Am confused. We already have Ratchet and he's a Deluxe and he's a tall Deluxe, same height as Lockdown and bigger than Bee and Jazz.
Ironhide being listed as voyager? Maybe cos he's got more bulk? And big cannons?

He isnt a tall deluxe, he is just the same height as the average deluxe. Him being bigger than the two smalleest deluxes of all time doesnt make him tall.
Now Animated and ROTF Lockdown and Battle Blade Bee, those are tall deluxes.

Those are very old figures now. You cannot compare those figures size to more recent figures. Hasbro pretty much have been changing the size definitions over the years. So much so that a 2014 Movie Advanced re-deco of 2010 Battle Blade Bee was classed as Voyager. Ratchet and Lockdown ARE tall deluxes in the Studio scale in that they are the tallest of the Deluxes (that I own anyways). Those figures you mention are not part of this series and so do not count.

That still doest make Ratchet a tall deluxe. He isnt bigger than a combiner wars deluxe. He's just normal size. And I can compare what I want as I please, you are not the boss of me

Yeah. It's funny, I compared SS Stinger with BBBB and Bee is like twice the size of Stinger. Though I will say I like the Stinger mold enough I'd take a reshell of him as AOE Bee.
Seeing as you mention Lockdown I'm still not sure if I want the ROTF version or some variant of the Animated mold (I'm thinking TAV). Animated Lockdown goes fairly cheap, but dear lord ROTF Lockdown looks awesome.

He's taller than a lot of movie Deluxes over the past few years. Various Bumblebees, TLK Barricade, and I tried measuring him (and Lockdown) with some other figures i still own such as some past movie Deluxes like DotM Barricade, Sidearms Sideswipe (whom i always felt was a bit tall) and that was roughly same height, and some non-movie Deluxe figures like RTS Tracks (Ratchet is a tad taller), and Wolfwire (again Ratchet is noticably taller) but again none of that means anything to the Studio scale in which Ratchet and Lockdown are the tallest Deluxes (that I can compare as I don't have Stinger and Crowbar) with Jazz being by far the smallest. That's what my original point and comparison was. I dunno why all the arguing when I thought we'd all gotten the idea of the scale thing Hasbro were going with here and how they are fitting certain characters into classes and the factors involving scale, cost, amount of parts, mass of plastics, paintjobs and such. That's way it looks to me anyways but I don't know anything really.

That is true. I wonder now if Brawl and Ratchet are place holders. (Since we already got Ratch, but you know how hasbro loves to give us too much of a good thing sometimes.)

As for other figures, I hope one of the future Deluxes is Sideswipe, mainly because my ROTF Deluxe is beginning to show its age with worn away paint and creaky joints. Also, I doubt it will happen, but I would LOVE a Deluxe Arcee comprised of three motorcycles that combine into a single robot based on the old concept art.

I prefer the 2007 Arcee figure (though she doesn't fit in Studio scale, heck she didn't fir in her own 2007 toyline scalewise not that they tried so hard with that. Only reason I haven't culled her is that I simply just love the design of her far too much to want to part with it) over the weird triplet wonky wheelbots from RotF but I'm game to see them attempt that combining thing just to see if they can pull it off.
Anyways me off to bed. Have only had about 30 mins sleep in past couple days and even that was on the floor behind my recliner (why not on the recliner? I don't know... i didn't choose the sleeping place) and my issues been going crazy (is why i been trying to distract with lots of transformers stuffs). Goodnight, folks.

Stinger. Figure. Is ok it could be. Better in studio series still looks to much like repaint of bumblebee Figure. Should change transformation and weapons on stinger. Figure to make it look less like repaint of bumblebee. Figure

Hum.... It's not that easy, dude. Ironhide had 3 voyagers, notably the DOTM who is in perfect scale with deluxe cars and even SS Optimus. However, Ratchet only have ONE voyager mold. The 2007 version. And it's freaking HUGE. It can only scale with Leader ROTF Optimus.

The only ones I can find are expensive or broken. (or the shipping costs a lot more than it should)
Instead of hasbro giving us two deluxes they should give us a voyager instead. Duh.

They should have made a DOTM voyager ratchet instead of double-dipping by making a lame-ass voyager Sentinel Prime when there already was a leader. DUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRR.....
Seriously. They remade a great Ironhide so why his bro wasn't there?

After looking at reviews, I highly reccomend either of the two.
Peru Kill from Unique Toys is obviously more expensive so if you have a low budget then get the hastak one

Deluxe Ratchet coming up again makes sense, though, as it could just be his Dark of the Moon deco. We've been speculating that Hasbro and Takara are releasing a repaint of Voyager Starscream with his Revenge of the Fallen deco, so why not do the same with Ratchet? Gotta get the most out of those molds!
Voyager Ironhide gives me a bit of pause. Seriously, Studio Series Optimus Prime is already a fairly small voyager figure, and to retain robot mode scale, Ironhide will have to be an even smaller voyager. I'm talking small like Studio Series Jazz is the tiniest deluxe figure we've ever had small. Maybe that would mean that Ironhide would come with an extensive paint job to compensate, like Jazz, or maybe just a whole cashe of weapons and accessories to justify the $30.00 USD price tag.

