While this has little to do with the Studio Series revealed at the Fan Expo Canada 2018, the Studio Series Deluxe Class Dropkick and Voyager Class Revenge of the Fallen Starscream now have final product Hasbro stock photos! While we had two foggy stock photos for Dropkick and TakaraTomy stock photos for Starscream, we get to see Dropkick in much better detail, as well as Dropkick's box and both of their backdrops. Dropkick transforms into his helicopter mode, as opposed to his car mode and Starscream is in his Revenge of the Fallen/Dark of the Moon body with his buzzsaw.

Now these stock photos come from listings from Stor and Lien AB's website.

Interestingly enough, Dropkick is described as an "unknown hero" in the URL. Starscream is also referred to a Deluxe in the URL.

I like Dropkick, but he sure doesn't look anything like his character model.

Blitzwing's looking awesome!

Dropkick looks nice. Do you guys think I should wait until they get their car mode toys (IF they get them) or should I just grab these?

Dropkick looks like a power core combiner. That's not a compliment.

Just gonna throw some of my pennies in :p

I don’t mind fake parts as long as they make it accurate to the source material aren’t being used in a lazy way. Evasion prime has fake parts but they are used in a complex way to hide in vehicle mode and create an accurate chest. That’s good. AoE Hound uses fake tires on his feet because that’s accurate and hard to engineer, looks ok and I don’t mind. Legends Jazz has TWO (count em’, TWO) front ends because one is a lazy fake. That sucks.

Not gonna buy old bee because I have the 07 one. Barricade (yay!) looks like he’s missing some paint in vehicle mode. Looks like missing headlights are the new car rims, but my old deluxe is worn out. Sideswipe is a need because I love the DotM Stingray. Dropkick looks interesting, I need more helicopters. Skipping starscream just because the tats don’t warrant two figures for me. WW2 bee will fit in with my old toy planes and tanks on the Knick knack shelf!

Dropkick looks fun but might be a bit misleading if you go by his cgi box art which clearly shows him as a triple changer.

william-james88 wrote:Prime's alt mode is all over him in most of his toys. His chest usually has his truck windows. Thats why no one minds the grill changing a bit, the alt mode is clearly visible everywhere else. But with movie figures, they looks like junkyards and now one of the main parts of barricade which actually looks like it could be from a car is a fake piece. Thats just weak sauce man.

Just going by the past couple years of G1 Optimus Prime toys: Titans Return Voyager. Fake windows. Power of the Primes Leader. Fake windows (on top of the real windows from what i see in a picture of the matrix chamber?). Titans Return Leader barely has windows to begin with but ends up covering the vast majority of the chest with random looking silver crap that doesn't look even in the slightest truck-like.

And really what else could that Barricade toy turn into do you think? His chest still looks plenty car-like to me. Plus the wheels and car doors? Why, I can't possibly figure it out. Helicopter? Nah. Jet, nah. Dunno. oh wait... DINOSAUR? no? Well, I'm stumped.

"they looks like junkyards" Ah now see this is where we totally disagree. I think the movie characters, for the most part are beautifully designed and helped pushed past the over-use of simplistic generic-looking robot designs that a lot of (particularly vehicular-based) Transformers had been using for the past 20+ years. Even something as simple as how the 2007 Concept Camaro Bee toy's chest turn ups at the sides with the middle kept down like it was saying 'nah' to choosing between the old G1 Sideswipe/Hot Rod hood down and the Prowl/Jazz 'car-boobs' look and went for a fresh mixture of the two.

Anyways you've been ignoring actual good points made by myself and (a very well written post) by Wolfman-Jake about just how much engineering can be fit into certain sizes of figures when trying to maintain character model accuracy and you've not provided any sensible alternatives. They've tried twice to get the car front turning into the robot chest in the 2007 toy (which just looks horribly inaccurate and poor these days) and the DotM figure (which still uses a fake part to some extent since the middle of the grill and bumper end up on the inside with a fake angled one flipped out to try resemble the movie CGI model a bit more). So they've tried. This time we finally getting a Deluxe Barricade that looks about as accurate and awesome as a Deluxe Class Barricade could ever look and if it does that with a lil bit of 'cheating' I'm absolutely frickin' fine with that since as I said before, it looks fantastic in both modes and is still a transforming figure. I mean if it REALLY cheated by having a completely seperate piece you had to remove (like if you had to take off the car front completely and set it aside and attach another totally seperate chest piece on), now that I would think would be pretty lousy cos 'partsforming' is generally lame and for the most part should have died with the various original G1 toys such as the seeker jets and Ultra Magnus. But nope, if this toy does indeed have two car fronts in both car and robot mode versions within the toy itself then it's doing a good job of hiding it because the car mode itself looks great and far superior to previous versions (Yay for having PROPER transparent rear windows this time... the 2007 and DotM figures DO NOT) and has by far the most accurate rendition of his awesome robot mode the Deluxe class has ever done too. Even if the real car front is visible from the back of the figure (which haven't seen yet) I'd be ok with that cos it's still mostly hidden from general view and it's not blatantly just sticking out (the side view in the photos looks actually very clean).

