Indeed. But at least he's closer to original G1 colouring than Starscream was.

That said, I'm not trying to take anything away from those true to the G1 colorings. Hang in there guys, as always the repaint is just around the corner. LOL

I think the plain looking alt mode is kinda nice. As long as he still has some purple in bot mode.

An excellent balance was struck here.
Now, if only the grimacing face was improved...

An actual F-15 is 1944 centimeters long, or 63.8 feet. I poked around the web and found this toy is 13 inches long. That's a scale of about 1/59 scale! Of course Starscream was usually depicted as standing merely about 30 feet tall in the TV series.

Considering their color choice for Starscream, Thundercracker will probably be white with red and blue.

Thundercracker might be painted like a blue angle fighter. That would be the only way to make it look real and keep the Blue color.

The 'bot mode is 1/24 scale. Mass shifting lives on.
I really like the look of Skywarp so far. Already a much better colour scheme than MP Starscream.

My bet is that Thundercracker will be in a dull upper grey, lower blue scheme like a modern navy aircraft would have(not that the F15 is one of those).
Hasbro needs to start selling this mold at a cheaper price and in anime colours and they'll clean up - I'd buy all three(or all six if they're up for some conehead retool shenanigans).
I'm not touching this mold 'till that happens.

I agree. I don't like the white spots.
I am sure that they will include purple stickers to jazz him up. I just hope the stickers are not the clear type because they will be very noticeable on black.

Yahtzee! Another no go for me. People are freaking frothing at the mouth for toon accurate versions. So why the Hell are they doing this instead?!
Come on Hasbro. Lately you seem to be pretty on the ball with things. Lets see some actual good paint schemes compared to your Japanese partner.

I believe those white spots are "No Step" stickers to give it a realistic scheme. Unfortunetly the sticker material is rectangle and sticks out on darker colors.

Wow you accomplished so much.
Skywarp looks about right for jet mode. The original jet mode didn't have much purple aside from the tail fins.
At the least you can just paint his tailfins purple and add some reprolabels and have an old toy accurate jet:

And hasbro bringing this over? They wouldn't even release all the jets at $10 retail in the classics line. I'm not going to hold my breath to get them to bring over MP seekers other than starscream.
I'll still wait for better bot mode pics to decide whether I'll get this figure, but it looks pretty good so far.

American fans are "freaking frothing at the mouth" for cartoon accurate versions. That's what Hasbro is doing since, well, it's selling in America.
Many Japanese fans want the realistic color scheme. That's what TakaraTomy is doing since, well, it's selling in Japan.
See the difference?

Good news--that scan has text that says a new mold of the face is being made for it.

There is purple and silver on the wings of the original figure too, which is what this one needs.

I'm a toon accurate person myself, but there's a point where it's close enough. So far this isn't anywhere close to the wackiness that was MP Starscream.
And in defense of toon people like myself, the MP line set itself up as toon accurate with MP Prime, then switched over to a sort of alternators type line. Screamer was disappointing, but so far skywarp doesn't look nearly as bad.

I see it as a what-could-have-been look for Skywarp if he was in the film as well as classically designed.

Part of the reason for the change is the critique Takara received from its customer base on MP-1 Convoy's unrealistic alt mode. For its customer base, cartoon "accuracy" has to be more balanced with realism. We're seeing the result in the last two molds. Of course, Takara overcorrected (or miscorrected) in MP-2 Starscream, and both molds still have their share of unrealistic points (MP-5 Megatron's size), but the designs of the last two molds were directly affected by the feedback on the first one.
