TonTon made the review weeks ago already. He also make nice comparisons with the old MPM-01 which is based on the HFTD leader, and the current SS voyager.

They completely nailed the robot mode! This is definitely something I'll be picking up, though I'm not sure when.

jeez. that lack of articulation in key areas, and lack of solid ratchets where they should be just makes me glad i have the HFTD leader. how is it they can release a "masterpiece" in 2020 that doesn't have a bicep swivel, when it's basically standard on a deluxe?

A jet without jets? :-? It's a shame they put so much detail into the jets in robot mode, but completely omitted them in the jet mode

Preorder him at Amazon.JP
It's the best price and you are sure to get him.

Look like the pre-orders at Amazon.JP are now closed. Only one seller offer a pre-order and it's at almost 40K yen!

I'm pretty glad to not have missed out.

How about you guys? Have you secured Screamers on pre-order?

So some initial impressions on Screamer: The figure itself is pretty good, and very close to being really good. The jet mode and robot mode are both pretty dang neat, and the transformation so far has been good, nothing hugely pain in the ass-y. There are 2 things that I don't particularly like that I'm encountering though: the wings are a little "floaty" alot like MP Track's robot mode. but I also might need to work on adjusting the wings to make them more stable.

The 2nd thing though is the shoulders. They are using a pretty weak ratchet, and he has diecast forearms, so his arms are almost unable to hold themselves up empty, let alone with the accessories sadly.

Are you referring to the robot mode? If so, I don't think you've got them up enough, as they sort of soft-lock in behind his head.

D-Maximal_Primal wrote:...he has diecast forearms
His forearms are plastic. I think you meant upper arms.

On a separate note, I have to say that this is by FAR the best MPM they've released so far! I'm not a huge fan of Bayverse designs, but I have to admit that this guy is really quite impressive.

ZeroWolf wrote:Ah but what was the price difference between what they paid and your amazon.jp order?

Well, for starter, I'm ALLOWED to buy it from Amazon.JP. Can't buy anything from Target.com.
But if I could have bought it from Target, here's what it would have cost me:

150$US plus 30$US of shipping(estimate), plus sureshot custom fees that would be the federal and provincial taxes PLUS 10$CAN on top for "handling fees".
Total: 281$CAN. (214.56$US)

My Amazon.JP order:
The toy plus shipping and custom deposit: grand total of ¥17598, meaning 218.75$CAN or 167.30$US.

So basically, I think I'm paying the same amount than an American buying his locally live in store. And that's importing it from Japan.
It could have been worse... MUCH WORSE if it weren't for Amazon.JP.

Re: New Video Review of Transformers MPM-10 Starscream (2078214)

Yes, I did mean upper arms/biceps, my bad.

And I do have the wings soft locked in like that, but it still feels a little floaty, there are a lot of wings in there, and his sides of chest/shoulders, which is for posing, but is a little too easy to move for my liking.

So last night messing with him, I can say that it's only the left shoulder that is really bad. It can barely hold his arm up at all, and not at all with an accessory. The right arm can hold an accessory up, but it's super close to not making it, and probably won't keep its strength long.

I also discovered something else that really annoys me: how the hell do we have a masterpiece with NO BICEP ROTATION. He doesn't have a waist either, but the biceps, how can you not have any arm rotation like that?

I'm really bummed, I was super excited for Screamer, but there are some things that are letting me down. He's definitely my least favorite con MPM, Megatron clearly and rightfully owns that title, and Barricade is still quite solid. I'd rank Screamer down towards the bottom above Ironhide and Prime, due to those being a nightmare to transform and Ironhide requiring an upgrade kit to hold is upper body together, but below everyone else. Jazz and Megatron continue to have a solid hold on the MPM bests.

D-Max, which do you think is better overall, MPM Screamer or HftD leader Screamer?

Tuned Agent wrote:D-Max, which do you think is better overall, MPM Screamer or HftD leader Screamer?

Yikes, hard decision.

Both transformations are really fun and good to do, and are different enough it's not like it's the same figure.

