Oh yeah probably is. Just saw the movie and I thought it was great. Made me feel like the first one did when I saw it. Like my childhood nostalgia came back and got some new great memories to add with it. And Megatron looks great on the big screen, aside from the face damage. Too bad he died though, always was my favorite.

Anyway, this is definite 100% pure awesome. Megatron couldn't look more evil.

Yesterday Josh Nizzi treated us with a teaser of Megatron, and said there would be more to come this weekend. Now he's uploaded a full gallery of his work, which can be viewed by clicking here. Here's a sampling of what can be seen.
Warren Manser has followed suit, and posted a gallery of his work that can be viewed here. Again here are a few examples of what can be found in his gallery.

Did you see DOTM yet?
Lazerbeak transforms into a pink version of Bumblebee, and plays with an extremely minor character's daughter so he can get into that character's house. He does it in order to kill the little girl's father, who was apparently working with the Decepticons. All of this was per order of Soundwave.

DUDE!!! SPOILERS!!
My kids and I haven't seen the movie yet (we are going tonight) and while I may not be as concerned about such things, my 12 year old sometimes browses this site and I don't want anything ruined for him. I don't live with my kids and therefore can't monitor what he's checking out on here.
Anyways, darn cool concept pics. I find it interesting that Warpath was thought of as a Wrecker. That would have been great if he had made the cut just for the sake of having Warpath in the film but since he wasn't ever an original Wrecker it doesn't hurt my feelings too much. The whole "Wrecker" thing was just a casual nod or reference thrown in for the fans of the original comics anyways so I'm happy with even that small courtesy being shown to us "old-timers".

And I like that head for Laserbeak MUCH better.

Kinda like a mass = mass type thing to make sure the proportions were equal. If the bot weighed 10 tons in robot mode, they would weigh 10 tons in vehicle modes, for example.
But the more i am learning from the vids i have, the more its apparent that alot of the bots were just random parts thrown together and then melded with cool armor bits. This is really neat stuff, because its just so stupid easy to replicate on the building portion of it all.
The magic to these movies is the animation though. I haven't reached a point of understanding on that and how they rendered it to look so life like.

I'm a little disappointed we didn't get to see the Wreckers do any racing. What was the whole point of Bee being decked out in race stuff too? I guess they must have cut a bunch of scenes, even though it was still really long...

I love the fact that Nizzi also created protoform concepts for the characters, so you see them before they adopt alt-mode kibble.
Edit: Did a quick search-- for those like me who are obsessed with learning digital painting and art can find a sample of Nizzi's DVD, found here on Youtube, courtesy of Gnomonexamples:

Thanks bro and sorry if I came across so abrupt in my first post. I've been working 15 hour shifts most of the last two weeks and my family has informed me I've been a bit crabby lately.

As much as I am SO not a fan of pink, especially pink toys and most definitely pink Transformers, I would buy this in a heart beat if Hasbro were to crank it out and a portion (preferably a generous portion) were to go to breast cancer research. If they are going to do a repaint of a figure they might as well make it one that NOBODY can have issue with WHY they did it even if they have issue with the color they did it in. That is a very cool pic and surprisingly, 'Bee doesn't look bad in that color.

AGREED! And hilarious I would be happy to go all in on a set of pink figures if they raised money for Breast Cancer awareness/research. I'm a huge advocate of "Save the Ta-Ta's"! I love boobs.

Nah, Penguinbeak is awesome.
But on a side note and back on topic, you know what this guy's artwork made me think of?
Old image comic from back in the 90s. I can't find the info and the artists who worked on it, but the inner gears and machine parts covered by armor and effects...yeah, i think "Brass" may have been an early inspiration for this guy.
Kind of weird to think that our modern day Movie Transformers were inspired by a 90s comic book that had no relation to Transformers.
EDIT: Richard Bennet was the original artist and heres another piece of artwork from the guy to cement the idea:
2nd Edit: Wildstorm Wiki link (if anyone is interested in seeing more artwork and etc): http://wildstormresource.wetpaint.com/page/Brass

Now that's an awesome looking bot. I dunno if it's the manga scene saturating the media these days, but it looks very Japanese, as in anime-esque. You know, all that over-the-top weaponry and wing kibble. In fact, he's like a non-related predecessor to Bayverse OP's "Jetwings" mode.

vegetacron wrote:Yeah, i forgot the anime influence...im tired atm...not thinkin straight, but yeah. I forget that the original Appleseed was out and about a little before this (not the one with CGI in it, the original, original). There was also Gundam and Robotech. Come to think of it, maybe all three of these guys were really more influenced from Gundam.
In the commentary of the first TF movie, I recall Bay saying that the concepts he saw during the production of the robot designs were heavily influenced by Japanese anime and manga.
There was also a very enthusiastic Japanese designer named Kenji who caught his eye. Kenji was furious when his colleagues presented their initial concepts for Optimus, saying they were "an insult to the Japanese." [Seeing some of the early designs of the characters, I can see where he's coming from, to be honest.] Bay found this amusing, and put him in charge of Optimus.
Off-handedly speaking, it's very interesting to see that artists from both Japan and the US professing to have been influenced by each other. I've read various interviews where the Japanese artists said they were inspired to draw more gritty and realistic artwork by US comics, while their American counterparts drew inspiration from the eccentric and out-of-the-box creativity of Japanese mangaka.

EDIT: While I'm here, and speaking of concept art, does anyone happen to know of any Rampage/Skipjack art from RoTF? I've only ever seen one of him - and it was in a photo of a poster thing at an Australian event, so it's too small to be useful. Anyone?? Any official, or just plain good art of him would be most welcome. PMs to keep this thread on topic?