And i'm not even sure what 'weak sauce' even is. Some internet slang thing i missed out on or something. Having to resort to a silly picture like that in such a debate seems very cheap itself.

at this scale there is no possible way that hasbro could make a deluxe triple changer (heck, they could barely pull off voyager triple changers). clearly what they are doing is making separate toys for the cars and flying vehicle modes to make the vehicles not have to be compromised like crazy, and make them actually possible to transform at this size. also the blitzwing thing was him making fun of the name change in the bumblebee film. (starscream -> blitzwing)

My point was that they should have made a new cgi render so kids weren't misled when they wanted Dropkick for their collection as it's a high probability that hasbro will use the same cgi render on the box art. I think they will try a triple changer for him at some point though :)

I had a hunch you were talking about Starscream :-P

Its just an expression and I added that image to make light of the situation, since these are just toys afterall, nothing to really get wound up about. Look, I will still be getting this barricade, an I look forward to transforming him but I am still not super fond of fake chests when it wasnt fake before. We'll see how this guy turns out for me.

Agreed. Unfortunately, I don't think we're ever going to see a triple changing live action movie toy unless it's an alien/absract cybertronian mode. The movies focus on having real world vehicles for the alt modes, and there is no way to get two clean, good looking alt modes in one figure that is going to pass the licensors' standards for aesthetics and authenticity.

At any scale really. I would love to see a triple changer have 2 different licensed alt modes (one flyer and one car) but it dont see that happening soon (and its not like 3 p companies can do that either).

Both Nathaniel Prime and Overcracker have let us know that there is a video review of Studio Series 18 Deluxe Volkswagen Bumblebee. This review comes to us from Peaugh. We had a transformation video already but now we get an English language review for this very anticipated figure. This is the first release of this mold and we will be seeing it again in gold for the "exclusive" Retro Rock Garage Vol. 2 set. This toy should be found in stores soon as the shipping date from Robot Kingdom is September 28. Bumblebee will be 3 per case so there should be no problem finding him. Here is the entire case content:

CROWBAR X 1
BUMBLEBEE X 3
RATCHET X 2
RAIDER X 2

Some more shots of Brawl from work on Friday. I really like the attention to detail and the massive amount of guns. Movie designs are my favorite.

also, still super stoked for WWII Bee. That is fantastic.

Fellow Transformers fan and toy reviewer on YouTube TFA1024 - The Transformers Addict has reached out to us with video reviews for two new figures from the Studio Series toyline of live action movie figures - specifically, we're talking about StudSer 16 Ratchet (in his Dark of the Moon deco) and StudSer 17 Shadow Raider, the orange Lockdown redeco with the visor mask seen in Age of Extinction. Both figures were first seen at the San Diego Comic Con 2018 Hasbro booth.

The two reviews have been embedded below for your viewing convenience, and show off the vehicle and robots modes for each, plus some comparisons with previous movie molds that shared the screen with the characters. Check them out!

In addition, TFA1024 also posted a video of the upcoming Studio Series 18 Bumblebee figure where Bumblebee transforms in a Volkswagen Beetle.

They both look good, but the only one I'd must get is Shadow Raider. He looks awesome, maybe even cooler than Lockdown. DOTM Ratchet looks good, but you're only really getting him for the gun, so a pass for me unless I have some sort of discount on him.

I'll tell you this Nathaniel. Ratchet is honestly a lot better in hand. He's tighter (at least my copy is) compred to SS 04 Ratchet and looks strikingly better. Shadow Raider is great in hand as well. At first i was skeptical but after getting him he's a pretty good figure. i recommend both of them if you don't have them already

I'm mixed on Ratchet. I want him for the gun, and while I do like his colors more as they're not eye blinding green, I'm doing the first movie cast, and a few others and that's not how he appeared in the first one. May just pick both up, but at the moment, neither really outweighs the other and I'm trying to avoid getting too many of the same figure

Has there been any explanation for Ironhide's flawed-looking right eye? It looks like his face is drooping or something weird. At first, I thought mine had a mold flaw, but the others I saw also had the same flaw/problem. It looks pretty bad in my opinion.

