Thanks to Seibertron stalwart Cyberpath we got some new shots of MP-44 Optimus Prime. Coming in the form of scans from Figure King magazine no. 251 via Loopaza Mega Store there are a lot of shots we've seen elsewhere, but there are a few notable ones. We've got some examples of Prime's articulation (thanks to another pose straight out of the movie), our first look at the Matrix inside Prime's chest, and the humans interacting with the trailer.

600$CAN plus taxes is completely absurd for a price. Bring it down to 300$CAN and I might consider it.

I still love that they say the damaged face plate is from that scene in the movie but it's not there in the animation

To those who are buying Prime, I salute you. He's too much for my budget though, despite how much I would like to transform him

I know its cartoon accurate, but I really hate the grey roller. The worst part is I expect a blue one to be with the "toy" version of this release late, too. Ughhh....

I do not like the cab mode, it just looks way too plain. Also Roller should not be grey.

I want this, but that price tag is disheartening. Hopefully it'll drop in price on a sale of something.

If you want it for cheaper, get it off amazon japan for 315$US shipped. It wont be cheaper later no matter how much BBTS might discount it from their 440$ price. 100$ off next black friday is still more expensive than getting it off amazon japan today.

Huh, guess I should have posted where I found these photos yesterday. Ah well. Anyway, I wish I could afford this, because it looks awesome.

On an unrelated side note, I am willing to trade my complete CW Ultra Magnus for a Hasbro Masterpiece Bluestreak. I just want one MP figure, and I guess Bluestreak might be the closest value to what I can trade for. PM me if you're interested.

Get a MP bumblebee. Most sites have him under $50 now and the G2 one is even cheaper and he’s worth it. I sold mine and regret it but I’m planning on getting the G2 one to stand next to my original G2 Bee I’ve miraculously lugged around for 26 years and stayed with me through 4 moves.

That is a good idea, I like it. The G2 version is pretty lovely. Unfortunately though, I am in a kind of position where I cannot spend money on one, so right now, I can only trade. Your suggestion us really good though, thanks for sharing ;)

You can post pic after pic after pic ... you can show me all the accessories ... you can do whatever you want - I STILL CAN'T AFFORD IT, and there is no amount of "convincing" or "asking me if I'm still on the fence about it" that is going to change the fact that it's out of my price range.

Same for me. But I dont actually like it enough anyway. That bare bones deco in alt mode (especially with the trailer) is a rather big turn off.

Appart the price, my main reason to skip on this is that I already have both MP-01 and MP-10. So that MP Optimus 3.0 is getting redundant. I may have triple-dipped if he was the same price as MP-10. But 600 freaking dollars? Oh HELL no. That money would go for a Dollfie Dream instead. Because at least, that's a thing I don't already have.

Well I just saw that In Demand toys are sold out of their MP-44 Prime pre-orders, at £320... Outrageous. I know it could be perceived as hypocritical of me to decry the price meanwhile paying £230 for MP Beast Wars Megatron. The main difference is there is no other BW Megatron figures in the line to choose from. Plus I know he is the biggest figure in BW Season One, so the ceiling in terms of price. But the Prime fetish has certainly reached its apex here.

Besides, how can MP-44 be the most cartoon accurate ever? He isn't Grey...

Slightly off topic, but that was my issue with MP-40 Hot Rodimus. When I transformed him, I was expecting one more concertina fold on his torso to close him up.

Not to mention the red pieces on the back of his shoulders that shouldn't be there that stand out like sore thumbs in front of his yellow back shield crest thingee.

A bunch of different set-ups for the trailer.

Hitch section looks a bit messy, but not as bad as I first thought. I suppose that’s the trade-off... do you want a hitch section that’s neat but way too high (like MP10 and those 3rd party ones), or messy and low?

This much "hollow mess" is pretty forgivable considering that usually, it's way emptier than that on a real truck.

We are still getting new images from the Winter Wonder Festival taking place in Japan right now. While the new reveals are getting all the attention, other toys we know are coming but aren't out yet were also present. Like the very divisive Masterpiece MP-44 Optimus Prime Ver 3.0. We had images of the back of the vehicle in colour, which is something we had not seen yet. Grey model images showed the back of the cab as a mess of parts but you will let us know if it looks more uniform in colour.

This toy will be coming out in the US and Japan at the same time later this year for around $440 USD. Hasbro's release will be identical in every way, including Prime speaking Japanese, but it will have a slip cover with english on it so that it can be distributed in the US. You can get a look at a previous slip cover here to get a sense of what that will look like.

These images come from Gamerlingual and @N_A_M_E_.

The more i see of him the more i like him. Hopefully we will also get an Ironhide/Ratchet version 2.0, the current mold looks horrible. They are just too lanky and the panels on the waist plus the back - it all just looks like a mess.

MPs go on sale routinely? I doubt this guy will be able to get for cheaper than the $320 you can get him for right now on Amazon Japan.

Agreed. I would suggest you jump on the Amazon JP option now. You still have the option of cancelling it up until close to the release date.

If by sale you mean "being sold in the UK" your best bet is import sites as Tru was the only one to sell Masterpieces. If you mean reduced prices...good luck with that... Will is right, amazon jp is the best option here.

Yeah I use Kapow toys personally, would never rely on TRU or other physical stores.

The more niche masterpieces (typically repaints) do tend to end up on sale. I guess price for MP 44 will mean lower stock will be reserved by the importers and it is less likely to go on sale. Never know though, might be surprised if people decide against shelling out so much £££ for a new version of a done to death character.

I dont think I should consider ordering through Amazon Japan at the moment because EU has free trade deal with Japan.. when Brexit happens all the packages from Japan will presumably be subject to import tax again so slaps another 20% on top of the price.. definitely not something I am willing to stomach.

Yeah, you'd think, but so far there is only evidence against it. People are still calling foul for a $50 Optimus G1 cab and yet at the same time people are trying to find one. Same with all those G1 bees sold on e-bay for $20. There was diselief at the price of MP Megatron and MP BW Dinobot followed by both toys selling out Dinobot selling for a freakish amount on the secondary market. And what about Siege Shockwave who is being atacked with torches and pitchforks for being a leader price? That toy is hard to find too since a bunch of fans nabbed him. And now we have Optimus Prime, the main character of the franchise, if only a small bit of fans who know him want him that will still be a bunch of sales.

If those expensive statues have a market, then a $400 fully transforming toy does too.

Yes i agree.. its whh im not holding out hope of getting a discount. Ill potentially see what the importers put it on at and then see how i am feeling.

Does anyone think that there will be a high-quality 3rd-party reproduction of MP-44?

I picked up the Infinite Transformations E.O.D. copy of MP-36 and I am really happy with it. It was $80 shipped on eBay, which was justifiable to my budget (the $250 for MP-36 was not). With MP-44 going for $350-$450, I'm back in the same boat in even deeper water.

Further, does anyone know what kind of timeline is typical for the 3rd-party copies to appear after the Masterpiece release.

Sorry if this upsets anyone who are Takara purists and don't like aftermarket rips. It just is what it is, my wallet isn't as fat as I'd like.

Disdain for this kind of behaviour is nothing to do with being a Takara purist, and everything to do with respect for the law.

I can’t afford a Ferrari, but that doesn’t justify me stealing one!!!
