Michael gave some hints on the upcoming third installment of the movie during the interview:
"Although the number of robots increased significantly from the first film for the second, the third film -- which will hit theaters this summer, won’t be as robot-heavy and there will be fewer explosions, a tight-lipped Bay said after the Q+A.
“There will be a nice crescendo ending,” Bay said. “It gets much more into the robot character. The last time you kind of met a few of the robots; this time you’re gonna get a much cooler landscape.”

bullsh*t. Michael Bay can never tone down the explosions in his films.

So you want a Transformers movie with no explosions at all?
I think Bay actually listens to feedback and learns from his mistakes. I think TF3 will be great. Especially with the new writer.

Hey, where did I say I wanted no explosions? I was quoting what MB said and was pointing out that there is no way he would tone down the explosions.
Another thing worth noting is when he says
.which will hit theaters this summer
Did he get the year wrong? I thought it was out next year.

Bay: "But I thought evreybody LOVED the leg humping robot."
I will put it this way...Wheelie not having a high squeeky voice and a diolog that always comes out in rhyme = win to me...even if he is a perverted little leg humper.

What he means on less robots is proabably what he done with the Kitchen Bots and such as seen in Revenge he probably means that they proabably wont be more crap like that in it.
So it seems like TF 3 will be alot of it in on Cybertron but what is the story about such as the plot device of the film.
Look I am ok with shrinking the number of the roster but not to much maybe 10 Autobots and 15 Decipticons would be cool along with 1 or 2 combiners and a Triple Changer such as Blitzwing, Astro Train or Springer.
But we need Ultramagnus, Hot Rod, Thundercracker, Lazerbeak, Shockwave, Tidal Wave, Hound, Mirage, Sunstreaker, Trail Breaker, Prowl, Wheel Jack, Cyclonus, Scourge, Perciptor as long as any of these old-school G1's are in TF 3 that is prime with me I just want a good conclusion in TF 3.
What needs to be fixed for TF 3:
1. No More Loop Holes
2. Bring the Transformers Home Eventually
3. Bring closure to the Sam/Mikalea Story
4. Newer bots & New Transformations
5. Classis = Better = G1
6. One Gigantic Final Battle to end All Battles if this is the End
7. Who survives & who Dies which one makes the Ultimate Sacrifice
8. Which bots choose to stay on Earth and which ones go back to Cybertron

This is interesting, it looks like the great mr. Bay somehow listened to the worldwide feedback.
Avatar is doing pretty good in theaters, it's a great movie with also full cg fantasy creatures.
Fantasy/sci fi movies don't need extreme gore (mechanical :p) etc. to be a commercial success.
My hopes are up for TF3, this time I won't have expectations which I had before seeing TF2.
Megan's also gonna star as Aspen Matthews (Fathom), isn't that a character with substance?
Can she do it?

FINALLY! ROTF was nothing compared to movie one, I hope Mr.Bay can pull off another good movie.
Just please, NO Unicron....

Focus on the cool bots like Ratchet, Sideswipe, Arcee and Jolt. Leave the twins and Ironhide (you heard me) in the background.
Prowl, looking like his Defiance self.
No Leo Spitz. Where was Anthony Anderson? He was great in the first film?
Since the twins can instantly reformat, have them reformat proper TF heads and not the robo-Jar Jar Binks heads.
Throw something in that explains/resolves the Jetfire backstory mess.
Once again, NO LEO SPITZ!!!

Fighting Unicron!!!
Just cause Bay said there would be less explosions doesn't mean we wont see them... Technically there may be less real explosions but he can use CGI to make explosions. I read a while back that Bay said he would use alot more scenes like in ROTF when Megatron went to Mars and talked with Starscream and the Fallen... that was completely CGI.
Plus, it will be time for Unicron to get used again and another toy manufactured! Possibly needs to be used again for copyright reasons or something, I dunno...
I know alot of you are completely against Unicron being used but, the movie has to be set on a larger scale... 1st movie took place in various place in the U.S.... 2nd movie took place in various places around the earth... the 3rd obviously needs to take place in space and other planets possibly just cause typically you go bigger in sequels... in my opinion you do.
Of course Unicron doesn't have to be a planet-eater... he could be something else. Cybertron toy line made him a tank... not that I liked it one bit. But you see what I'm saying, he's not limited to being a huge looking planet, though I'm interested in seeing what a Bayformer Unicron planet would look like transformed
Plus Megatron sustained extensive damage and it would be a good time to get reformatted into Galvatron!

Please be Cybertron.
Less robots COULD mean more development for the robots that are featured instead of random anonymous robots all over the place.
I'll hold out hope til I see it. Either way, once it's done we'll have a complete trilogy and can put this whole live action craze behind us.
Posted by Autobot032 on January 15th, 2010 @ 4:23pm CST
TF1 was as deep as a puddle, but we did learn that Bumblebee was the plucky hero, Optimus really has a heart of gold, Ironhide's tough as nails, and Ratchet is socially, and pretty much in every way, inept. (Jazz was throwaway, I don't even count him anymore.)
It too didn't have a lot of explosions.
So, if we have less robots, more story behind them...isn't it safe to at least assume that we might end up with another TF1?
Sure, TF2 was even more shallow than the first film, when it came to the characters, but the difference was that it was exciting. It had a story (even if the characters were one dimensional), and the explosions worked.
I can't say that for TF1, and I'm hoping 3 doesn't go down the same path.