Jet modes are both really solid. I would hand the RotF leader the slightly better jet mode overall, but it also depends on how you feel about tattoos vs. regular F22 paint work.

Robot modes both have strengths and weaknesses. RotF leader feels more solid, but is backheavy and needs ankle tilts and wrist swivels. MPM is much more detailed and accurate, and is more balanced, but lack of bicep swivels and the loose shoulder kinda negate that.

Overall, I can't really give a recommendation on one or the other. They are both pretty equal to one another in terms of good toys. MPM would win if you are more a stickler for movie accuracy as the 2, but that's about the only way the tie is broken

Or one would break the piggy bank and buy MPM-01 for the true tie. ;)^

This is a reminder that we will never get leader class figures like in the times of 2007, ROTF, HFTD and DOTM ever again. :(

It's cool to know that they are equal. I love the HFTD Leader. Would you say either or is the best Starscream toy ever released (movie or otherwise) ?

I would have to say no, but both are close to being top of both piles. No other Starscream has really come close to them outside the movies for me, but in all cases, I think the SS figure is the better Starscream and best one made

Thanks D-Max. ;)^ I've only ever heard good things about the HftD leader, so for the MPM to be as good even with a few blemishes is high praise.

-Kanrabat- wrote:I have a soft spot for the OG 2007 voyager mold.
I'm weird that way.

That mold is a good example of why accuracy isn't everything. It sucks accuracy-wise, but once you get past that it's actually pretty fun. I mean, how can you go wrong with miniguns for hands? ;)

Furthermore, the 2007 voyager Starscream have one of the sweetest automorph gimmick ever. Plus the fact that the arms and legs of the bot are not really part of the vehicle make it easily swappable for some mad customs.

Ironically the 2007 mold is my #1 Bayverse Starscream. Next is the HFTD leader. And after, the DOTM deluxe and the SS voyager on equal term. The ROTF voyager is an abomination that dosent exist.

As for where the MPM will rank on my personal list? Time will tell.
Lots and LOTS of time. :(

Yeah, I had similar feelings, I had been waiting for christmas coupons to get him, but 50% off is way better - so much for budgeting money...

I still had a deal with the Amazon.jp price.
I can expect Target to pull a "50% off" shenanigan sooner or later. But it's mostly the scalpers who will benefit.

The real pain come from the fact that I must wait until MID NOVEMBER to get mine.
It's unfair. :(

Well only about a month has passed since Movie Masterpiece Starscream went on sale at Target, the exclusive distributor in the U.S. Even so, we have word from Seibertronians Hellscream9999 and Sowndwave76 that he's already on clearance pricing, for $74.99, or half off his MSRP of $149.99. Photo proof is provided below.

What do you think this represents? A quick clear out to make room for MPM-11 Ratchet, who's due out next week? A different conclusion altogether? Feel free to speculate away below!
Re: New Video Review of Transformers MPM-10 Starscream (2081333)

I have absolutely no clue WTF Target is thinking. The Holidays season is just around the corner, Black Friday is not even here yet, and that MPM Starscream JUST came out.

SO WHY PUT ON CLEARANCE A NEW THING? :HEADHURTS:

Clearance is meant to get rid of old shelf clogger or overstock. There will be a few lucky fans who will be able to get their MPM Starscream at that price but we all know it will only benifit scalpers.

Meanwhile, those like me who ordered from Amazon.jp are still waiting, Canadians get the shaft with their 230$CAN pricetag, Quebec get screwed as usual, and Age-3-And-Up (and especially their consumers) must be pretty PISSED.

Not a "dick move" at all. It's the RIGHT thing to do. As long that you are in within the legal time limit. You just have to return with your receipt and they refund the difference.

The "specials window" in Quebec is 2 weeks or a month (I think) but with Toys R Us Club R, it's 3 months. That's why I don't hesitate buying things full price at TrU because the special price always come sooner or later. Now I'm waiting with my Skylinx receipt.

They probably realised it's a mass factory defect from having missing thrusters in jet mode and that's why they reduced it :) Version 2.5 to follow for a reasonable $300 :P
