It was right there in front of him, and he just left there. He could have easily picked it up before running off with his men. Last episode showed it to not be all that heavy.

Not likly. In part one, ratchet said it was bio-mechanical. Not somthing one could just build. Also, check out the size of it in Starscreams hand. It may have been to big for the escaping silas.

My guess is that eventually Starscream will try to find and take Skyquake's cog.
