talked about characters only getting gimmicks if it made sense for them to have it. Drift doesn't have two robot modes, so I don't think that Hasbro would make a figure for Drift using that mold

Unicron-as-faction has long been a thing which has floated around in Transformers lore and series without ever becoming a concrete thing: even going back as far as flat out Unicron's first appearance in The Movie where he's not really aligned with the 'cons and rather is using them (or at least Galvatron's gang) to enact his plan to destroy everyone. We've had plenty of vaguely (or not so vaguely) Unicronian agents as a mysterious third faction in TV shows and comics but generally speaking for toyline and classification purposes they were listed as Decepticons.

The idea of introducing a third faction to Transformers and having the toyline reflect this would be a huge thing for Hasbro and the only time I recall it being a thing was Beast Hunters, unless you count Beast Wars and Beast Machine but these still played by the rules of one good faction vs one evil faction. Presumably a Unicron faction would have it's own symbol. Part of me think this is not something Hasbro would be willing to just casually introduce.

Beast Wars Neo was the first to introduce a third proper faction in the toy line, the Unicron-created Blentrons, after that Armada with the Mini-Con faction. RiD 2001 did have the Decepticons next to the Predacons, but they were treated more as a sub-group and eventually replacement.

It's always good vs. evil, no moral grey areas. I'll leave it at that and watch the discussion about how it applies to real life unfold

Most of those individuals were from non-G1 shows too, so that would be another way for Warden and crew to prove their claims that they don't hate non-G1.

*Imagines the potential Generations Sideways, Tarantulas, and possibly Shokaract were that to be true* =P~

The figure is good, but doesn't really fit anywhere as far as we know. Plus since Warden took over the only figures that he's reissued in the main line (this excludes Platinum Editions) from Archer's era is Cosmos and Skrapnel, the latter being one of Warden's designs and neither being 100% the same as the original. I really can't seen Drift ever getting another run when they can just make a new one with a Cybertronian alt mode if ever.

One of the original TF:TM posters made reference to a third faction known as Unicrons. Probably Galvatron and crew were going to be that faction before just being Decepticons.

So someone on twitter told me that, despite being slight retools of Moonracer, Chromia (and assumedly Firestar as well) have their combiner pegs removed, making them unable to combine with Elita-1. Anyone know if that's true? And if so, what the hell is the point of using the cool, but obviously very flawed, Moonracer mold 2 more times?

Pretty sure, like 99.99% sure that Firestar is a straight repaint of Moon racer with a new head.

Chromia on the other hand was confirmed at SDCC to be neutered of her peg.

Firestar should be in tact as she is the last release of PotP. But we had a long discussion here. It was disappointing, but knowledge since the reveal; at SDCC, that Chromia would not be a combiner. (pics analyzed form many angles). Many fans, including myself, are disappointed. Why was the combiner mechanism removed? Probably to fit with the "lack of gimmick" for the Siege line. (Never mind that every line since T30 has had some bleed over from the previous...). It doesn't make sense to most of us, but it is what it is. Hopefully either through :TAKARATOMY: , or perhaps in a future generations line, or even as exclusives, combiners will at some point return.

Chromia is all new, but the transformation is based on PotP Moonracer. All new mold, no peg needed. For that matter, Ironhide's transformation is partially based on that of TR Sergeant Kup, despite being an all-new mold as well.

You could hope for takara tomy exclusives but I think anything that isn't an exclusive or masterpiece is just going to be a straight up hasbro release. Also where did this rumour start about novastar? It's vern long since confirmed that she can combine.

Aaarrgh...

Well, if there's something that will make me, unwillingly, go to 3rd party companies, this would be it. Of course, that won't happen either since they'd all rather make their own combiners of elita-1 instead of letting hasbro have any of their money. I guess I'll just need to pay someone to cobble together something for me. Man, I miss when 3rd party companies filled in gaps instead of make full on rip-offs.

I guess they removed the gimmick for a better transformation and more articulation like in her feet. The 5 mm port for the combiner hand is missing but in exchange she has ankle tilt now.

One of the biggest talking points, after the initial reveal of the War for Cybertron Siege toys from San Diego Comic Con 2018, was what wasn't shown in any of the documentation, presentations or actual displays: the Decepticons.

Now that distributors such as Entertainment Earth and Diamond are sending out their orders listings for stores for this fall, however, we have more than just a hint towards the purple faction showing up as early as wave 1. Fellow Seibertronian Samsonator contacted us to let us know the following:

My workplace just out through orders for our first shipments of War For Cybertron: Siege figures. Included in the Leader Class assortment was a listing for Leader Class Shockwave. I didn't see this info myself so I can not confirm it, but the biggest Shockwave fan in the store did the ordering, so he knows what he's talking about. So for now, I will say this is a rumour.

The store I work for is an independently owned collectibles store, but the cases we order are the same as regular big box retailers. The listings were all by name, and mostly what we've seen already, except for a few (Voyager Class "M", presumably Megatron, Deluxe "S", possibly Starscream, Leader Class "G", maybe a Galvatron?) but Shockwave was identified by name in the Leader Class assortment

We did some digging, and the rumour may appear to be indeed founded, with wave 1 supposedly including: Battle Masters Blowpipe, Lionizer and Firedrive; Micro Masters Race Car Patrol, Battle Patrol, Airstrike Patrol; Deluxes Sideswipe, Deluxe S (starscream?), Cog, Hound; Voyagers Optimus Prime and M (megatron?); Leaders Ultra Magnus and, here he is, Shockwave. Take this with a pinch of salt until a full reveal from Hasbro and/or corroboration from another source, but in the meantime, feel free to join the speculation in the Energon Pub!

Damn it, I don't need a leader shocky. I need a voyager and a deluxe.

I will take a well done Shockwave. His time has come.

Though still a tad disappointed that it looks like it will be Shockwave and not Tidal Wave

I already got enough Deluxe and Voyager Shockwaves but there's never been a Shockwave beyond Voyager class (as far as I remember). So don't be so darn selfish :BANG_HEAD:

Maybe it'll be Micron Legends Shockwave ;)
I mean we'll get an RID Ultra Magnus alt mode. So why not?
And maybe this one can finally combine with a Megatron :x

But wait, wasn't the idea that this line was supposed to be as G1 accurate as possible? Because if it is, Megatron & Shockwave should be the same size, and if Megatron is a voyager, Shockwave should be as well... Right?

MP shockwave and original shockwave both fill that need. The deluxe and voyager shockwaves have been awful, so I would like a good one in either size class.

The G1 cartoon size guide seems to be the wrong thing to use here. Ultra Magnus is clearly is based off his G1 toy and if toys are anything to go by...

... Then leader sized for Shockwave seems pretty appropriate. :-)

But both are way to expensive and rare by now [-(

The MP is on sale at BBTS for $120 and the G1 has reissues on eBay for under $70. Considering that seige will be about $50 and not be anywhere as good as those two, yeah, I'll pass on it. >:oP

Not as good as this thing?

I'll appreciate an updated version for about $50 or 60 € and I hope it'll have an alt mode that makes more sense than an oversized handgun. The CW Legends class Shockwave was a pretty good compromise for that ;)^

I have to wonder if it is G1 Shockwave, will they keep his alt as a space blaster? I do hope though that it is Tidal Wave using his Micron Legends moniker but my cynicism tells me that it's not likely.

Though if it's a voyager class Shockwave packaged with armour to put the pricing up to leader class, and then said armour could be given to Megatron...I'll be down for that ;-)
