These images confirm that there was tooling done to the inner figure, making him a smaller G1 inspired Prime, with pointier 'ears'.
Thats not all though, two other figures are teased...
This one appears to be none other than Star Convoys nemesis, Super Megatron, with some speculation that it could be a retool of Galvaltron from Titans Returns.
This one is harder to place with some fans claiming it as Snap Trap while others being more skeptical.
What's more interesting to note though that this is being advertised as part of the Generations Select line, that Hasbro announced with Red Swoop and Ricohet (before adding Arctic Camo Megatron to). Could this mean that we could see Star Convoy released outside of Japan as well?
What do you think of this news? Will you be grabbing Star Convoy? Do you think we have confirmation of the Seacons?

I'm trying to see if I can use the sword to figure out who it might be, as the sword itself does look familiar to me as well. At first I wondered if it was just the Nemesis Prime sword, but it isn't. Though it's definitely not Piranacon's sword (and besides, Snap Trap doesn't have visored eyes, he has normal eyes).

It will be interesting to see if & share their selects with one another. Also there was that Armada Prime shown at the same time as Star Convoy initially, I'm surprised there was no update on that.

Look at the right arm... that looks a lot like Hun-Gurr to me. Now as to if it's Snap Trap, we'll have to wait and see.

I dunno. I think the calf/shin sections look just like Hun-Gurr's. Definitely different feet. But of course I can't be completely sure looking at an all black silhouette.

I think he meant a Hasbro Release of UW-08.... It's a nice thought, but doubtful (Glad I have mine... ). I think a G2 Defensor is more likely, but still doubtful as well.
Additionally I'm sure this is way premature...But if that first silhouette turns out to in fact me Super Megatron, is anyone a little disappointed , didn't swing for the fences and just do a Super Megatron toy that upgrades to Ultra Megatron

Unless it were to be just a one-off figure that doesn't combine (a la the Universe Ultra class toys of Silverbolt and Onslaught), but which would leave many a fan feeling very sad.

Maybe they're early on in the design process of the team?

It will be available at BBTS and every other online TF collectable retailer for around the Japanese MSRP, I dont see how this is so different to the case where hasbro would release him. The select line is exclusive regardless.

We shouldnt jump to conclusions. Bendy Prime was shown at a toy show first instead of his combined form even though we know he can combine.

Oh wow...
I had the first Armada Prime, so when they later released just the cab individually, I thought it was kind of pointless. I didn't know it was in fact a more articulated toy, much less tat it was also compatible with the trailer, Jetfire etc... Was Nemesis also?

Not that Bendy Prime. The new one. Takara dropped a protoype of the Cab only for the new mold version of the Armada Prime. But you can clearly see the molded fists for Super Mode inside his ankle

Armada Deluxe Class Optimus Optimus Prime / STD Convoy could pull the trailer, but that's it. It can't combine with the trailer or Jetfire or Ultra Magnus/Overload.

Pretty sure Super Megs is a Galvatron retool considering he already becomes a "tank" and "super jet" but I wouldn't mind that mould again with some new parts.

...I don't know how well my crappy detective work is going to come across when I post this, it looks kinda small to me here, but to me, the arms, waist, and legs match up with Hun-Gurrr (complete with joint at the bottom of the waist for the combiner head reveal), albeit retooled slightly, while the obvious cannons, arm shield, and sword match the character. The sword and kibble shield don't match exactly, but if the spiky bits on the shield are flipped down on the new figure it would explain that, and the sword does still have a similar shape, the same end to the blade, three points (even if two are significantly less pronounced), and a somewhat similar upwards-facing hilt, just with less excess/support material than the original. As for the leg hanging off the G1 figure's back, it looks to me like it folds into the back of the bot mode leg now, which would make sense both as a way to better handle the kibble and for the transformation to work. If the legs transform similar to the G1 guy, then they tab into the sides of his torso like Hun-Gurrr's combined mode, so the beast mode legs folding out from underneath would put them in the right spot.
Other than that, the visor isn't necessarily proof against this being Snaptrap. They could have just decided he has a visor now to make him stand out a bit more, or it'll be different when we see it in color. I almost thought the inner Prime on Star Convoy had a visor when I first looked at it, and that WAS in color, so it could very easily be a trick with the render and our eyes. Also, even if the colored shot still has a visor or not, there's no guarantee the final figure will (See: Prime Wars Blast Off).
...that was a lot more words than I expected.

I got the reprolabels and helmet for him right away so I keep thinking that it's an included accessory! That horrible-from-most-angles facemask gimmick makes it required.

Sad thing is, otherwise he's a fairly solid CHUG Galvatron. All they would have needed is a helmet on him, like the Leader-class figures from TR had.

He just needed a proper regular head. It was our first really decent Galvatron figure and it was messed up by a gimmick. The chest had plenty of space for a proper Galvatron crowned head to fit into as well, just to add more salt to the wound. Very curious to see what we get for Super Megatron. This is a toy I've wanted since I first learned about the Super Megatron character back in the early days of the Internet/mid 90s, especially since Star Convoy had no toy nemesis. Star Convoy was also one of my early Japanese Transformers toy purchases, which I bought at BotCon 1996.
I'm not sure what to make of the inner Optimus figure in Star Convoy. Someone above mention Action Master Optimus Prime, and perhaps the head is an homage to the Action Master toy head (don't have mine handy to compare), but whatever they did with the chest on that Optimus looks bad. Wish they had come up with something else for the chest. I think I'd almost rather see it be a Powermaster Optimus Prime inner robot homage with that unique chest window design. Or maybe we'll get a proper Powermaster Optimus Prime / God Ginrai at some point in the future if we're ever lucky.

That is a cool story (and I'm not being sarcastic, I genuinely liked it) . I got the Star Convoy re-issue at a small local con around 05/06. I always wanted to get a Grandus & Sky Garry to go with it, but alas I sold my entire collection less than a year later.
I kind of like the idea that the inner Prime *might* be an AM homage (even though it Transforms). It would be an interesting fusion of & takes on the character. I'd like it because to my knowledge, there was never an in fiction explanation as to how the Transformers had their ability to Transform restored because the toy line ended after Action Masters, and the Marvel Comic never really explained it (of course Transforming was a rarity anyway in those later issues anyway).
IN my head canon though Star Convoy fixes so many things that went wonky towards the end of the original series .
