Keeping in the spirit of BotCon we're pleased to announce two "blast from the past" galleries have been added to the Seibertron.com toy galleries, BotCon 1994 G2 Breakdown and BotCon 2004 Action Master G2 Breakdown!

Most are familiar with 1994's BotCon exclusive G2 Breakdown, it was the first convention exclusive ever. A simple repaint of G1 Breakdown in his G2 theme. BotCon 2004 Action Master G2 Breakdown on the other hand is little less known. The figure, which is a reuse of the Action Master Sideswipe figure with new head and weapons, is not an official Hasbro product, because BotCon 2005 was not an official convention. The official convention back in 2004 was OTFCC (Official Transformers Collectors' Convention), which had it's own exclusives, Universe Megazarak and Universe Sentinel Maximus.

Special thanks to Badman Forever for hooking Seibertron.com up with the elusive BotCon 1994 G2 Breakdown!

There it is, your "Big Point of Discussion". Captain Smartass, away! 8-}

They are a pretty big piece of BotCon/Transformers product history. Fascinating. :-B

Wow. Thanks for these galleries, Ryan! :APPLAUSE:

Incredible pieces of TF history. Although I don't consider myself a MISB nut of a collector, I can't imagine the heart attack I'd have had if I'd opened either one of these to photograph, let alone display. Did you actually open them, or did you have loose ones to photograph?

The BotCon 2004 Action Master G2 Breakdown was already opened, but I did apply the stickers and "fix" the figure after discovering that it was falling apart when I took it out of the package for the first time.

The BotCon 1994 G2 Breakdown was sealed. I opened him up for the first time just for these galleries. The last picture in his gallery shows that I was able to keep the package for proper display purposes if desired, but it is definitely opened now.

I'm all about the galleries. I'm not one to keep a figure sealed just for the sake of having it sealed. If I didn't do these galleries, than I'd probably be singing a different tune, but my primary purpose with my collection is to make these galleries for Seibertron.com.

Not denying that, they're special on their own merits aside from being mere BotCon exclusives. :)

G2 Breakdown was initially canceled, but he was still chosen as the first BotCon exclusive. I wonder what lead the Hartmans into choosing Breakdown for their first convention, and not one of the other Stunticons or Protectobots? Is there favoritism involved?

BotCon 2004 Action Master Breakdown may be a "Third Party" item (as in not sanctioned by Hasbro), but considering his status and creation, he may be the most "official" US one out of the whole lot. Would anybody consider him truly "official"?

I'm glad you liberated the '94 one from his plastic prison. I know it's a rare figure, but I think having you open it and photograph it and allow everyone to enjoy the awesome pictures is better than having it remain sealed and sitting in some collector's home where it will never be seen by anyone else.

Well I applaud you. I doubt I'll ever seen one live, so this is the next best thing. I just wonder how many more of these there are that have been left unopened.

I did get lucky enough a couple of years ago to purchase a Nightracer figure from Botcon '95, but as far as I was aware, the bag had previously been opened. Maybe it hadn't...either way, I got it to enjoy and display not sit in a dark storage area. Even so, I still got really apprehensive about opening it the first time.

It was a pleasure dealing with you Ryan and getting to meet you at Botcon last year. I still can't believe the '94 G2 Breakdown was sealed in my closet for so many years and now you get to give it a breath of fresh air w/ high-res glamour shots! The story of you finding my old online post on this item from like 5-6 years ago to track this down is unheard of. Let me know if there is anything else you are looking for.. I may just have it. Cya!