This guy doesn't know how to make movies. He said ROTF would have a lot more robots with more lines, NOT. I don't know why so many people love TF2. The special effects were NOT as good as the first film. And I can't believe Hasbro never says anything about their name looking so bad because of the films. Don't they ever say, uh, Mr. Spielberg, really? You're going to let Michael Bay crap all over our name and your name?
Don't get your hopes up about this film, and cybertron being in it. That's not what he ment. Michael Bay was not born to make TransFormers. If you have the heart to do it, anybody can direct a film. I just wish TransFormers 2 was good, but really, does Bay crap in the toilet and say, "Hey Skids and Mudflap." And there they are...born. And when he reads a script, does he think, "How can I make this really bad?...I know, I'll crap on it and smear my crap on every page...perfect...and action!"
ugh,

I have a few ideas!
Extend both Jolt and Ratchet's roles - They had so little screen time. Jolt needs some lines, as well. Give him some good lines and develop his character. (Ratchet was even more underused in #2! As if his role was short enough in #1!)
Sideswipe - One word; MORE!
Give Soundwave a decent amount of action - As awesome as he was, he was missing out on the action, below! (I bet he was seething.) And bring him to Earth, too.
Unicron - Enough said.
The basic story could be that the Decepticons are really pissed because of their second defeat. As it happens, Unicron is approaching; Megatron makes a deal with Unicron and Soundwave tells Unicron of the humans' dependence on everything electronic. Soundwave then disables everything on Earth (as his toy bio suggests) and bring the continents to a standstill; global disruption (think 'Live Free or Die Hard', but bigger), so that Unicron can make an easy meal of Earth. The only thing standing in their way is a dedicated team of Autobots, as they try to get everything back up and running (hence, Jolt's potentially enlarged role becomes instant).
And, if Soundwave is to be involved with action, you could have a way of destroying his vocal processors and have Scalpel crudely replace them so that he'll sound a lot more like his G1 counterpart. Plus, there could be a an interesting way to enlarge Ratchet's role; make him the primary target in battle, seeing as he is the medic (the Decepticons must realize that in order for Autobots to stop returning, they must *disable* their means of returning! I'm not a military strategist, but even I know that! )
And then you have a basic underlying structure which would be centered around 'opposites':
Introduce Prowl - in his police car, he'd be a match for Barricade and it'd clear up Barricade's role.
Introduce Nemesis Prime - Optimus' evil twin (so I believe) and stick him in a Kenworth Truck; I have a photo of a sweet Kenworth cab and it looks so deliciously evil. Perfect match for Optimus.
Soundwave's Earth form - Possibly an F-35; basically an F-22 that hovers (if you know your Lockheed Martins), so he'd be a direct negative to Starscream (seeing as how Starscream is very deceptive behind Megatron's back and Soundwave is one of his most loyal soldiers).
Thoughts...?
(And on the subject of an aforementioned character, I wrote a little Transformers fan-fiction story inspired by the show 'Ice Road Truckers'. If it was in a movie, I think it'd be cool to use it as a prologue. Anyone interested to have a read...? )

Ugh. I'm willing to bet it's going to be even more human centric. Maybe a whole hour or more of nothing but irritating humans and embarrassing scenes. I have a feeling TF3 is going to suck more then the other two combined.

DavidT wrote:I think the reason we didn't see much of Jolt is because the Chevy Volt was GM's new baby to show off and they ended up going under during the making of ROTF... therefore they decided to cut scenes to a minimum for him, cause it was pretty pointless to promote him anymore. Of course he played a big role in the combing of Jetfire and Optimus so he couldn't be cut from the movie totally. If I'm wrong please tell me... that just seems to be what happened.
.
Maybe, but my point is; the characters (sans Optimus and Bumblebee) are treated like drones, not actual characters. If they were human, there would be questions asked about 'why didn't we see more of them?' 'why bring a completely new character in for a minute of screen-time?' etc...
Also, when it comes to the transformations themselves, Ratchet and Jolt (for instance) need a full transformation sequence to themselves. Am I the only one who thinks that Ratchet should've been in the beginning of ROTF with Ironhide? (That encircling transformation could've included both; the 'I smell him' quip would've made more sense if Ratchet said it.)
(And if the transformers *were* human, you might as well stick Ratchet, Jolt and such on the list marked 'extras', because that's all they are at the moment...pretty sad, considering how much cooler they could be and how sweet they look).
I'll get off my soap-box now...

The biggest problem: Agreeing.
But believing Michael Bay will make Transformers 3 better than either of the first two, which so far set a precedent for getting progressively worse, is what you call wishful thinking. We'd all like to hope, but guess who's making the decisions? Him and his minions, not us.

Movie 1: Didnt have enough Robots.
Movie 2: Had too many robots and not enough character development.
For the third movie I think the only amount we're getting maybe 14, thats assuming if they are planning on killing off some characters.
Overall though I do want the third movie to be the last of the series.

So if 5 for A-bots & 5 for D-cons would generally make about 10 all together. I can live with that, I just hope somewhere in this movie another strike dosnt occour.
