octone is a voyager
Yep! My mistake. Was fixed in the article, now is fixed on the boards.

That actually cracked me up for some reason.

No but seriously all of the Hasbro generations toys that have come out recently have no emotion at all the only one I can think of is Bumblebee's small smirk.
Say what you will about RID but at least their warrior figures have something on their faces most of the time.
There's also Megatron who has one sick scowl on both his Leader and Voyager toys.
Menasor's pretty angry, so is Blades; the Torchbearers all have some smile going on, and Offroad in particular stands out as suitably creepy. Not to mention some of the Titan Masters; Thunderwing's crazy, Rodimus is old and Nightbeat needs psychiatric help. There's some range of emotion if you look hard enough.

I don't own Megatron (yet) so I wouldn't know but anyways now we have stare, angry, a couple of smirks and whatever expression Nightbeat is supposed to have.
I despise that expression on Nightbeat a lot it really should of been Siren/Loundmouth since that would actually make sense for him to be "yelling" in fact I think that's what was supposed to happen looking at the the two of them but the colors were switched for toy accuracy despite the fact that no other Nightbeat has had the toy face like ever.

Unfortunately, I think this is simply another symptom of the current design team's rampant toy-accuracy. Blurr's colour scheme, Hardhead not having a face... and Nightbeat not actually looking like how he looked in every fictional appearance he had ever. But it's fine because he looks like the toy a handful of people had as a kid and half of that handful were annoyed he didn't have his shades from Marvel.
Sorry if I seem bitter; it just seems like Barber and his team could use a bit of tact every now and then.

I've been hoping, since the very first point when the Nightbeat and Loudmouth TMs came out, that we'd be later seeing full Deluxes of each with the faces switched. At this point, knowing how part trees seem to work in this line and with just one Deluxe wave left to go, I'm optimistic for a mass retail release for either of those guys - but at the very least, I'm still super-hoping for a Nightbeat (with the Loudmouth TM face or a similar one) in one of the box-sets! Please please please

Uhm, yeah? "Octane" can't be trademarked, hence all the Tankors. At least this time the name's more fitting (and easier to hold since it's a nonsensical word) as it's the original Japanese name. It even has "Decepticon", analogous to the current "Destron Octone" the Henkei toy holds.

Octone isn't just Hasbro changing the A for an O in his name to avoid trademark ya know. His name in Japan is actually Octone so Hasbro is using his name in Japan instead to just calling him Tankor because they can't use Octane.

Yes I know Octane is a general fuel term and can't be trademarked. But why not something like "Decepticon Octane", much like "Autobot Jazz" or "Decepticon Brawl" where the name is a compound trademarkable phrase. Or just Tankor again.
I was not aware Octone was his Japanese name however.
In any case, Octone sounds weird in english. Tankor would have been fine IMHO.
Still, I can say I got a good laugh out of the potential alternate names for other triple changers.

The "Autobot" and "Decepticon" prefixes are only for additional protection, not for reacquiring trademarks that have become generic. Plus, I believe The Lego Company holds a trademark for their fictional fuel brand "Octan".

Because that method only works sometimes in fact there are plenty of times where using Autobot or Decepticon is not enough for example.
Solar Storm Grappel not only needed two words in front of the name but Hasbro also had to change the spelling from GrappLE to GrappEL just to be able to sell him with that name.

If you spin them so that the gray part faces out to the side when folded down there's enough clearance to not hinder articulation and looks perfectly fine on the back of the arm. I'll be doing this with Octone for sure, he just doesn't look right with those shoulders and it'll definitely improve his likeness (anything is better than those Classics shoulders...).

Actually since a lot of my fondness for the character comes from Universe Tankor (one of the Transformers I hold the most distinct memories of getting, and what must have been my first Triple Changer) I'll probably be keeping the pylons up. If I had any other introduction or attachment to the character, I'm sure I'd feel differently though. Of course I don't doubt that they've been intentionally designed with the ability to "disappear", and I'll probably be trying out each configuration once I have him in-hand, but at this point that's the way I'm planning to go.
Have we seen any pictures so far of Octone with the shoulder pylons down, actually? I don't recall any but I may have forgotten.

Could either mean that there might be a Deluxe Nightbeat either as a standard single retail release or in one of the other two possible box sets this one I would think Hasbro would use the Loudmouth head in Nightbeat colors or they could unfortunately mean the re-release of the Titanmaster with Flywheels in the 4th Titanmaster wave.
One way or another I'll be fine if it's the first yay a new Nightbeat if the other then I have my Custom Nightbeat which is just simply Hasbro TR Blurr with Nightbeat's head which I plan to find reprolabels for.
Edit: Oh Primus I just read the list again and since the Cosmos was just a re-release this probably means that Huffer and Shockwave are as well!

Also Nautica does have lips on her head sculpt they are just unpainted.
At this point I think Hasbro is intent on making Blurr's gun in every colour of the rainbow ; The real joke is that the gun isn't even like his gun in shape anyway - so what were they basing it on I have to wonder.

That... is rather odd. A lack of wrist swivels in general is a complaint I have with most modern Generations figures so I love to see someone's taking a stab at fixing that, but Mindwipe's certainly not the one I would have started with. please do Megatron next please do Megatron next please do Megatron next
My attachment to Octane comes from IDW's Tall Tankor, so if I ever get him I'll leave the shoulder thingies up. ... and probably try a bit of customing with kitbashing Optimus' chestplate onto him.

The only viable function I can see is to allow Brainstorm's guns to be stored on his back. but it's shaped like a landing skid for some reason.

It's to allow the Titan Masters to sit in it and use it as a sled.

The skid on the top of the shield/hood of Blurr/Brainstorm/Nautica is used for the titan master integration.
It keeps the gun emplacement level when you peg it into a base or other larger figure via the side pegs.
Flip over thr the hood/shield, and there's a small seat for the Titanmaster, and the skid helps the seat not tip forward.

Hmm. Maybe it's based on country - I can't remember if I ordered mine from America or Canada. It was during that whole crazy period where she was down to around 40$ and just kept lowering by the minute. ... think we'll have that for any of these boxsets?
I wonder if they do have cards they'll characterise the included characters as some sort of team.

At this point Blurr's gun is just the standard Autobot pistol sidearm in fact if a character comes with an additional weapon I give the "pistol" to characters like Bumblebee who don't come with weapons the silver ones that come with Blurr goes well with any character that can hold the weapon.
I was annoyed at first on how much the gun mold was used but now I adore them and I would totally buy a pack of 10 guns and make a weapons rack for all of them but really why has Hasbro never made a weapons accessory kit like say AOE Hound but without the figure?
No but seriously if anyone got sick of theirs I would totally buy them or just buy a bunch of discount Hasbro Blurr's and just resell them without the weapon.
