I think it's a joke about bumblebee being a convertible now, hence topless. Remember dragons is also using a translation tool.

He means since the new car in the movie is a convertible with the top down, he's wondering if the toy will be the same, like Sideswipe in Dark of the Moon.

Yeah, I had to read it a couple times myself.

Via the very active Instagram account of the Transformers: The Last Knight marketing team, we have two minor updates. In one clip, embedded below, Josh Duhamel / Lennox, makes a rousing speech about checking the Transformers Facebook page every Tuesday to get behind the scenes updates from the set (we'll stay tuned for you).

In the other, the IDW people were rightfully excited to spot two comics from their production, both part of the Transformers series (and one issue from when it was still called Robots in Disguise) by John Barber, and one with art by Andrew Griffith (issue #13) and one by Sara Pitre Durocher (issue #47). Just an easter egg, or a chance that some ideas might find their way on screen? Check it out below, and speculate away!

Pro-tip: read the IDW comics.

It's always seemed bizarre to me that IDW and Bayformers run at the same time - like, on one hand you have MTMTE which is clever, fresh, interesting, hailed as one of the greatest contemporary comics period by critics and has characters and situations that are deep, relatable and interesting on a level never before seen in Transformers... and you have Bayformers which is about as generic an action movie as you can get.
Not meaning that as an insult to Bayformers I just find it kinda funny

Try actually reading the comics and you'll know you couldn't be farther from the truth. Also, reading more might help you improve your grammar.

If you read the IDW comics, you'd know that there are no good guys vs. bad guys anymore. The war is over, and the characters are more complex. Starscream is the (elected!) leader of Cybertron... and miserable, possibly going crazy (but is a depressed way, not crazy with power). Megatron has renounced violence, and is trying to atone for his sins... while being put in situations that require him to use violence for good. Optimus Prime has tried to conquer Earth, which sounds bad, but he's doing it "for their own good," so not exactly being evil. Soundwave is trying to build a commune for Decepticons out in space, away from Cybertron. Skullcruncher has become a stand up comic... the list goes on and on and on...

And so the tradition of assigning G1 names to green construction vehicles that don't really fit continues. RiD 2001 Grimlock would be proud.

Or, maybe this is just taking a really weird spin on the Combaticons...

Fellow Seibertronians, thanks to several users, we now know just who the green tow truck will be in Transformers: The Last Knight - Onslaught! Yep, seen here on Micheal Bay's Facebook page, the leader of the Combaticons is getting a bit of a make-over as a heavy duty tow truck. We also get a short video via Instagram that shows the newly named Onslaught driving down a road along with Barricade and the rusty van Decepticon.

Nothing can prepare you for Onslaught.

Or the combat part can be his pure cambat ability and has almost nothing to do with his vehicle mode?

He has a tow truck hook so I assume that will be a weapon of his in robot form and with Onslaught revealed I will not be surprised if the Rusted VW van is Swindle and even Vortex and Blastoff are Cgi air vehicles like Starscream was sometimes.

Brawl is already dead so I wonder if they might tie it in somehow with Onslaught being around for revenge or something.

I just hope the next movie's figures step up a bit in complexity again, Hasbro took the complaints of over-complication too far and erred on the side of simplicity that time around. The figures I got out of it were just boring and/or shellformers. Hopefully they can find a happy medium this time around.

The 1986 G1 combiner subgroup names were all derived from their vehicle modes:

Stunticons: Reckless-driven cars and trucks
Aerialbots: Aircraft
Combaticons: Military combat vehicles (plus a cannon-armed space shuttle)
Protectobots: Emergency response vehicles

The news article wasn't calling this TLK Onslaught a Combaticon. It was saying that the guy who was the Combaticon leader in G1 is having his name applied to this new TLK character. Don't take it so literally.

We never saw Barricade getting killed that's the thing we were left to assume he did die but he was still moving around alive when we last saw him and yes I did watch that scene carefully.

And for those talking about rezzing guys back from the dead that has only happened 4 times in the movies and 3 of them happened in one film and the 4'th was pretty much just cloning/transferring his still active mind to another shell.

Only Sam, Optimus and Megatron has been brought back from death everyone else is and probably will stay dead.

"that has only happened four times"

Honestly mate, if they wanna bring back a character, they will. Death won't stop them, especially in a movie where it's just a big blockbuster they'd want big names like Soundwave to advertise and draw people in. Enjoy the movies' plot if you want; but you've gotta realise that it's really not made to be brilliant with lasting impact. Death has not, is not and never will be an issue for this type of movie.

Bullshit!

If that was the case they would not kill Soundwave off and he would have made a bigger impact in the movies he was in and they would have brought him back in AOE Bay could have brought Jazz back but did not because death is permanent in these films with only the leaders being exceptions.

Why are you sure they won't? Why are you so sure they really care so much about silly little things like continuity and story in this sort of movie?
Again, enjoy the story and characters if you will... but you're kinda deluding yourself if you think they take any sort of priority.

I'm not sure they'll bring them back. I'm just sure that if they WANTED to, they wouldn't let anything stop them. They'd come up with some rubbish to revive them.

And yeah, I'd love to give some of the lower guys a chance. I actually wish more Transformers fiction would do that and it's one of the reasons why I love IDW's MTMTE so much; it brings life and personality to a lot of characters who previously had practically no fictional appearances at all. But it's the movies. The movies' sole purpose is to make money. There's no real care for plot and character; no real care for doing anything original or making particularly amazing or stylistic directing; it's just all for the money. That's why they're a heck of a lot more likely to bring back guys like Starscream than start using Sureshot or Siren or Runamuck or whatever. They could - and, in fact, the last movie did feature a Crosshairs in a starring role - but they're more likely to use characters that are a lot more recognisable.
Again, like it if you want, I can't stop you; just realise that they're doing it for the money and plot and continuity isn't going to stop them from doing whatever they want.

Anyway, this is a bit derailed. We literally just got news a few hours ago and already we've gotten back into an unrelated argument this thread seems to generate. How did we get on this optic anyway

After what the Bayverse did to Devastator, I never presume that they're going to get it right when making over a Transformer into 'their' interpretation. The fact that they're making Onslaught a tow truck instead of a missile trailer? Doesn't bode well.

Not sure of the reasoning. I mean, when I want a 'combat vehicle' I don't think 'Gee, I'd better get a TOW TRUCK'...

I gotta speak out man only way to vent when I don't agree with other opinions and since I'm part of the unpopular opinion club most of the time that happens a lot.

Can't ignore things I'm sick of just putting what frustrates me in the back of my head it drives me crazy and I don't want to yell in my house and get my family mad at me again.

Prime Breakdown and G1 Breakdown are entirely different characters who just share the same name. They're obviously not alternate reality versions of the same dude. Hasbro has to recycle names to keep the rights to them. The fandom has been used to that ever since Beast Wars.
