Mudslinger's combiner head reminds me of Cy-Gor.

I am very sad about the new Minicon colors.

Well, that is Wave 3 of the 2-packs, and only Wave 2 of the 5-packs. Just to warn you, Wave 3 of the 5-packs will have repaints of Smolder and Huffer, with the Aerialbots and Combaticons mixed between them. So no new drones until the Dinobot and Constructicons ;)

I must admit I had to do a double take on Windburn, as I thought he had a new head. Nope, just a straight repaint like the rest. Easily skipped.

I picked up my first 5 pack the other day, Skyburst/Arielbots. I think it'll be my last. Apart from the lousy paint application, and fiddly combination, the toys are just boring. The main bot is very simplistic, with no great features, and the drones aren't really exciting, even at the concept level. It would be okay if the combined bot was great, but it's not.

I was happy to see new combiners, but these aren't the drones I'm looking for.

Damn, could Doubleclutch's regular bot mode suck any more? I know that sometimes you have to sacrifice a little for other modes, but that's freakin red-ick-u-lous!

All are shelf rotters. I might pick up on clearance as I'm quite sure there will be many.

Darkray, somebody at Hasbro probably likes Pokemon from what I see.

I gotta say, I'm actually digging these PCCs. They may not be as snazzy-looking as the Movieverse or Universe/Generations stuff, but I like that they're keeping the minicon combiner concept alive long after Armada. And besides, they're all cheap - perfect for desk armies, if not shelf display. Darkstream looks pretty cool, and Mudslinger is an instant purchase for me. Windburn looks like an Autobot with that color scheme, though. Double Clutch as Defensor is a nice homage, especially since he's one of the least respected/homaged G1 gestalts (second up from Computron...). None of these are as cool as Bombshock or Smolder, though.

Mudslinger and Doubleclutch, one each on the shelves at the Monona Wisconsin Wal-mart.

I have Mudslinger; he's pretty awesome. And Skyburst isn't the best 5-pack. Don't let that pack neglect you from buying more! As for me, I'm sorta digging Windburn. Anyone care to tell me how good Searchlight is? I don't have him yet.

Searchlight is pretty good, the only real downsides are that his rotors have to be removed for transformation, and that the rotors themselves are not the same: the front one has 4 blades while the back one has 3.

Even though a ton of people are saying it, I'm still not seeing how Darkstream is a Starscream homage. Other than that, I'm gonna say this again, but is it just me, or does Double Clutch's combiner head look a lot like Jazz here? Just give hm the appropriate color scheme and he'd make a pretty good G1 Jazz. ;)

Well they did have the franchise for a bit. Fun fact, Transformer names make great nicknames for Pokemon in the GBA/DS games. Starscream the Skarmory approves of this.

I'm just waiting on the Dinobots.

That really sucks about the change in Minicon colours. Especially Beacon - he seems solid, I liked how all the 'cons were translucent.

Other than that, good golly miss molly. I am loving this line :D

The rotors don't need to be removed. I've transformed him a few times now and have never taken them off.

Beacon looks like garbage. I love the mold for him but opaque is blah. Transparent red though? I'd buy that. The- mini-con reuses otherwise look pretty decent.

I still haven't acquired a PCC yet, 2-pack or 5-pack. If anything, it's gonna be a 5-back that will be my first PCC buy, most notably Bruti-I mean, Bombshock. Getting Skyburst as Silverbolt, Bombshock as Onslaught, Double Clutch just for the drones (and a temporary Jazz), Crankcase as Motormaster, Constructicons as G1 Constructicons, Sledge as G1 Scrapper, I could go on forever (unfortunately, I can't, because I can't remember the other PCC's-that-I-want's names. Whew, what a breather....

These torso modes look terrible... So far I've only gotten one PCC figure (Huffer) and he's alright, I'll eventually have to get a five-pack to get some drones... but dear god I hope those are mistransformed, 'cause eeeeugh.

Double Clutch looks terrible. Actually, most of them do. I've already gotten Searchlight (love him), I'll probably get Bombshock and maybe Sledge and call it a line.

I hate the back kibble to head transformation that Doubleclutch shares with Bombshock and planeguy I keep calling Silverbolt.

Mudslinger AT LEAST appears to have a different supermode trans.

This is a line that's best judged by it's original 2-packs.

these 5 pack specific Commanders are trash.
Re: Official Hasbro Images for New and Upcoming Power Core Combiners (1112175)

I just picked up the Rallybots, but haven't opened 'em yet. The destructicons looked good in person, and wanted to get those too, but at the moment just trying too keep my factions even, waiting on the TRU 7-pack for Searchlight and Aerial bots.

Really sad to see Beacon. I really liked the fact all the minicons were translucent, its kind of why I was drawn to this line, really made them stand out. That opaque red looks more like a prototype, bleah. And the package shows it with a tan-ish translucent color! I can only hope that's a mistake... doubtful.

The other repaints look fairly good as far as repaints are considered (I really hate repaints). At least they are mixing it up putting two the of 5 packs into 2 packs and giving the Searchlight repaint Caliburst. But really... only wave 3 and they are doing repaints?! sheesh.

Nope. They automatically change into either an arm or a leg upon connection. Limits in having them springloaded means you can't switch drones freely, as they can't be both an arm and a leg.

The more I look at these, the less I think I'm getting them. Those two 5 packs just don't grab me and the repaints are just kinda ok IMO. I'm not giving up on this line but I certainly want better. I hope the next wave of commanders is all new with new transparent mini-cons. I'm thinking we need some hot pink, ice blue and cherry red flavors.

The original 2-packs are DEFINITELY better than the 5 packs... And if they want me to stay interested, they need to keep the mini-cons transparent, that's most of their charm! I'm noticing that the 5 pack commanders have no transparent parts like light piping, but the 2 packs do. It really makes the conversion to combiner bot look more stunning.

Yeah, I really enjoy the first handful of 2 packs. I'm waiting on the second wave of those, they look pretty nice to me. I also got the first two 5 packs and they're alright. Just alright. The 2 packs really seem to be better figures all around to me. So far anyway.

I jus picked up two of the wave two two packs.

...

Anyway, I skipped on Sledge because his vehicle mode looks a bit messy, like they just folded the bot in half and stuck parts on him until they could call him something.

The bot itself looks good, and I love the looks of Throttler, but I just couldn't merit him tonight.
Re: Official Hasbro Images for New and Upcoming Power Core Combiners (1112607)

I just realized that Darkstream and Steelshot are also kind of nerfed compared to the normal 2 packs because they don't have any real "power up" mode. At least none visible from the front. you can put a minicon on the back of steelshot I guess as some sort of back pack... I dunno about Darkstream since I didn't get the aerial bots.

It'd be nice if Hasbro would slightly remold these repaints to make them at least worth buying again if you already own the originals. a 15 cent change would merit my 10 dollars.

Planeboy's only minicon port is on his back. The jet mode image shows red Chopster attached to it.

I agree that a minor alteration to Steelshot and Darkstarscream would make me wanna buy them. As it stands, no thanks.

Is Mudslinger's armored car leg drone a remold of Bombshock's? The toes/foot is different, but the front half looks very similar. The connection port is in the same place and both have that flip-out windshield... thing.
