And this is where new design team really shows the differences with the old it seems, not just with deco with mold choice as well. Groove can't seem to catch a break lately, with being a tank in Bot Shots, and now a Legion fembot in this pack. And Hot Spot is now completely red, not unlike Guard City's Fire Chief. >:oP
Here's a different question: what line would they fall under? It's pretty much a safe assumption that the current line is just "Transformers (2014)" now, with "Age of Extinction" as one sub-header, with the Legion repaints falling under an unspecified one.

Not to mention Groove's deco seemingly taking influence from a different Groove than the one everyone would expect -JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:And this is where new design team really shows the differences with the old it seems, not just with deco with mold choice as well. Likely another "archive oops" like Generations Jhiaxus, Hero Mashers Heatwave, and more.
That is the million dollar question.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Here's a different question: what line would they fall under? Though, that giant list from Hasbro customer service system did contain the following mentions:
TRA ASIA KIDS DAY PROTECTOBOT 2 PACK A7779
TRA ASIA KIDS DAY PROTECTOBOT 3 PACK A7780
Looks like these could be them.

Asian Children's Day, huh? *looks it up* In Japan that was May 5th, China is June 1st, and Singapore is October 1st. Sheesh, stick to one day you guys!

And of course Hot Spot appears to be the wrong color - maybe that's just a misprint (wrong picture printed by mistake?)
On the plus side, Streetsmart looks pretty cool! I'd buy it as a standalone figure if that were an option.

Actually, we already have two of the five in Classics form:
GDO Series Hot Spot and Universe 2008 Blades. So the second set would be obsolete.

yes and maybe, we also have had some other protectobots before, like Blades from ROTF
so I will go for Groove, just sad they will never combine

I mean, it's cool that the whole team got released, but apart from the Protectobot label there really just isn't any appeal to these.
*is surprised they've never done this sort of thing for Stunticons or Combaticons; non-combining, non-BotCon sets I mean*

On the other hand though, I would get that set with the Blazemaster and Grapple repaints.
I very much like both of those figures.

Wolfman Jake wrote:The 3-Pack set is promising. First Aid and Streetwise aren't too far off in terms of color from their G1 selves, and they match quite well in terms of a "Team Color Scheme." Groove is a mess. They could have used Legends Animated Prowl for a better robot mode and alt-mode match. The Hotspot and Blades pack is...meh. The good news is, we already have Protectobot Hotspot from Generations GDO, a proper coloration of the same mold (with a more appropriate accessory), and several options for Blades, including the Universe 2008 repaint of Cybertron Evac, the ROTF Evac (redeco of Blazemaster), which is a better color match for the same mold they are using for the 2-Pack, or even Universe Legends Blades (if scale is not a concern). My plan is to skip the 2-Pack, keep using GDO Hotspot and Universe 2008 Blades, pick up the 3-Pack for First Aid and Streetwise, and replace Groove with Legends Animated Prowl.
Yeah, and every time you look at "First Aid" and "Streetwise" you know they are really just repainted Ratchet and Prowl figures from a toyline different than classics. The Prime designs do not pass as classics. Look at the face sculpts and tell me that you can convince yourself they are the G1 bots they claim they are. That is like trying to look at Animated Arcee and telling yourself it is classics. You are only kidding yourself. You might as well just pick up Prime Ratchet and Prowl and use them as stand ins to skip the inflated pricing because that is what they are.

True, but some people may be looking for a closer match to his G1 color scheme.

Maybe this is in response to the TFC designed Star Cats Rescue combiner team being sold at retail in China. Hasbro seems to be doing that lately be it inadvertently or intentionally. Platinum Omega Supreme, Masterpiece Ultra Magnus, Leader Jetfire, Leader Megatron, Springer, Sandstorm, Roadbuster and Skybite. With most of the releases of the third party versions being just before the releases of the Hasbro versions, it would seem that Hasbro hears the rumors of what they're doing and puts their own into production shortly after.