But even in the movie, that's what stinger was, he was to bumblebee what galvatron was to prime. So it makes sense for stinger to be a repaint of bee as he was never anyone else to begin with.
I'm sorry wreckerjack but a voyager rachet would be out of scale with what they are going for here in the ss series. Actually tell a lie, for a voyager to work they would have to find a way for the bigger vehicle to condense to make for a smaller robot mode so he's shorter than prime (going from that chart) obviously the designers felt it could be better achieved by making him deluxe scale.

Of the 4 I have, Ratchet and Bee are painful because of the size. Grimlock is large like he should be and Thundercracker is awesome. But the former 2 are in dire need of an upscale

Crazy idea, but considering that it appears starscream will be in the bumblebee movie, also the fact that it’s now a reboot, but could megatron be in it as well in one from or another? Didn’t we get a listing for him in the new allspark style line for the movie? (Forgot what they’re called)

No they're really not. Bee especially is pretty much the ideal size his previous toys should have been in my opinion. Especially compared to supposed 'deluxe battle blade bee' which was far too large.
ZeroWolf wrote:So am I the only one who is fine with how things are? I think it's comendable that they are even sticking to a scale (and there's no telling that they may do a larger scale a couple of years down the line)
No, the Studio scale works great for me for many reasons such as shelf size and cost reasons too.
Sabrblade wrote:What would have been preferable would be for them to have resurrected the old Supreme class and used that for Blackout and Grimlock so that Megatron and Starscream could be small Leaders, Brawl a large Voyager, Optimus a modest-sized Voyager, Ratchet and Lockdown very small Voyagers, and every other Deluxe just a hair larger than their current sizes.
God no. I could barely even afford one Leader class figure, never mind Supreme... And what retailers would even stock it? The current Leaders have far less retailers than the smaller figures it seems.
Ironhide needs to be a bit taller than Ratchet (since Ratchet is 20 feet and Ironhide is 22 feet) and generally bulkier and have his huge cannons (but then Lockdown and Nitro Zeus are supposely 22 feet as well so it's already a lil confusing but not too bad). Wonder how the AoE and TLK Hounds scale cos i don't own those but he's 24 feet i think
My Megatron is a-coming todaaaay!
By the way how would a Grindor retool of Blackout even happen when Grindor is so much larger than Blackout?

Been pretty busy this evening with stuffs such as having to set up a youtube for my drama group to upload stuff to and haven't had time to sit down properly with Megatron to transform him. Will do after dinner. He's certainly fun to play with in robot mode.
For some reason I had him posed like a guest on a chat show while I sorted out the youtube stuffs.

So here is a nice group shot of figures I have from all 5 movies and the SS line, chosen at random that are currently displayed in robot mode, all lined up to show the robot mode scaling. And it shows that SS Ratchet is still too small compared to DotM Ironhide, a figure cursed by being in the cheapest movie line in terms of individual figures (right around FoC toys too, when we got tiny toys for the size classes).
I'm also still frustrated by how small Bee is, and by extent the soon to come out Jazz. Look at how he is a whole head shorter than AOE Bee!

Lockdown has an insane amount of detail especially for a Deluxe figure. And despite not being as tall as Prime he's certainly bulky enough and well proportioned enough that he looks like he can take him on. Wish my photo skills could do justice to the figures but here's a slightly blurry shot anyways.
Also thanks muchly to Munkky for the spare Ratchet & Bee backdrop cards. They just arrived a few minutes ago and were better packaged than some of the actual full on boxed Transformers I've ordered in past year or so Giving one of those to DotM Barricade (that I'm using at least until the possiblity of an actual Studio figure is made) and haven't decided which figure to use on the other. Will need some voyager backdrops at some point too cos I want one for my custom RotF Bludgeon.

Looking at the figures included that came from AoE and TLK, and even many of the DotM figures, all scale well with each other, even if the DotM felt a bit chinsier. The Studio series line could EASILY have kept that scale and thus made the new modern versions of movie 1, 2, and 3 characters in scale with the new post DotM guys.
So by extent, you could have had every character from movies 4 and 5 line up with the new toys from 1, 2, and 3, thus making a perfect shelf across the whole movie board. And we have the proper robot mode scale for pretty much everyone save Slug and Strafe (and even Strafe is debatable), so it would not have been that much of a stretch. It could have been perfect!
Carnivius_Prime wrote:Studio is it's OWN scale. It's a movie line where all the figures are intentionally designed to try and be in scale with each other as best as can be allowed given budget and other reasons. Previous movie lines did not have this focus. Characters were simply placed into whichever class their a toy could be made for and the toy was made best to fit that particular budget class and that's why you got multiple size versions of the same character in the same line, (for example in Dark of the Moon there is Ironhide in Deluxe, Voyager AND Leader class all at the same time). If previous movie figures fit into Studio scale it is by chance, not by design (especially since the size classes have all actually changed physical sizes and costs in the past 11 years since the first movie line). In this scale Optimus Prime and Megatron are NOT Leader class. They are Voyager so that photo having the Leader class figures is way off anyways.
The only voyager Primes I own are the Evasion and TLK ones, and I did not grab the TLK one since I had a TLK voyager in there already.
But see my above comments, AOE and TLK were all in scale with one another save pretty much Slug and the non-movie dinobots, this was a perfect chance to continue that scale, but instead they fudged it all up and went smaller for many of these guys.
As a movie lover, it's a hard pill to swallow spending $22 on Jazz or Bee, and Ratchet should have been a voyager. The fact that he keeps getting deluxe toys infuriates me to no end.
