Greetings Seibertronians! We've received word from a few fellow Seibertron users (Turned Agent, Praxiusprime77 and -Kanrabat-), we've learned that PrimeVsPrime has done a new review for the forthcoming Netflix Transformers War for Cybertron Trilogy Soundwave!
This Soundwave is a retool of his Siege Voyager Class toy, complete with slight redecos/retools of the first Spy Patrol Micromasters (Lazerbeak and Ravage). Soundwave no longer turns into his Siege spaceship alt mode, instead taking on his classic earth mode! Lazerbeak and Ravage under go slight modifications as well with their appearances to better match their earth modes (for example, Lazerbeak sports a new head).
Soundwave is set to release soon but only at Walmart for those who live in the US and Canada (UK fans should keep an eye on Smyths toys)
Here's what PrimeVsPrime has to say about the toys:
Are you getting this version of Soundwave? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

So I guess an impulse purchase if seen live in store, but I'll not be going out of my way to get it.

I'm in pretty much complete agreement. New Laserbeak looks good, but I don't really care for the new Ravage. I'm worried I won't be able to sell them separately though.
It occurred to me that I don't really want this for the tape deck mode, but more just because it's clean. I might try to get a Siege Soundblaster to have the mold around after I sell my Siege Soundwave.
Also, Buzzsaw when? Maybe that's one of the unannounced Selects sets.

But I will essentially hunt for this figure, because I can't help but think that the next time a G1-esque Soundwave is released, it will most likely be quite different, and imo, be hindered (and possibly ruined) by some sort of gimmick.
Which also means it could be a really long time before we get a better version than this one.
I kinda wish he was packaged with just Lazerbeak... I too could pass on Ravage.
In fact, I wish Ravage was replaced by Frenzy or Rumble.
Either way, I'm really looking forward to this figure; if I can get ahold of it!

It's been so long since I've seen that one Knight Rider episode. Cullen does go a bit deeper in the live action films. But not sure if it's close to anything like Venger from D&D or Cindarr from Visionaries, those were great villain voices.

It's mostly on display when he has Prime say his most aggressive lines like, "Give me your face!", "I'll kill you!", "He's going to die," or "We will kill them all."o.supreme wrote:Sabrblade wrote:He kinda already uses that voice in the live action movies.chuckdawg1999 wrote:I know this will never happen but how cool would it be if they got Peter Cullen to voice Nemesis Prime and he used the Karr voice?

Yep, Takara is releasing Netflix Nemesis despite their having already released their own Siege Nemesis previously.

Original figure for reference:
Netflix appearance:
It's unknown if Hasbro will ever release this version of the figure which could make it a hard to find collectible for fans trying to complete their Netflix lineup and unwilling to settle for the original Walmart release. Takara Tomy Mall will also be the exclusive seller in Japan to including ER EX-20 Ratchet and Lifeline, ER EX-21 Bluestreak, ER EX-22 Centurion Drone, SG-EX Rainmakers. If you have any thoughts on this release feel free to post them in the Energon Pub forum!

Yeah, it's confusing. TakaraTomy Mall says it's a normal Siege figure while Hasbro Pulse says it's a Selects figure. It appears that Hasbro and Takara are treating this figure differently. Takara is selling it as part of their Siege line in Japan, while Hasbro instead puts it in their imports of Takara's Selects line.TF-fan kev777 wrote:According to Hasbro Pulse, Soundblaster is Selects and not Earthrise or Netflix, the 2 forums I've seen him posted in. This is a redeco of the Earthrise deluxe class Wheeljack that saw release as part of Wave 1.
We have embedded the review below for your convenience:
What do you think of this deco for Wheeljack? Will you be getting it or will you be sticking with his Earthrise release? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

They did Voyager Nemesis Prime last year, also a Takara Tomy Mall exclusive, Soundblaster is just more of that. There's still a bunch of Selects and retail exclusives from Hasbro that haven't been released in Japan while Hasbro has only missed NP from Takara Tomy.

