Kup is metallic. Cant tell the difference with the rest at quick glance.

Kup looks the best but for all 4 of these figures I prefer their Hasbro counterparts.

Nothing stands out enough for me to justify paying 3x as much.

Wow. These pictures just saved me a lot of money. Perceptor is a darker maroon, but not enough to warrant the extra to import, IMHO.

The only United tempting me is Jazz and possibly Scourge, depending on the paint job.

Same here, the only united figures I'm getting this time are Jazz, Tracks and Scourge, still waiting on pictures of Laser Prime and Wheeljack.

That toke me by surprise too. Blurr's alt mode looks the same but his robot mode looks...oh idk...SUPER BLUE than before?

All four are significantly different.
  • Perceptor is missing the orange transparent plastic, is a different shade of red, and is missing the chrome on the knobs.
  • Wreck-Gar is bright red/yellow instead of Hasbro's dark red/brown.
  • Blurr is darker and more heavily saturated. The grill is different, the shoulders are different. The white is light blue. The guns look black, not brownish-gray.
  • Kup is metallic.

Hasbro will do just fine

It looks like the Japanese version has painted eyes as opposed to actual translucent, or it looks that way. I'm completely on the fence about this. Has anyone ever removed the paint from Hasbro Perceptors eyes? I'd like to know if it's any good, or if they put it there for a reason.

Could someone post some Hasbro/Takara comparison pictures so we could see the differences?

TT Wreck-Gar has a silver face, doesn't the Hasbro version use kind of a flesh tone?

the only difference i see that matters to me is the bumper colors on perceptor. I like the silver trim. But i can add that to a hasbro model for far cheaper than the takara one costs.

No, no, No... Perceptor should be a Microscope/Telescope !!! not a Caterpillar snow remover Truck or whatever that is.

The Robot mode is Nice Though!

It's amazing how far a few paint apps can go. Here is my RTS after a few minor additions. I think my fav is the light blue visor, so much easier to tell his eyes now.

Image

-visor
-wheels
-tail lights
-back window
-front red lip
-chrome grill

:D

Would have put martini water slide decals on the doors if i could figure out how to apply them well enough without them ripping

I plan to do this to all the toys, and I think in the case of perceptor it will go a long way

yes because little kids will all see a microscope on the shelf and pick it other a motorcycle or a jet. If you want a microscope buy the G1 toy.

Kind of regret putting them side by side now. I like the more expensive United figures better :BANG_HEAD:

I hear that, Duque. Now I'm regretting jumping hte gun and getting the Hasbro Blurr, as I like Blue-er more than light-er. One thing these comparison pics has shown me is that I really DO want the Takara versions of Perceptor and Wreck-Gar (so awesome looking!!!!) far more than I want the Hasbro versions. In Thailand, the import taxes are so massive that for the stores to make any money, they have to jack up the prices significantly ($28 US for a Deluxe!) so it'd actually be worth my while to get Takara.

As for Kup, I'm splurging on the Takara 3-packs. One version of Kup - battle damaged, though it is - is ok with me, though I really like shiny paint.

I get it, I get it...a lot of people don't want to pay the price for some of the awesome looking United TF's. And being that I said "some" it's clear to me that I will add Kup and Perceptor to my United list. With Cybertron Megatron being my first United fig I can expect only greatness from Jazz, Perceptor, Drift, and Kup. If you want the ultimate you gotta be willing to pay the ultimate price...'nuff said! :CON:

painted rims versus unpainted is a big difference overall for all the united bots. unpainted rims just seems cheap. All of these are Takara for the win.

Kup also has a painted grill/abs.

The only one I'm uncertain about getting is Kup because I will be getting the eHobby release. That's the only reason I'm uncertain though. These figures look better than the Hasbro versions.

Looks like I'll be saving a lot of money. However, I have to sat that the red on perceptor is fantastic

United Perceptor's abs are painted/chromed as well, just like the G1 version. It's better than the Hasbro version, just not $20 better.

ARGH!!!! This has made things very complicated. I'm fairly confident I'll go for Takara's Perceptor. I prefer the absence of the clear orange, the brighter red and the fact that there's more going on in vehicle mode.

Wreck-Gar's a tough one. I know they've gone for a more G1 accurate scheme that emphasises his 'junk' origins, but the overall effect kind of makes me nauseous.

The whole painted wheel issue is a tad trivial I know, and a nice set of shiny black alloys do look great on the right car, but Hasbro's wheels do look really cheap. I think I'll have to wait for Seibertron's comparison shots so I can truely judge the differences in colours for Kup and Blurr.

Hasbro versions are really expensive over here in Tokyo so United wins 4-0 both in terms of quality of paint job and price for me.

All four of these figures look incredible. I just hope a 3rd party makes a G1 accurate, non-crappy head for Blurr to replace the piece of crap he has at the moment and the fix only flaw on what is an otherwise superb figure.

Sorry if anyone has already mentioned this idea, but does anyone else think that we might get a Shockwave repaint (with some remolding of course) out of Lugnut?
The different vehicle mode doesn't matter (same with RTS/United Soundwave, Perceptor, Rumble, Frenzy etc) and he is already the correct size and has a cyclops thing going on.

My god I hope not! The ONLY Shockwave I see in Lugnut is his cyclops eye and even that would probably get replaced by a new head.

I certainly wasn't expressing any enthusiasm for the idea (although I would love a Classics Shockwave) just that it was a possibility.....I could see them doing it.
