Starting this Friday!

The Campaign for Cybertron has raged over Hydrax Plateau, we've scavenged across Tarn for components and captured teams over Vos to unlock new technologies in the fight for control of our planet.

In each battle so far the Decepticons have had the edge, but their dominance is slowly diminishing. They failed in the fight to break out their captured commanders, beaten back by the might of Jack Hallows' Howling Wreckers, whilst Sustain held the Autobots to a stalemate until something unknown happened and Cybertrons central battle computers were suddenly shut down...

Citizens of Cybertron.
I am Darth Vader, Supreme Commander of the Imperial Fleet and Sith Lord, and I bring you a declaration of intent.

The Galactic Empire now controls this sector of the universe, and it is our wish to bring it peace and stability.

Your machine planet is unstable, torn apart by war, so you have been chosen as an example to the rest of your universe of how our governance is beneficial to all other civilisations in this sector. Set aside your war, lay down your arms and accept the rule of the Empire.

You may have noticed that your planet is experiencing mechanical and technological difficulties? We did this to you, as a demonstration of our power.
We have erased your insignificant battle data.
We have made your planet's power supply unstable.
We are moving our battle station within range of your planet, possessing enough firepower to destroy your 'Cybertron' forever and not even your lightsabers can stop us.

Well ya'll, I think we've got a bit of a problem on our hands here.

Vader's 503rd have arrived, and the boss says the senate has an urgent message for us all, but lets be honest... we don't want to read that boring garbage so here's the important details...

Darth Vader can use the force to seize control of any of our mechs that have an altmode originating in his universe, adding them to his 503 army.
The Death Star is making its way to Cybertron with the firepower to destroy us all.
We must shoot down any soldiers that Vader could be controlling.
These guys are vulnerable to lightsabers. That said, if a kill is made with one then it counts double
Whichever side does the best job of beating back Vader's 503rd will win the sector.

The boss has also created a list of all the altmodes Vader can control. These are to be considered your taregts.

The Alt Hunt begins on Friday May 4th at 12:00 PM (GMT-4) and will run for 7 days.
The opening mission will be posted by the amazing Sustain and Wingz who will be running this tourney as I'm off on holiday until Monday and will have very little internet access.

The Hunt Rules

Make an entry post in the 'signups' thread, following the instructions in 'the boring stuff' below.
Kill as many Star Wars alts as you can in 1 week. The list of legal alts is listed above.
To be able to enter you must format either a STAR WARS based or approved alt onto at least one member of your team.
This is the character that will be used to determine your level bracket for the game.
Players may enter more than one level bracket, but may only enter once at each level.
ALL of your teams kills on target alts count.
LIGHTSABER KILLS RULE: Lightsaber kills count double. These must be labeled to claim the extra point.

In addition, a fair play directive has been added, which will be referred to as 'Rule: Zero'.
All characters named in sign-up posts MUST be activated into a mission with opposition at once least every 12 hours.
This rule is likely to be ongoing for the rest of the campaign rounds.

The Hunt Instructions!

When you get a kill on a target alt, edit the mission link into your original sign-up post, making sure to list the victims name and time of kill (timestamp).
Whoever has the most kills at the end of 1 week in each level bracket wins. In the event of a tie the number of higher level kills will be examined (e.g. number of level 11's killed, then 10s, then 9s etc.).

As usual, hunt tactics and game discussions can be added below, or started in the faction-specific forums.

The have we got the rules twist for you!!

If you have a level 0 character on your team that has less than the level cap of 40,000XP then you can still sign up and enjoy the hunt!!

Whilst the Transformers battle against Vaders 503rd forces, you will need to keep them supplied and restocked.

To do this:
Post in the sign-up thread with a link to your character.
It can be any one character, with any alt, as long as it has below the 40k XP level cap.
Post every kill your named character gets for the duration of the game. It does not have to be on a target alt, but it must be a kill, not a victory by retreat.
Hope you post more than the opposition.

The faction with the most combined wins(subject to player numbers and balancing) will score an extra point fr their side in the war against Darth Vader’s 503rd!

Boring Stuff:
- Sign ups are required, found here, listing the Name, Chosen altmode and Level of the lead character from your team
- Player numbers will be assessed before the game starts and weighting may be put into place to even the sides. This will be announced as the game begins.
- Players can have as many game-relevant alts as they want in their team, but only one can count per level, and this must be listed in advance.
- 'Lightsaber Kills' definition: The killing blow must be by a lightsaber to qualify for the double bonus. Any lightsaber in the game qualifies.
- Lightsaber Kills must be labeled to be counted.
- Target alts are determined by image alone, the alt class is irrelevant.
- Cheaters penalty: removal (without notification/permission) of a hunted alt from a listed (qualifying) team member is grounds for instant disqualification.
- The organisers decisions (made by discussions between Myself, Wingz and Sustain) are final.

For those of you who didn’t play the Sharkticonnado tourney, the scoring method may appear complicated, but it isn’t.
All the entrants are collected into their level brackets and the top score is taken as the victor.
Each commander can only win 1 bracket so they are crossed out in any lower bracket that also entered in, leaving the next highest eligible score as the victor.
This does not always work though, as in level 7, all three entrants had previously won a bracket, so there is no winner there, meaning the Empire actually scored a victory, even if they were driven back by the Cybertronian forces.

