Thanks to JT Prime we have a breakdown of the Legacy Toys coming out for the rest of the year. This shows us the month they are meant for release, which characters are getting repacked and which ones are getting shortpacked. For instance, we see here that Bludgeon will be shortpacked. And we now see that Axelgraese is indeed the upcoming deluxe car Junkion we've seen on the poster.
This is not spread bad news, but otherwise to give you a heads up as to which toy you should probably preorder instead of waiting to find in stores, since online places like BBTS or Hasbro Pulse may get solid cases instead of the assortment cases shown below, which end up at Walmart and Target.
Also PR means package refresh, these are toys from previous lines that are rereleased in this line.
So, based on what we see below, which will you be getting?
Wave 3: July
Core:
Skar x2
Swoop x2
Starscream PR x2
Grimlock x2
Deluxe:
Beachcomber x2
Devcon x2
Axelgreese x2

Wave 4: October

I would think it would be another character from TF:TM, but then I'd think it would be in SS, unless it was slotted in L:E because SS was too full? On the other hand, if this is another made up Junkion/ weaponizer perhaps this is the "team leader", and much like the Stunticons, we will get the 5th and final member in wave 1 2024?
I think this will be a bigger junkion weaponizer to go with the rest of this year's gimmick

I certainly hope so, the junkions look to be fantastic frol what we've seen so far

Also, Core Class Sludge and Slag are listed, but not showing PR after them. They've already been released. Or are these in G2 colors?
Update: Never mind. PR means package refresh of figures from OTHER LINES. I was thinking OTHER WAVES of SAME LINE. My bad.

Hopefully they do Megatron right. Both Hotshot and Starscream have been only adequate so far.

Hmm I'm sure those adept at kitbashing can make it work. Looks pretty good. A junkion combiner would have been a good idea.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:He has a combiner peg?
And "Mena-cons?" You mean Stunticons? Their official name?
Nope. But he has a perfectly centered 5mm peg. And one of the designers hinted on Twitter in response to a leg mode picture that there was more to that than just speculation.
Do you mean Slag?Mena-cons was a name I typed by mistake, but I liked it. You don't always have to type the official name, as seen with a certain Dinobot in this wave of figures.
You can call them whatever you like, I was just a little confused, because I don't think they were referred to as Stunticons even on official packaging, now that I think about it.
As for the combined form, I'm also a bit disappointed, but I don't blame anyone else. I saw photos and reviews and still bought them. But they do look better separate than combined.

No. Skar is the sixth Dinobot needed to finish the Core class Dinobot combiner.wolverinetodd wrote:So is Skar the mini-bat that merges with Double Dealer?

Axelgreese, Armada Megs, Shadowstriker, Strongarm, voyager Junkion, and maybe Dreadwing (but I still think I mostly want that mold as G1 Skyquake)
I initially had Skar on my list but then I stopped to think about it. I had at first assumed this was a remake of Doubledealer's bat Powermaster in the vein of SS Rumble (Blue), but then I noticed that we don't have a listing for our last Dinobot, and Skar has also been used as a name for a Dynobot in IDW, however briefly. So that leads me to believe that Skar is the ankylosaurus dinobot for Volcanicus. Thus the distribution would be:
W1: Slug, Sludge
W2: Grimlock
W3: Swoop, Skar
W4: Snarl
And of course as this list shows we've got rereleases of figures in later waves so:
Wave 1: 3x Slug, 3 x Sludge
wave 2: 2x Grimlock
wave 3: 2x Skar, 2x Swoop, 2x Grimlock
Wave 4: 2x Snarl, 2x Sludge, 2x Slug
They're going to make sure get Slug and Sludge if you missed them the first time around. Waves 3 and 4 will be dominated by Dinobots.
Really wondering when we're going to see info about Dinoking.

You're both correct technically. The Dynobot Skar is a simple name reuse from the IDW comics (based on Dinobot names starting with "S"), but he was nothing more than a tragic plot device He'll be the Ankylosaurus of this new group, if the Dinoking setup still holds true.
And he's coming a lot sooner than expected. Curiously Slug and Sludge are getting re-releases, I hope they address Sludge's Dino head detailing with that.

It's hard to notice, but the detailing on the snout is asymmetric, the measurements for each half were slightly off when the mold was cut it seems.

If you're fine with just the TR,it's all right. But the new voyager is much more G1 accurate. Plus if you love Cyclonus's transformation, we get the same magic here.
For me, I want them all.
Too bad I slept on Botcon Metalhawk all those years because he's now definitely nope'd priced.
As for the OG G1, it's just a pipe dream. Even if I'd be a millionaire, finding one that is 100% complete is a near impossibility.

