Time has passed since then, and we are still unsure they were canceled, but thanks to a batch of production samples coming from China, Seibertron.com now presents to you the Transformers "that never were". You can view the galleries for the previously unreleased Backtrack, Gunbarrel, and Reverb. These figures were meant to be the last wave of Target Exclusive Movie Scouts. Apparently these are overstock intended for the Mexican marketplace and have recently become available.

Anyway great galleries.

These three don't look very movie-ish to me. Maybe we might see them in Generations or Power Combiners?

Anyway great galleries.
There'll be some shots of them with the "Combaticon" molds soon enough. I just wanted to get these galleries up ASAP since I've been working on the galleries for these, the rest of the movie scouts, the tfu/rotf Superion and Bruticus sets since April 23rd. Here's a teaser of things to come ...
Basically, these three figures gave me reason to do 32 other galleries that I hadn't planned on doing for quite some time. It's funny how things work out like this.
I wonder what will give me reason to do the rest of the Real Gear galleries one day???

These are not new molds, and they are not movie molds. They are in fact and were already when they were supposed to be released, old molds. They come from the Energon/Superlink line.
They are 2 of the Bruticus Combiner parts.
Besides the molds where eventually released again for ROTF, in the form of the ROTF Bruticus gift set.

But that is some great silver plastic on Backtrack! Why can't Hasbro stick with a formula they've done before, one they know looks good? It's so weird to me how the silver varies so much from figure to figure, some are almost white, others are kind of brownish, some even almost blue.
Looking forward to the rest of the combiner galleries!

Yeah, and then Barracade as a Deluxe torso part, and we'd have gotten a mix matched combiner? That;s just what my thought was, but we probably had these guys cancelled when Superion and Bruticus were decided to be rereleased.

They probably wanted give us a really mixed combiner for the Allspark Line.
It would have been interesting to get these 2 molds from Bruticus, the 2 planes from Superion, and then just to mix it up the core from Constructicon Maximus/Devastator.
That would have been an interesting set, in completely random color schemes.

One problem though: no instructions?

Where would the deluxe-sized torso end up though?
Anybody remember how some Energon limbs and torsos were re-released in Universe (1.0) for discount chains? No mention of any combining ability what-so-ever.

D'oh . I'm liking these GoBot homages. Wish they would have released it, but then again I may not have been into the homages at the time, and might not have bought it. Moot point now though.

Yeah, the Gobots need a bit more love. Me thinks there's a Gobot enthusiast on the Hasbro design team, would he please step forward?

Jetstorm9221 wrote:I'm mexican and I would like to ask if these guys were ever released in Mexico or were just intended?
As far as I know they weren't released anywhere.
But I have seen the ROTF Superion, and Bruticus gift sets in Mexico. Mainly "Sears" though at really high markups. $1000.00 pesos if I'm not mistaken for whatever reason. (for those playing along in English that's about $80 US)
So you can get the tank and helicopter molds. The Bike mold haven't seen one since Cybertron anywhere sorry.

Thank you, so far, I've only seen the Superion gift set (at 20% discount $800.00) but nothing about the Bruticus gift set, was it released at the same time as the Superion one or later?