Congratulation for all of you who persevered with the game. Lets just hope that it’s all sorted for the big event next month!!

Meanwhile, I'm going to go to the eye doctor since I must be seeing things; if I read that right, then I won Level 5 by default since Red had already won at a higher level. I never win anything, it's like one of the unwritten bylaws of HMW...

(Seriously; I think Burn has a 'wildfire protocol' or something where if I ever actually win anything - up to and especially including actually SL'ing Gore - the game is erased from the Seibertron servers or worse, HMW 2.0 finally comes out but all current data is wiped...)

Those should totally be a reward so people can 'purchase' shit like altmodes and the like once they've saved up enough of them.

I imagine it'd be implemented the same way Burn gave away the sharkticon alt modes

So I doubt a mythical numberlord would be needed for that part. The list of rewards wouldn't be very large without a programmer, but it'd be doable.

Brilliant idea. Hand them out as CFC rewards at tye end of a round to the winners. Then set a value for alts/weapons to redeem them for. Ie 3 points for a custom alt character, 7 points for a custom named weapon, etc

Overwatch nailed what I was getting at.
We'd have to keep a list of who won what privately to prevent asshattery, but we do that anyway.

You guys keep going on about a programmer but what language is the game written in? Also I think the points idea is great and might encourage more participation but we have to make sure the don't offer really unfair advantages. Otherwise those who don't play these tournaments will start complaining. That said, points will be given out to 2nd and 3rd places yes?

Essentially, this game is based around the community, and the CFC games are a fun medium for said community to interact and expand. Those who have no sense of community wouldn't be rewarded with a currency implemented for that purpose (to promote activity).

If I'm understanding your concern correctly, Zero, you're thinking of the shy/ultra-reclusive players or players without a lot of time to spend recording that would gladly sign up if they felt comfortable/free enough to do so (and not necessarily people who don't want to sign up). The response is that this is why there is such variation with the games. People without a desire to post much or who don't have the time to check logs might not want to play in an alt hunt like Sharkticonado or May the Fourth Be With You, but all they'd have to do to participate in a scalp hunt is sign up so kills from their characters count

It'll be slower for them, but not impossible.

Also, the more events people sneak into, the more comfortable they'll likely feel with joining more, so a reward system is good incentive all around, in my honest opinion.

@Wingz yeah but also the players who don't want to do these things but expect there to be a level playing field for those who don't participate versus those that do. Now the good news is I suspect the percentage of players who would act like this to be miniscule. I mean I think a large amount probably didn't know the tournaments were on! Isn't there a way to send messages out so it appears on the page were your recent mission results are? There is a heading there for different messages.

As I said before, I think this is a great idea and I wonder if there is other ways to expand it as well...aside from end of year awards :lol:

The simple way to do it would be award a point for signing up, regardless of your result.

Also, the rewards would not create an uneven playing field. I mean you can buy weapons that are equal or better to the customs, it's just a name change. Likewise, pasting a new picture over an alt class doesn't change the alt - a tank class with a plane picture, for example, works the same as any other tank.

Also the tournaments are posted to the News section for the whole site to see.

Thanks SoL! Wasn't honestly expecting to win a bracket because felt like my characters would just act like bricks and do nothing at times. lol.

I think the news section on the HMW home page has been borked for a good long time. Hence why the seib news crew does pieces instead.

It was damn close!

Pleased to see another win for team Con. Shame about the wider issue at hand which is the lack of targets Bot players. I know timezones are always an issue but I'm certain I didn't fulfill the 12 hour timeout limit, despite my best efforts! Evenings for me are usually fine for opposition but deploying before work of a morning is often all empty missions.

Good to see people take all the 503 errors and alt modes not displaying obstacles in their stride though.

The points and rewards system I think is the best bet outside of mind control, which I think the cia still have the patent on (obviously using to the full effect of making people believe certain countries actually exist)

When I first came back a couple weeks ago, I thought about mass PM to any former of my Bots friends from way back when would they been AWC or Maximal. The problem is there are probably several who don't pay attention to PM anymore. Then there are those who do play because I see them in the missions but don't ever post for whatever the reason. General Incursion is one of those Bot players who I see often in my missions but as far as I know has yet to post in these forums. With summer time coming, it is totally possible we see an uptick in activity due to those students will be out of school.

No harm in sending out a mass pm to oldies, it's better than standing around hoping someone comes back.

I've just come back in that last few weeks and I'm just enjoying setting up and sending in my team as and when I can. As for campaign and tournaments I'll probably sign up for the next one but I'll just run support for now.

As for prizes and rewards I'm easy either way as Burn, Psychout and others have said you have to be in it to win it. If I'm not signed up it's my loss, I'd still kick Decepticon but ;p

Fr the rest of you guys waiting for the closing of the tourney, apologies but I've been unable to put anything down as yet, my RL is chaotically busy (in a good way!) Hopefully I'll have a bit of time to create something fun for you all at the weekend with a nice twist thrown in to prepare you all for the huge event we have planned for June!
