Reveals for Legacy Evolution
Core Grimlock becomes leg for Volcanicus
Core Nemesis Prime with new axe weapon
Core Thundercracker with null rays
Deluxe Crashbar, new Junkion character named by Mark
Redecos of these modular Junkions are teased
Deluxe Shrapnel
Deluxe crosscut, the red wheels are because they are o the same plastic tree as the hands which needed to be red. Mark admits he was apprehensive about the red wheels.
Deluxe Animated Prowl
Voyager Metalhawk, based on the Cyclonus mold
Voyager Twincast has a different smirking face sculpt and comes with Rewind
Leader Skyquake which is a merge of G1 and Prime design and has tabs for Needlenose to dock onto (as we previously saw).
Reveals of toys in the pipeline (no indication aside from names and some character art):
Beachcomber
Devcon
Axelgrease (Editor note: this is probably the deluxe car that looks like Lockdown)
voyager Dirge rerelease
"Nemesis Leo Prime"
Armada Megatron
Classic deco Optimus Prime using the Volvo truck mold from the Holiday Prime. With this truck being the most common one many see on the street, it would make sense that this would be Optimus' alt mode if he awakened on earth today.
Just and FYI from the Hasbro team, February will be a light month for reveals but they will be back in a big way in March.

We are getting a firetruck Prime next year with the Voyager animated Prime. So more of a hint than a joke.

And Grimlock what did they do to you? Seriously tho, I understand the reasoning and it does fit with a trend of (parts of) Grimlock's rear half needing to be bigger when a Combiner (him not being a "boxy" shape like the others plays a part in that), but still... You know, I may get them just because I like them as a case study in complex toy designs. Besides, Bandai's Super Sentai/Power Rangers toys, specifically the separate humanoid ones (Shogun, Zeo and Turbo) weren't that much different. Snarl or Swoop should be next, with Skar last.
Skyquake has my attention, because I really like Prime Dreadwing's design. I may wait for redecos though, especially if a G1 EU colored one is in the pipeline.
Posted by Sabrblade on January 31st, 2023 @ 1:10pm CST
They also said that he's not Blaster himself, but a Shockwave-made clone that went awry.
Posted by william-james88 on January 31st, 2023 @ 1:47pm CST
And that Grimlock is not great but this is further proof that while the designers do think of fans when making a lot of these figures, we do not figure much in them designing the core class. It's very much for a different market than the fans not finding it good looking.

I do think the mix and match with Junkions is cool feature I'm just waiting for the moment it no longer works well, hence wear & tear. Once they get more to work with the options could be really cool.
That said Crosscut was kind of neat for a repaint, and Shrapnel looked good. I won't be getting because I already have the older Legends versions and they work better for me.
The only thing that really piqued my interest was the pipeline reveal of Devcon.

Nemesis is well nemesis. nothing to write home about.
Grimlock is o.k. Maybe I'll pick him up. just because he's Grimlock and I have a thing about getting Grimlocks.
Crosscut does nothing for me, easy pass.
I like Shrapnel, and since I already have Kickback, I can't just skip him.
Twincast is o.k. But don't have any real attachment to him, so unless he's deeply clearances I probably won't bother.
And I'll probably break down and get Metalhawk. I just love how they just rotated Cyclonus' arms forward for his jet mode, and gave him a new cockpit / nose cone. Means I can just rotate them back and have a steak back swept wing look.
Really great use of Cyclonus here.
Posted by Nemesis Primal on January 31st, 2023 @ 2:24pm CST
I'm impressed by how different they made Metalhawk's alt mode be compared to Cyclonus, and he's got more accessories to boot? Yeah, he'll definitely be a buy from me.
Surprised by how hench Shrapnel looks. I was kinda expecting/pulling for electricity blast effects, but bug leg guns are cool too. I can't find any eyes on his alt mode though, which is weirding me out (although not enough that I intend to skip him, it's my only real critique). The assumed Chop Shop from this is gonna look niiiice.
None of these Cores appeal to me, but I already knew that would be the case when the names leaked. Cool to see Nemesis has the axe from Optimus's instructions though.
Prowl & Skyquake still look great, as does Crashbar (he's a real boy now, he's got a name and everything), and I guess I'm still getting Twincast for Rewind.
Might grab Crosscut if he goes on sale like Skids has? The red wheels are still weird but they're basically my only complaint.
So they made a point of saying that those pipeline reveals aren't necessarily the next wave....but according to the product numbers and leaks we have, Armada Megs, Beachcomber, and Devcon are all definitely next wave, so are the Voyagers out of order or was that statement a meaningless disclaimer? Also, is Axlegrease gonna be the remaining Deluxe Junkion or the Voyager....
Posted by Ig89ninja on January 31st, 2023 @ 2:30pm CST
Twincast is tempting, but I can't justify buying a whole voyager figure just for Rewind.