He has a scar going over his eye in the movie, which that's supposed to represent.I will agree that it looks a little off on the figure though.

Attack on Titan: Predaking Edition.

SS Jazz and Predaking feel so good together, and I am really feeling that Fall of Cybertron trailer where Jazz jumped on Bruticus, and these 2 feel great with that sort of size and I really want to do that pose now. Jazz is perfect for this, and he's a really really good figure in general, I love him!!!!

Yeah it's movie accurate. Not an error. He's a tough old git who's been through tons of battles.

Anyways I found Toys R Us Thundercracker in the Cambridge branch of Forbidden Planet (they also had two Ironhides but i got him already and he's awesome) and my friend was working there so gave me 10% off without me even asking. Sorry for the crap photo. My phone's USB charge port is busted so is off for repairs and this temporary phone is garbage. Anyways yeah she says they got in quite a few of Toys R Us' exclusive toys and such.

Both Canada and the US seem to think the grass is greener across the border when it comes to sightings and distribution. But this time, with Transformers Studio Series Ironhide, both countries have found the toy at the same time. In Canada, Ironhide was found at EB Games in Ontario for $39.99 CAD (or $35.99 with an Edge Membership) by Cybertron.ca member neevnav.

In the US, Ironhide was found at Target in Virginia for $29.99 USD by TFW2005 member clydegoobler.

For those wondering, Ironhide comes packed with wave 1 Optimus Prime. Good luck on the hunt and if you find him, let the community know through our sightings section and sightings forum.

I'm just gonna drop this comment here, as he is still traveling with me places and he's going with me this weekend after a day of work, but...

Studio Series Jazz is my favorite figure of the line so far, and it's looking like, barring some strange thing happening, he will be my figure of the year for this year. Heck, he's probably the most fun I've had with a movie figure recently, right up there just above Nitro Zeus, Thundercracker, and voyager Megatron form TLK and SS Grimlock.

But he's above those 4 as well.

Thanks to a heads up from some observant Seibertron fans, we have word that Wave 3 Deluxes of the Transformers Studio Series line have hit retail! This sighting comes to us from a Target in Los Angeles, California, and features the new VW Bumblebee figure that represents his new form in the upcoming Bumblebee movie. There were no signs of the Shadow Raider or Dark of the Moon Ratchet, but it can be safely assumed that they are now out on the shelves as well.

So go out and check out your local stores! You just might find some of the new Wave 3 deluxes to go along with the recent sightings of the Wave 3 voyager Ironhide!

Went to Cambridge to collect my phone at the phone shop after it had been repaired. Popped into The Entertainer. They got Studio Series wave 1 in today for first time. And with big price reductions.

Deluxe £16.80
Voyager £25.59
Leader £39.99

I wanted to buy Stinger but annoyingly while he was there when I first saw them, I decided to go to the phone shop to get my phone so I could take nice photos to share here, and by time I got back (half hour later). One...JUST ONE of the Transformers had been sold in that time. And who was it? Only frickin' Stinger! Goddammit.... So I bought Blackout cos it's nice to see Leader class at £39.99 like they used to be so very long ago and I ordered and paid for what they hope is a Stinger and will email me when it's in as I'm having to go to Cambridge again next week for yet another medical assessment. Whee.

Also they had the big movie Power Charge Bee and cyberverse thingies.

And Wave 3 of Tiny Turbos even though I never saw Wave 2 and that wave had the only figure I actually really want! Which be Squeeks!

Got ten of these figures now. :)
I also use some previous line figures too such as RotF Bludgeon, TLK Berserker, RotF Legends Ravage and such cos they fit in nicely with the scale (but just kept this photo pure Studio) :)

Still waiting for my VW Bee I ordered almost a month ago though. :(

He looks cool but i haven't really played about with him yet cos I got my first cold in like 8 years so trying to not get germs all over them. :P I'm happy I paid £40 rather tnan £50-£60 he usually sells for cos yay. He's taken the middle place of the collection where Grimlock used to be before i sold him cos pre-ordered the improved OS KO. Blackout does feel more like a 'true' leader figure in bulk and complexity though whereas Grimlock didn't to me.

I don't like how I have two voyager con's on the left but one voyager and a deluxe on the right. I'mma have to buy Brawl to even that out aren't I? :P Then Lockdown and (when i get him next week) Stinger can be one on each side of the autobots

oh and it's nice to have a 'legends' Scorponok. Never managed to get the original true legends figure of him so this figure with Blackout works very nicely and goes with my Legends RotF Ravage. :)