Now before anyone tell me I'm in the wrong thread, here's the Wreck N Rule Legacy Bulkhead.
Same overall proportions. Same overall looks. Same colors. Same love for weapons.
And the exact same vehicle mode.
Surprisingly, Bulkhead is bigger than Hound.
Same vehicle, same deco, same love for weapons.
So, yeah. For me, Legacy Bulkhead have absolutely nothing to do with the Prime Universe. He's the "geewunification" of AoE Hound. Those two are the same character in two different universes. It's just perfect!

Detritus? I wonder if Earthmode Hound redeco or Siege? I hope the latter so I can use Earth Hound and have some variation.
Wonder what Devcon will look like.
Nemesis Destron wrote:I'm very much content with TR Metalhawk...anybody else?
Same, mostly. I prefer the brighter yellow on this one for sure to the dark gold, and I think I just overall prefer his spaceship mode to the F15, even though an earth mode fits more for what I want to do with him. I am also not a fan of how much light grey is peeking through and how narrow the cockpit is. But I am planning on getting him in and I expect I will like it a lot in person.

Perhaps he'd look better with CW Dead End, Wildrider, and Breakdown instead? There are some options for shoulder adapters out there (one on Shapeways, and a print-your-own on Cults3D).D-Maximal_Primal wrote:I got my Legacy Breakdown and Scraphook today, which is pretty fun considering I only just ordered them Thursday night from Pulse.
Breakdown is breakdown, nothing really exciting. The best thing I did with him was throw him onto Menasor as a back calf. 3 of the 5 Mena-cons really did turn out pretty mediocre. The combiner itself is nice, but the latter 3 cons kinda made me like him less. I actually almost prefer him without the leg bots, and Dead End just does not look good on the arm like Dragstrip does. He's nice, and better than CW, but he's still a bit disappointing.
I think people are now obligated to make a connector add-on for him.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Scraphook is really awesome, I love his highly greebled scrappy design, and the colors in hand are ace. He is so much fun, and his truck mode is rad too. He is great, highlight of the wave so far for me. He also makes a cool leg

I class him as Slug now as well, despite knowing his previous name for years. Thing is, I can't fully remember when he was even renamed. I know IDW did a skit with it in their Dark Cybertron event back in 2014ish.

I think Animated was the first, they named the triceratops "Snarl". Not sure if anything before that started the trend away.
And since then, IDW, FOC, the movies, Cyberverse, PotP, SS86, and Legacy have all used Slug. I think the Slug might outnumber the Slag now in terms of toys and fictional appearances.

The FoC game was indeed the first to use the new name overall. The first toys were the AoE ones, which worked out in a sense since they were new interpretations. Not too happy with "Strafe" and "Slog" tho.

I could see a 5th Core wave with Skar, Swoop and Snarl since the other three all got second runs in later waves. If not then wave 1 of 2024.

As for metalhawk I like the legacy toon botmode over TR Metalhawk but functional cockpit and titanmaster wins out. I'd want the funpub metlhawk to go with my deluxe thunderwing tho :/ not quite sure Legacy Metalhawk would fit in with my NitroZeus/Thunderwing head but it's a reason for me to actually consider picking him up.
Still a shame they never did TR skyshadow as thunderwing but there might be a slim chance of it in a buzzworthy release.

Me too.
For now, I gave him all the extra guns from Red Cog except the "mutagen tube".
Without a custom 3D printed "G1" AoE Hound head, I think painting Bulkhead's big chin in gloss black will do the job.

Pretty sure everyone agreed it was just packaged backwards by the photographer or whoever so the part cut out to go behind the figure for back kibble ended up on the front. They just did it again with Origins Jazz.

It's to show the kids what they're getting. The reason leaders are completely closed is because they're more expensive, but in theory a kid could save up their allowance to pick up a deluxe or voyager and Hasbro's research has shown that kids like being able to see the toys they're buying, hence the open window on voyagers and below

Of course they can. It is much simpler than that.
1)On the closed box, the back of the box shows what your item is supposed to look like (at the time of printing the boxes).
2)The window boxes show what at least a portion of your actual item looks like while at the same time the back of the box shows what your item is supposed to look like (at the time of printing the boxes). Plus the portion you see is at scale.
I prefer 2, but it isn't a deal breaker to me. Kids tend to have a much stronger preference.