Don't care about Nemesis Prime
Sharif don't like it! Rock the Crashbar! Getting this guy
Still getting Prowl of course
Don't care about Crosscut
Shrapnel looks cool! I already have fansproject insecticons though and I really don't like legacy Kickback. Maybe I'll get the chop shop out of this guy
Twincast is still a nope for me
Metalhawk is a definite yes now, love the weapons too
Skyquake looking great as ever
And im excited for copy convoy and devcon

Whenever I hear it, my brain constructs a music video that uses a lot of footage from Thief in the Night.
And now that I've seen his red feet in addition to the wheels, I'm enthusiastic to get what will be repurposed in my collection as Shattered Glass Crosscut, the alien diplomat who runs over/stomps any and all local fauna, leaving a trail of bloody pulp in his wake.
Maybe the red plastic shouldn't make me think of the tips of Nemesis-Big-Convoy's tusks, but it does every time I see new pics.
Everything else looks great! Hope some of it goes on sale.

I caught that also, but I thought it was a name drop error ( they themselves admit they get confused about names sometimes) I thought he meant Soundwave.
Anyway, while it's cool to have a different take on Soundblaster in the WFC Netflix show, Soundblaster & Twincast will for me, always be the upgrades to Soundwave and Blaster ( Just as Galvatron is the Rebuilt Megatron) despite him not being so in some universes.

I hope and pray we get a G1 deco - I'd buy that in a heartbeat as Skyquake was one of my childhood figures.

Metalhawks jet mode looks like they did a 'complete' version of TR returnds broadside which still wouldnt be a good thing and Metalhawk proves it.
Core Grimlock just shows that it was never meant to be Grimlock in the first place with that bot mode.
junkion repaints should be a good thing especially if they can do them with out autobot symbols on them.

He essentially does the same thing as the G1 toy, where the shoulders are the eyes, but it works less well here due to the visible cutouts for the joints.

Nemesis prime looks good, I love the axe. He will be mine.
Grimlock is hilarious, I adore the THICC chonk boy. Looking forward to him.
Thundercracker is OK, he exists.
Crashbar is real neat, I am liking how the junkions are coming along.
Crosscut is ok, he exists. I will pass because I have the T30 and like it.
Shrapnel is ok, I think he is better than Kickback at least. i hope he looks good with the FOC Kickback since that is my Kickback.
Prowl continues to look good. He is one of the 2 I am most excited for.
Twincast is neat, pretty much what I expected. Nothing wrong with him or anything, he's solid.
Metalhawk looks better in full body, and I am impressed with the alt mode differences between him and Cyclonus. Not sure on him though, I like my TR one a lot.
Skyquake still looks fantastic. They did a good job fusing Prime and G1.5. He is the other figure i am most excited for here.
Posted by Sowndwave76 on January 31st, 2023 @ 7:48pm CST
I put two Shrapnels on preorder through Amazon. But I'm not paying $12+ for Thundercracker...
I'll take my chances in waiting for a sale to happen somewhere.
Still not sure how Core class figures at Target are $8.49... But hopefully that continues.
I will say the correctly transformed Grimlock is a big improvement.
Who knows... I may get him and hope that Snarl and Swoop are both good even though I'm still never getting Slag or Sludge.
Either way, I really am starting to see the light at the end of my collecting career tunnel.
Posted by Emerje on January 31st, 2023 @ 8:06pm CST
Just realized he's called Shrapnel again, not "Decepticon Shrapnel" or "Skrapnel". Also the box artist didn't seem to know what to do with Shrapnel's arms in bug mode so they're just hanging awkwardly off his sides. I really like them doubling the "feet" as guns.
Metalhawk looks great, glad they actually did work his twin guns into it, really wasn't expecting that. My one nitpick is I wish the cockpit was bigger and sat further back, more comparable to a Seeker Jet.

