Also included are some designs for repair/launching bay play sets (not unlike Optimus Prime's original trailer) from way back in Diaclone Car Robot. We also see early designs for "Erasers" that we're apparently never used. Depicted are Bumblebee, Starscream, Grimlock and Rumble. Check all the designs out below!

We did, way back in '85.
I feel like we got a better Octane figure in the end. It is interesting that they were originally going for a commercial airliner rather than a fueling jet, but I think they made the right decision in the end.

We definitely got a better head sculpt out of it. The only real difference between the tablet and the robot modes we got are the fuel tanks on the side, the shoulder cannons (always sad when those get cut), and the arms. The rest is pretty much there. It even looks like the tanker trailer clearly splits to make wings. The robot weapon even has his tail fin gun.

One day I got "lost in my head" playing with them and some dinosaur erasers I would pretend were Dinobots. Like Calvin (as in Calvin & Hobbes) the outside world would totally disappear.
Anywho...I was locked in an epic battle between the forces of good and evil when suddenly I became aware of an unusual silence. When I snapped out of it I looked around and the other kids in my 5th grade class were giggling. I was like what the hell is so funny? Then I looked at my teacher who was staring right at me repeating the phrase "Who's winning"? My face lit up like a red neon sign at Target and I held up my Optimus pencil topper and said "This guy".
Luckily I had ( and still do) a reputation for being a weirdo artist who gets lost in his imagination so I didn't get in trouble and my teacher didn't take my "school supplies".
Hey...shout out if you remember these weird transforming pens! Mine was gray and black. The ink ran out pretty quick but not before it got me in trouble.

In the 80s they had robot erasers that actually partsformed into a car. I actually have one but no way to show it since photobucket initiated its own eventual demise. I tried to find pics online but I never knew the name of the product. The teacher took it from some kid and I snatched it from her desk back in elementary school. Pretty cool for an eraser, I never used it cause it was so cool.