Transformers may have the same price points as other action figures but they are not in the same category. They are in the puzzle box category instead, which has its own marketing rules and is driven by tactile activity rather than characters. That's why 80s kids were fine buying G1 toys of unknown characters. When you go to Walmart next time, check the games area and look at the tactile games and puzzle boxes. You'll notice they are not in closed boxes either.

So, I have been putting a lot of thought into G2 universe figures, specifically updates to characters who were G2 exclusive and have basically a single toy to their name. And i have a list below of how I think they can make the G2 characters, including mold reuses to give them multiple mode re-uses.
I just want to start putting the energy into the universe and see what happens.
here we go:
Axelerators
Skram can be a new mold, and he can be retooled into Rapido. They could even use the same skeleton to get Turbofire out of the same mold too.
Windbreaker can be a new head and weapon tooling of Windcharger.
Skyscorchers
All 4 transform pretty similarly, you could almost get away with a 4-pack of figures using the same base tooling, with 2 alt mode pairs with 2 heads tooled in each.
Aquaspeeders
Pretty much all 4 can use their European releases as redecos, considering all 4 had different colorings and names for the euro releases.
Deluge could also use the Siege Mirage mold, as an alternative, but I would prefer a new mold.
Rotor force
We already got Leadfoot, so he's covered.
Manta Ray can be done and retooled into comics universe Riptide, good way to get the 2 good boatformers.
Powerdive has some design similarities to Rotorstorm, so we could get a more accurate Rotorstorm that then gets retooled into Powerdive.
As for Ransack, you could almost do a reverse retool (AOE to TLK Drift style) from a Skyscorcher mold to get him done.
Laser Rods
Outside of Electro, I think all 3 could share a base skeleton with heavy retools. We need more rat rod robots dammit!
We also could see Jolt and Sizzle share a base, and then electro and Volt share a heavy retool base as well. It's maybe not ideal, but at least Electro gets a non-fall apart toy.
Heroes
these can be all new toolings, though we kinda sorta already got the Hero Megatron, though not accurate transformation wise.
Dreadwing and Smokescreen
Considering you have BWII and Robotmasters repaints available, and maybe even movieverse homages for Mindwipe and Sunspot, I think these can be made easy.
Gobots
These can be core class, and they can be mass produced.
Cyberjets
All 3 molds have multiple repaints available, both in bot and con form, and they can share transformations with the Skyscorchers too. That jet transformation has a lot of options in it.
Laser Cycles
We already got Road Rocket, and i think Animated Prowl can make a good Road pig.
Autorollers
All 4 Autorollers have BWII repaints.
Dirtbag can be used for General Optimus and G1 Landfill as well.
Roadblock can be used for Sgt Hound and G1 Scoop.
Autojetter can be a movieverse seeker homage figure as well.
Power Masters
Ironhide can maybe be re-used with Ironfist, minus the big ass weapon, as a different size class.
Staxx and Meanstreak both are dragster type versions of their vehicles, so they might work as retools of one another.
I really don't know what you can do with Bulletbike.
Stormtroopers
All 4 can use a base mold, and they might be able to share with the Axelators too.
Lightformers/Trakkons
Ironfist and Ironhide, as mentioned above, can share a mold.
Deftwing can share a mold with Fearswoop if we wanted to get both of those.
Not sure immediately on Calcar, a lot of G2 cars share robot mode bases, though not transformations, so there are potential options there too.
Obliterators
I think these 2 could be retools of one another, or they could be their own molds, I think those 2 deserve it.

IDK why Transformers it the lone holdout to having a tiny window that barely shows what you're buying in the first place.
Yeah, and just look at some of those Marvel Legends box sets, they have no pictures of the figures on them at all, just art on all sides.

I did gets a few new bots though and they are cool. Finally we get Tarn and I took some photos. They are just quick ones from my phone so not great.
I have been waiting years for this figure and was not let down. Right off the page looks and amazing articulation. He is just right.
Although if I had to nitpick, he is a tiny bit smaller than I imagined. But I think its just because I had this custom figure for so many years. Still the official is a major upgrade.
I even put together my own headcanon Sunbow season 4 DJD(since I doubt we will ever gets the others).
Also, another finally figure, Alpha Trion. Since I was a kid 40 yrs ago I have wanted a figure for him. To get one and Vector Sigma to boot was sweet. Oh also Orion Pax is there, and not bad, but like everyone else I would guess, Alpha Trion and Vector Sigma were the big draws. The SS 86 Scourge was almost perfect for him. After I made some changes, moved things around and knocked out a few pins, now the figure is perfect. Luckily I had an old cloak to use as well.