It is for stuff that isn't a must have, at least for me anyway. And if I never see it in the wild or on sale no loss either way as it was a maybe.
Actuality I've only gotten about a handful of more on a sale here and there of one's I wouldn't have bought otherwise, like grapple and Inferno were almost 50% off. Saved $5 on Lift-Ticket and a couple other oddball ones I didn't need. Helps balance out when I have to overpay for ones like Cosmos. But pretty much all the main G1 Bots I've bought were full price from EE or BBTS because it was the only way to get them.
Posted by ZeldaTheSwordsman on January 31st, 2023 @ 8:32pm CST
Skyquake is also neat, although I may wait for the redeco.
Shrapnel looks nice; I may actually end up having to get him and Kickback now.
Twincast is... a mixed bag for me.
While it's interesting to know that I was wrong and that the Eject mold is apparently completely separate from his sprues (since the tape window is red while Rewind is black)... that means that they didn't have to include Rewind with him and could have given us the expanded tape door instead, with Rewind being sold in a pack or something. So even though including Rewind didn't force the tape window to be the wrong color... it's forced a mandatory upgrade tape door in a different way. Still getting him though, I'll just be annoyed about it.
Did they give any comments about why they chose Rewind over the expanded door?
Metalhawk is SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY. Although I would still like a 3P kit to give him a Titan Master neck port, just so I can use the PotP figure to make him a pretender by swapping the Prime Master core with a faceplate (I want to do similar with Skullgrin).

Honestly speaking, with Twincast's deco I think Flipsides would have made a better choice as the pack-in. Because if they ever did bring back the 2-pks Rewind and Steeljaw would be a perfect fit and a solid pack, one repaint and one all new figure.

Core class: Grimlock, Thundercracker, Nemesis prime: pass, pass, get
Deluxe class: Crashbar, Shrapnel, Crosscut, Prowl: Get, pass, pass, maybe
Voyager class: Metalhawk, Twincast: Get, pass
Leader class: Skyquake: maybe
Ordered the three "yes"s and the SS Scourge on Pulse. Nemesis I might cancel, 12 bucks for a tiny dude is absurd, but it's about the only scale I'll get a Nemesis in. He'll go with my Core G2 Megatron as a novelty.
Shrapnel looks fine I guess. I'm fine with the Prime Wars Insecticons and will wait for the inevitable Chop Shop release of this.
Prowl..... I've been extremely split on him since he leaked. He looks good but just still too G1. I know I'm the minority in sitting him out.
Crosscut I do not have any attachment to or desire to get.
Metalhawk. So yes. Twincast. Easy pass.
Skyquake: my Prime Skyquake is fine and I'm going to see if they do a more G1 Skyquake deco. Else I'll try to grab him on sale. G1 Skyquake isn't someone I know much about.

Every legacy (and velocitron and shattered glass) figure I bought and even those I did not want to buy have been half price eventually. Even tm2 megatron was initially available at discount, minerva has already been on sale too here. With only inferno as of yet to be more available or cheaper.

Same, only option was to ship and when I tried to add it I got an error that it couldn't be added to the cart. I gave it a minute, closed the window and it worked! I can't be bothered to pay for shipping when I only need to spend $10 more to get free shipping so I ordered two. Might try modifying one to take the Headmaster that came with God Ginrai if anyone figures out how.

I guess Mattel/DC didn't fight too hard for the copyright after that one Brave and the Bold toy came and went. At least that's the only toy I recall having that name back around the days of "Sharp Shot" and "Hardshell"'s reissue 3-pack.
And now all the PotP Skrapnels I acquired in my card collecting can really look like diminutive clones!

For the double cassette door, I think the main reason Twincast is just a simple recolor is because it is a mainline release. Siege Soundblaster was a Walmart exclusive (aside from the Takara Selects version) which likely means Walmart paid for the additional tooling. To do that for Twincast would have probably needed the same treatment as Netflix Soundwave and nobody wants that again. Especially if the only way to get a Rewind is to get Twincast.
