Greetings Seibertronians! It's back to the Earthrise portion of the Transformers Generations War for Cybertron Trilogy this time as YouTube toy reviewer, TonTon Reviews, has uploaded a new video review of Earthrise Deluxe Class Ratchet! From the forthcoming Galactic Odyssey Collection (along with Lifeline, a Earthrise Arcee redeco)
Thanks to fellow Seibertron users, Praxiusprime77, blackeyedprime, and Hokutron, for spreading this news.
Ratchet is a redeco of Earthrise Ironhide, who himself is a retool of his Siege toy (which was also redeco'ed as Ratchet for 2019s Walgreens exclusive). Like Ratchet, Earthrise Ironhide is only available as part of an Amazon exclusive.
We have embedded the review below for your convenience:
What do you think of Ratchet? Have you preordered this set? Or are you happy enough with any of the previous versions of the character? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

A lot of complaining for something he didn't and doesn't have to actually spend money on.
Dunno, he might have promised a thousand Vietnamese factory workers his soul or worse. Money or sexual favors are definitely being exchanged somewhere along the line.

Amazon did the same with my Quintesson. I had an email saying I needed to approve a bunch of delays on the next waves into October. I approved all the delays but the Quintesson (waiting to find out more about the Pit of Judgment).
And then the Quintesson ships first anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just find it the height of hypocrisy. I watch them for information on the new figs, but I don't get it twisted that he's getting them illegitimately. If it were me, I would probably be nicer about the stuff if I wasn't just hawking for views, knowing that I'm definitely 'Shelton Benjamining' the process of getting them.

Even if what you were reviewing was bad? Wouldn't that lead to a bad taste if you were mincing your words just because of how you got the toy?

I'd be fair. I would review it as I would anything else, but that review was just trash. Plus, all the cursing? When did that start?
I get what you mean, but it was over the top (in my opinion).

They might of potentially been given Ratchet only, otherwise maybe there will be a part 2 but I think if they did have her it would of made more sense to put the two in a video together.

Well, given this clearly has deco changes from the promo pictures initially released (specifically in that the thighs and windshield hinge are now white instead of grey, pushing him more into a Marvel-style Ratchet look)... no, we don't quite know what the toy looks like already. Same for all the other times reviews like this have shown that the final product's deco is different (sometimes substantially so) from the various CG or physical promo pics.

TBH, I'm really disappointed by Ratchet and have been really mulling over whether he's worth getting. I have the old Universe toy. It's not great, but I have him. This guy is more expensive and ... doesn't seem worth it.
On the other hand the robot mode is definitely better. I wish it was as clear cut a case as Starscream replacing the classics mold.

If you can find him Siege Ratchet actually makes for a great Earth-mode Ratchet, despite his alt-mode officially being a "Cybertronian" one it make for a good Earth truck, more so then Siege Ironhide.
That makes me wonder actually how the Earthrise Ratchet shield/roof would look on the Siege mold.

adamage1 wrote:So, now Earthrise AND Siege have the same mistakes: Ratchet is supposed to have red hands and a red waist. At least Siege gave him some red highlights to break up the color scheme a bit, but this version is just a sea of white with dark gray(??) highlights and a touch of red on the shoulders and shins. The lack of his medical tools that Siege had is also a bummer. Instead of a repaint of Arcee, they should have just put that money into this figure.
Only way he was going to get all of the paint needed would be the Netflix line, usually when inaccurate paintjobs happen it's usually because of something with the figure mold, kinda why initially Earthrise Prime was gonna have grey hands.
Plus with him in a two pack here this was the only way Ratchet was going to be released, if it's an exclusive or part of a two pack then that's almost always the case, so what they "should" do isn't always in line with what they "can" do.

I think I'm talking myself into cancelling my preorder. The only thing that holds me back are the robot modes definately being superior to the old ones. Hm.

I know he's supposed to be the exact same as Ironhide mold-wise, and this probably won't ever change.
However, Ironhide is a brute, beefcakey borderline meathead (which I'm okay with this type of character for being a warrior-type of personality), and Ratchet is a medic...
At some point I think a really cool update would be to not have them share the same mold...
Keep Ironhide bigger and bulkier while making Ratchet at least slightly smaller with a different, updated ambulance alt mode.
The only good thing about this Ratchet is the headsculpt. And I do like the look of the Autobot symbol.
But yeah, not only was I not sure about spending $40 to get him, the more I've seen him, the more I'm okay with saving some money and passing on this guy.
Makes me think that if I can't find Bluestreak or Netflix Bee, maybe I'll consider Wheeljack.

Seriously, I don't understand why Ton Ton is so mad about this figure. He liked the mold as Ironhide just fine. I'm beginning to think this guy doesn't really care for G1. Watch the Warpath review again. He doesn't seem to get the "dumb design choices" made in that figure either, despite the fact that it's supposed to be a G1 throwback, like most other toys in the War for Cybertron Trilogy.
If you want Ironhide and Rathchet to be different molds, there are PLENTY of other Transformers lines that have done just that. G1 is really about the only time that Ironhide and Ratchet were mold-mates. It's NO surprise whatsoever that in a G1-inspired line, that is striving to give us the most faithful modern updates of these characters as seen in the original cartoon, that they stuck with making Ratchet a white recolor of Ironhide with a new head and an added light bar on top. Also, of course the figure is mostly white. That's how G1 Ratchet looks. Of course he doesn't have the Red Cross symbols on his shoulders. He can't anymore. They're a protected trademark that the Red Cross actively defends. They could have spared some red paint for the pelvis and hands, but that's all I would change, along with maybe Autobot logos on the shoulders to replace the Red Cross symbols. Is he really that upset that the gun barrels hidden in the shield are white with gray muzzles instead of all gray? Is he for real!?

To be fair, they also shared a mold in Animated (their Cybertronian mode) and obviously classics. Now that I think about it, was there ever an ironhide released in Prime/Robots in Disguise? I don't even think there's an ironhide in Cyberverse (at least not in toy form)
You really want different molds look at how the live action movies handled the pair.
Disclaimer: I've never been bothered that they shared molds. I always took it that they had both started the same way but choose different career paths. I also still want to see the universe where Ratchets gender was kept female like his name sake

While my neck collar was not damaged but it was loose in the box as I noticed a rattle carrying it in from the car. When I opened him up and pulled the inner box out the collar fell out.

While we use the "Earthrise" moniker, it is just used here as a placeholder name until we know how this is actually getting released. At this point we have 5 different avenues of release with that being mainline retail, mainline retail exclusive (ie Amazon/Target), online only (ie Fan Channels) Netflix line and Generations Selects.

I still believe that Runabout & Thrust may be the only toys of a standard retail 4th wave (repacked with others of course). Pretty much every exclusive has been revealed. It would not make sense to me for these to be released as Selects, nor in a 2 pack from Amazon, but I guess stranger things have happened.
Well Thrust and Runabout both have WFC-E numbers, so selects is out. Also Thrust is WFC-E26, way too low to be in wave 4. Also, the shelf tags in Canada showed he was a solid case and likely an exclusive like Bluestreak. Runabout is WFC-E41 which does line up with wave 4 if it still exists, but it also lines up with where many exclusives ended up for Siege.
Keep in mind, the map is the only item that ever indicated a wave 4 and that would have been created before Covid-19 threw everything off.
Since wave 2 isn't even in stores yet, I can definitely see them moving Runabout to online only just so they don't have to delay the start of Kingdom. From a planning standpoint, skipping wave 4 for retail/in stores and moving it to online only makes the most sense so that they can try to line up Kingdom wave 1 for January.