It is confusing for sure, but it does provide insight in how the brand unification is put into practice. True, the figures are still (mostly) untouched when imported into either region, but either company is still allowed their own projects and especially release scheme, even if there's overlap when it comes to characters like Nemesis Prime and now Soundblaster.
The main lines in the WFC Trilogy and the Netflix series are pretty much shared, Selects is split between Hasbro and TakaraTomy, and standalone exclusives are free-for-all if there's a way to make them fit. Unfortunately, Hasbro has no real place for Soundblaster as Siege has effectively ended here, so he gets chucked into Selects with all the other TakaraTomy imports.

Redwings white paint chipped on first transformation to trijet so I'm just leaving Hotlink alone to look shiny and scorchy.

I have almost no hope of them actually shipping out on time. Wave 1 was delayed so far that I found everyone I wanted in stores and cancelled the pre-orders before they shipped. I'm expecting the same for wave 2.

I'll be curious to see whether my leader spoiler pack ships from Walmart or Pulse first. I ordered the Spoiler pack, Bee and Elita-1 from Walmart when they were first announced, but then ordered a second Spoiler pack from Pulse once we knew who was in there as I didn't want to chance things with Walmart.

Impactors and red Alerts are now being cancelled outright, and more delays with the other deluxes and voyagers noted. No confirmed leader delays yet

Amazon, for all the pains of delays are at least frequent with their notices. Target was a huge Pain, not doing that again, now I guess it's Walmarts turn to mess things up for me, though from what I've read, they've messed over plenty of fans already.

A fourth told me that Elita-1 (again), Red Alert, Wheeljack, and Impactor have been delayed to an unknown date "due to high demand" (I wasn't able to order Soundwave and Bumblebee). Walmart sure is doing a great job of continuing to screw up their pre-orders. I pre-pay for my pre-orders using PayPal, you'd think that would make my orders a priority since they already have my money, but I guess Walmart only cares about the money, not the service.

Wasn't it great then that Walmart got even more Exclusives to sell?

On the plus side, even when they completely botch pre-order fulfillment like with Netflix wave 1, there's still plenty of stock at retail later. Put another way, I'm annoyed I'm not getting them yet and don't know when I will, but I'm confident I'll get them in my hands when they come out.

^This. After wave 1, I really had zero expectation that Walmart would actually deliver before I found them in stores. It would have been a pleasant surprise, but I definitely wasn't counting on it.
I have a back-up plan order for the spoiler pack on Pulse, now I'm wondering who will come through first and who will end up canceled.

Actually, the spoiler pack was the only thing that didn't give me trouble, it was literally everything else that they managed to screw up one way or another. Ended up having to buy everything at retail which was its own headache when PayPal screwed up the refund. Delays I can deal with, I just hope they don't have any more of those computer errors that a lot of had last time where orders were frozen in their system without ever being shipped after supposedly being packed and ready to go.
Seriously, now do these multi-billion dollar stores like Walmart and Target still use such terrible technology?

-Soundwave and the cassette retools with him were originally planned for mainline Earthrise, but there weren't enough slots for them and they had too much retooling for a Selects, so they got dumped here
-Elita and Bee replaced 2 originally planned and less desirable repaints, one of which wasn't specified and the other allegedly being a "flesh-colored" Ironhide repaint with green eyes and windows (no idea what that's supposed to be, maybe one of the Sparkless from the show or something from the next season?)
-Elita was going to be a Selects release that got moved to fill a spot
-Bee was a very last-minute addition due to how long it took to get the license from VW, if they couldn't license him he would have required a completely new alt mode and I guess they weren't intending to make that
-Some of the development budget for Bee had to get spent on the licensing, which is why Bee didn't get new accessories, otherwise he was supposed to have his gun that ended up getting shunted to the weapon pack
-Licensing is 100% the reason for Selects Bug Bite using Cliffjumper's alt mode, they would have had to spend money that isn't in the Selects budget to try to license him and even then VW could have just said no, so they didn't try