Save the world? WTF? LOL....they are just toys.
And I call it how I see it. These are Prime toys. Period. And no amount of shoehorning is going to change that. If you want them for your Prime collection they will fit in just fine, but as far as classics go that line is dead in the water. Your best bet will be 3pt retailers. And just because Hasbro slaps a name and some paint on some random mold doesn't make it a geewun classics figure.
I always chuckle at the bondage this kind of collecting brings. It is silly. If you want to buy the figures because you just like them then fine, but to call these classics is a joke. Kinda like the GDO stuff, save Hot Spot, and all the movie line junk that people shoehorn into their classics collection because they are mad a Hasbro for not making what they want in their time frame.
I do not have convince anyone of anything. It is what it is. And just because I speak it doesn't mean you have to get all puffed up at me because I said what you are thinking in the back of your mind.

i just sanded a bit the white joint on his tail rotors so it isnt damaged when transformed this way
anyway, really, dont see the problem with the molds use, and no, judging by the photos i dont think they are supposed to be the GEEWUN versions of the protectobots in any mean, really, blue groove, red hotspot, white and blue bot not enough red firstaid, and more white than red blades(the rotf evac was a way more geewun repaint of blazemaster)

The hyperbole I used demonstrates the exaggerated vitriole with which you constantly attack choices made by Hasbro or fans to include in their "Classics" line up of figures. If toys are just toys, you wouldn't feel compelled to knock down everyone's contrary opinion to yours EVERY TIME something like this comes up. Your contributions to conversations here are predominantly negative and don't add to the fun of the hobby at all. We ALL know what you think of "Classics figures" and repurposing of figures from other lines. Trust me, it does not bear repeating. So, please, don't.

My turn to chime in. It's alright to not like something, but to continually bash on it and those who like it day in and day out, almost every single post being negative... it gets old, it gets annoying, and it's not fun.
And like JelZe said, we don't even know if these would constitute as Classics figures or not.

I fully agree. The deluxe AOE toys being under Generations is a clear example of why we shouldn't be shackled to a line's title. Will anyone really use Strafe as a generations Strafe in their classic's collection. Because technically, the art used on his box makes him as legit as any other generations figure.
What I am trying to say is to each's own. The way I see it, this is an awesome way for people to get some fun Prime molds. I only have Beast Hunters Ratchet and if I can ever find First Aid by himself it is sure I am getting him as my Ratchet figure.

As for the other set, the use of the Grapple version of the mold rather than the Inferno version seems like an odd choice if they mean to do a Hot Spot homage, and the RotF Blazemaster mold is just a bad toy, end of story.
Agreed, but I have some solutions to make the set work a bit better. I've got an "Elite Guard" EZ Collection Prowl on order who will be Groove. If I can put the Universe 2008 Legends Animated Prowl head on the Elite Guard EZ Prowl body, all the better! The ROTF release of Evac has a very Blades G1 deco layout already, although the red is swapped out for deep orange. That or the Universe 2008 redeco of Cybertron Evac as G1 Blades would work, though the colors are wrong (except for the primary use of red). I like what they did with First Aid and Streetwise, and we have the perfect "Classics" Hotspot already. I'm wondering if that orange repaint of Grapple might make a good "Hauler." I know Takara-Tomy have already retconned that character to be green, but he's still yellow-orange in his one (in)famous cartoon appearance.

Yeah, but I'd rather have new molds. They don't necessarily have to combine (although it would be nice), just look good as a team. And just for the record, what continuity do these fit into? The three we see here are all Prime, but the other set somehow has both a Classics mold and a Movieverse mold. It really doesn't help that Hasbro used the one Movieverse mold that fits in neither Prime or G1 because it's so alien-looking and oddly proportioned. Why couldn't they at least choose DOTM Skyhammer, who looks reasonably good with Classics figures?
