Core Class is the name for the replacement of the Micromasters price point.
Here is some screen grabs:

On the figure side though. I am really not a fan of this, I think that I will be saving a lot of money this coming year if half the figures are BW. Does anyone else find it strange that we basically know of every figure that will be released in the kingdom line and ER has not even ended yet?

To be fair, this isn't the first time it's happened. Titan's Returns and Power of the Primes was also heavy set with leaks. I did think they had a handle on it after PotP but looks like I was wrong.
Anyway, I'm loving Rattrap and if the rest of the bessts are just as well handled (assuming good QC) then I think its going to be quite a year for me.

This is T30 Rattrap who would likely tower over Kingdom Rattrap

Best Rattrap is still the Transmetal mold, AKA the Rat Rod.

But they'll be making G1 toys in this size class too.transformers_va wrote:What a shame.. to go from a great WFC line, with Siege and Earthrise, to this. This guy just looks cheap, and brings down the line overall. If they wanted another BW line, they should have kept it separate from WFC.

I'm also very appreciative of the smaller sizes. I've come to realize I am really good with the downsizing of the figures since more can fit on a shelf to make a better looking army, and it makes the bigger guys actually seem bigger. I'm cool with it!

I could not disagree more.
FINALLY adding Beast Wars? This is finally starting to put the "s" back in "Generations". The line should not be 95% G1 with a random callout or 2 thrown in. Make it like this, 50% G1/50% BW, and continue that diversity.
Transformers should be like Marvel Legends, and this is at long last a step in the right direction, a step that was made in Thrilling 30 and then stagnated, and now is finally headed that way again.

I'll definitely be getting this.

Compared to the Siege/ER two micromasters in a pack that it is replacing it doesn't feel cheap and is somewhat of an improvement. Just don't compare it to old beast wars figures that had metal springs and mechanic doohickys at half the price.

And I cannot disagree with THIS more.
I think their sales will show that those who were keen on the G1 asthetic, will not be keen on the BW characters. There are so many great WFC releases to date, and this just feels like a letdown.

Yeah, I'm generally a Trukk not Munky type, but I'm actually loving the OG Beast Wars cast being made in conjunction with WFC. The Rattrap itself gives me hope for aesthetically improved versions of the 90s figures, which I had all of them. I know the gimmicks will be gone, but that's easy to overlook (for me).

ARRRRRGH! So on the fence with Kingdom. I don't feel the OG BW toys need an update. The original toys are pure gold! But oddly enough I think that Rat Trap looks great! Good sculpt, good articulation, and the right size. Oddly enough I never had the first Rat Trap so, fill in the gap with this new version, or go hunting for an old one. Or just do nothing at all.
While I'm irked at these leaks, because I like the suspense and anticipation of not knowing, I am excited to see how these Kingdom toys shake out. Whether I dive in or not.

I'm not fond of it either, but I see that they did them that way in order to give his shoulders their correct appearance at such a small size.Cheetron wrote:Unless I missed it, I seem to be the only person who doesn't like his shoulder joints! As Zerowolf said, we've seen this a few times snow. POTP was crazy since we even had images to represent the entire line. That was one heck of a leak.

I think history has taught us that segregation is not a good way to go about it.
Anyways, regarding this toy, I get what they are doing. We had G1 with articulation, and now it's the time for that to happen with the Season 1 Beast Wars toys. I can dig it.

I dunno about Strawberry Shortcake her rights holders would probably want the whole line obliterated from orbit depending on how sge looked I mean they did pull a comic from Penny Arcade back in the day...

In all serious though, I'm sure WJ was partly joking as well. But serious social issues of humanity cannot be compared to toys. It's called categorization, not segregation. It's why when you walk into a store you have groceries, domestics, sporting goods, electronics etc... otherwise it would be chaos.
I myself thought previously that WFC Trilogy was going to be a past/present/future story. But the future I was envisioning was more like Victory etc... I too feel that this line should have stuck with the original series. Not for any lack of love for BW, I think BW is great, but every BW toy in this line is a potential original series character that gets snubbed. Conversely, every original series character in this line takes a spot away from what could have been more BW characters in a line dedicated to them.
If they wanted to do a Generations crossover theme, it just could have been done better IMHO.

My main potential problem are his robot mode shoulders being on forward-facing ball joints. It probably will function just fine as the backpack wouldn't allow backwards arm movement anyway, but hopefully it's not too derpy. He could also use more paint, but that's the price point.
Overall, he's looking really good. I'll be buying him for sure.

I agree 100%. Thats why I always loved Thrilling 30 so much. There was so much character variety and diversity (Which really showed on the shelf, Too), That I never (And still haven't) got bored with it.
I've always wanted a sort of anthology series (like Marvel Legends) And I think T30 was the closest we ever got to that.
Anyway. I think Rattrap looks pretty good. It is nice that the ears don't stick out like the T30 mold in robot mode, Thats an advantage (IMO) that it has in its favor right out of the gate compared to T30.
My only concern is the scale. Now, I haven't watched Beast Wars all the way through in a couple of years, But does this scale seem kind of wonky to anyone else? Again, It might just be me, I don't know.
Also, What do you think the odds of getting a Transmutate figure are? I think that may've been my favorite BW episode.

Realistically though you can't expect Hasbro to double their toy output overnight, so they would either have to drop G1 production entirely and replace it with Beast Wars (which isn't going to happen when G1 sells the most) or keep producing G1 and nothing else (which they now seem to understand annoys fans of those series).

Quantum Surge wrote:Me thinks this guy will pop up at around the last Earthrise wave like Combiner Wars Buzzsaw did.
Except it would have to be all or nothing for the wave 1 core class since that class doesn't exist on shelves right now. Buzzsaw was Legends which carried over from CW to TR, so he could be released under CW ahead of TR without screwing up the size classes. The same setup doesn't exist here, I don't see them jamming Rattrap into micromaster packaging.
